Pastors who sell items to members are also fraudsters – Diana Asamoah

Renowned gospel musician and evangelist, Diana Asamoah, has taken a bold stance against pastors who sell spiritual items to their congregants, branding them as fraudsters disguised as men of God.

Speaking candidly during a live radio interview, the outspoken evangelist referenced the recent 15-year jail sentence handed to former fetish priestess turned evangelist, Nana Agradaa, and used the opportunity to address what she described as widespread commercialisation of the gospel in Ghana.

According to Diana Asamoah, the issue of exploiting believers isn’t exclusive to Agradaa. She stressed that many so-called pastors who sell oils, soaps, candles, and other items in the name of spiritual breakthrough are equally guilty of fraud.

“These pastors are not serving God — they are running businesses,” she said. “They take huge sums of money from poor church members and return just a fraction in the form of donations or giveaways, and people hail them as generous.”

She went on to warn the Ghana Police Service and the general public not to be deceived by such acts of ‘giving back,’ noting that it’s merely a calculated move to maintain loyalty while profiting off vulnerable believers.

Diana Asamoah, who has enjoyed decades of success in ministry and music, emphasized that her achievements have not come through the use of any so-called spiritual items.

“I’ve travelled across nations, I’ve been successful by the grace of God, not through oils or handkerchiefs sold by pastors,” she stated.

Bukom Banku Begs President Mahama To Show Mercy To Jailed Nana Agradaa (Video)

Former Ghanaian boxer, Braimah Kamoko, popularly known as Bukom Banku, has made a heartfelt appeal to President John Dramani Mahama, urging him to intervene in the case of Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, better known as Nana Agradaa, who was recently sentenced to 15 years in prison for fraud.

Agradaa, a former traditional priestess who later rebranded herself as a Christian evangelist, was convicted on July 3, 2025, by the Circuit Court in Accra for defrauding several of her followers. The court’s decision has been celebrated by many as a firm stand against spiritual exploitation and financial scams.

Despite the widespread support for the ruling, Bukom Banku has voiced his disapproval of the severity of the punishment. He described Agradaa’s incarceration as deeply painful and pleaded with Mahama to consider granting her a pardon. According to him, while Agradaa may have done wrong, a 15-year prison sentence was far too harsh and difficult for him to emotionally process.

Although advocating for mercy, Banku did not hesitate to condemn Agradaa’s repeated offenses. He criticized her for continuously finding herself in legal trouble, noting that despite her beauty and public platform, she had persisted in deceiving people, intimidating others through hired thugs, and publicly boasting about her misconduct on social media.

Banku’s comments revealed a mix of frustration and compassion. While acknowledging Agradaa’s wrongdoings, he warned that such a lengthy prison term could lead to her untimely death. He called on Mahama to act as a compassionate leader and look into her case from a human perspective, stressing that if Agradaa were anyone’s parent, the pain would be unbearable.

Nana Agradaa’s Mother Debunks Claims That Sofo Asiamah Was Sacked From Her Daughter’s House

The mother of jailed evangelist Nana Agradaa has publicly addressed swirling rumours that Sofo Asiamah, a close associate of her daughter, was thrown out of her house following her imprisonment.

Speaking during an appearance at Heaven’s Way Chapel on Sunday, the elderly woman firmly dismissed the claims as “terrible lies,” urging the public not to entertain such falsehoods.

According to her, Sofo Asiamah remains a respected and loyal figure in the family’s life and ministry.

“Sofo Asiamah is a good man. There’s no truth to these rumours and we, as a family, have no bad intentions toward him,” she stated, defending him against the allegations that have sparked debate on social media in recent days.

The viral rumour began after Nana Agradaa’s brother, known as Sofo 1 Gig, shared a video in which he appeared to brag about having successfully removed Sofo Asiamah from his sister’s residence.

The video quickly spread across various platforms, fuelling speculation of internal conflict among Agradaa’s supporters and family members in the wake of her 15-year jail sentence.

However, Nana Agradaa’s mother clarified that it was Sofo 1 Gig who tried — and failed — to have Asiamah removed from the house.

She condemned her son’s actions and accused him of stirring unnecessary controversy during an already difficult time for the family.

“It was his plan to sack Asiamah, but the plan didn’t work,” she explained. “He should stop spreading lies. This is not the time for division.”
