Ghanaian gospel singer, Diana Asamoah, has weighed in on the 15-year prison sentence handed to Nana Agradaa. She described it as part of God’s divine plan rather than a mere coincidence.

In a video posted online, Asamoah turned her message toward Agradaa’s husband, Angel Asiamah, urging him not to despair over his wife’s incarceration.

“I want to tell Angel Asiamah not to worry. He should return as a transformed person. He is a great evangelist,” she said.

Asamoah expressed firm belief that the prison term is God’s way of molding Agradaa into a true vessel of faith.

“God has deliberately allowed her to be imprisoned, and it is for a purpose. God knows why He has separated her from her properties. When God calls you and you’re being stubborn, He has a way of humbling you,” she added.

Angel Asiamah, husband of embattled televangelist Nana Agradaa, has stepped into the leadership role at Heaven Way Champion International Ministry following his wife’s recent 15-year sentencing.

The new head pastor has since released a revised church fellowship schedule to assure members of the ministry’s continuity.

Taking to his TikTok account, Asiamah who previously served as Nana Agradaa’s junior pastor shared a flyer outlining the updated activities and worship days of the church.

The flyer prominently features a striking photo of the couple, dressed in elegant black attire, symbolically communicating unity and spiritual resilience in the face of adversity.

Agradaa, born Patricia Asieduaa, was convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison by an Accra Circuit Court after being found guilty of multiple counts of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence a verdict that has dominated headlines across Ghana.

Despite her incarceration at Nsawam Prison, her husband’s actions indicate that her church is not folding.

The flyer and Asiamah’s calm demeanour in recent videos convey a message of loyalty and a commitment to continue his wife’s controversial spiritual mission.

Many social media users have since praised Asiamah for standing by his wife during such a turbulent time, while others remain skeptical about the continuation of the ministry under the shadow of legal controversy.

Ghana Prisons Service Debunks Claims Of Nana Agradaa’s Absence And Alleged Assault In Custody

0

The Ghana Prisons Service has firmly denied social media reports alleging that convicted evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, is either not in custody or has suffered physical abuse at the hands of other inmates.

Speaking during an interview on Adom TV on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Superintendent Adamu Latif, the Service’s public relations officer, clarified that Agradaa began her prison sentence on Saturday, July 5. Her sentencing, he explained, took place two days earlier on July 3, but due to the national holiday observed on Friday, her transfer was delayed until the weekend.

“We are aware that Agradaa has been sentenced, and I have seen a viral video that suggests she is not in prison. It is not true. I want to state emphatically that she is in prison. She started her prison sentence on Saturday, July 5, 2025. Friday was a holiday, so there was no way she could have been brought to the prison earlier,” Superintendent Latif stated.

He also rejected viral claims that Agradaa had been assaulted since entering custody, calling such reports baseless.

“All videos circulating on social media suggesting that she has been assaulted by some inmates are not true. Prison is a place where the rights of inmates are protected. No inmate has the right to hit another,” he added.

Latif further confirmed that Nana Agradaa is being held at the Nsawam Prisons, and her continued detention at the facility will depend on internal assessments related to security and classification.

“She is currently at Nsawam Prisons, we will continue to assess the situation to determine whether she will remain there, based on our findings,” he explained.

Agradaa is currently serving a 15-year sentence with hard labour following her conviction by an Accra Circuit Court. She was found guilty of one count of charlatanic advertisement and five counts of defrauding by false pretence.

The charges were on the heels of a televised event on her private Today TV channel and social media pages in 2022. During the program, held at her Heaven Way Champion International Ministry church in Weija, Accra, she claimed to possess spiritual powers capable of “doubling” money brought as an offering.

According to court findings, Agradaa promised attendees of the October 7, 2022, all-night service that she would distribute GH¢300,000 to help cover their rent and support their businesses. The crowd, some of whom travelled long distances, handed over significant amounts of cash, but no money was ever returned, nor were any promises fulfilled.

Prosecutors told the court that the fraudulent scheme had been executed with help from unidentified accomplices. Although six official complaints were filed, authorities believe the number of victims may exceed 1,000.

Before sentencing, Agradaa was subjected to a legally required pregnancy test, which returned negative, clearing the way for her immediate incarceration.

Meanwhile, her legal team has filed an appeal, seeking to overturn both the conviction and the 15-year sentence.
