Guru said I’d flop after Lynx, but he’s a President now so I won’t mind him – Kuami Eugene

Ghanaian singer and songwriter Kuami Eugene has addressed past comments made by rapper Guru, who once predicted that Eugene’s career would flop after leaving Lynx Entertainment.

However, the “Monica” hitmaker has chosen to respond with maturity and grace.

In an interview with Doreen Avio on Joy Entertainment, Kuami Eugene acknowledged the long-standing tension between himself and Guru but made it clear that he holds no grudge, especially in light of Guru’s current position as President of the University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (SRC).

“Guru made a comment about me flopping after Lynx, but he’s a president now,” Kuami Eugene said. “I respect that, and for that reason, I won’t say much about Guru.”

The rift between the two artists dates back several years, when Guru publicly criticized Kuami Eugene and others at Lynx Entertainment over issues related to collaborations and alleged industry gatekeeping.

His assertion that Eugene would not thrive independently raised eyebrows at the time.

However, since parting ways with Lynx, Kuami Eugene has continued to release hit songs, perform on major stages, and grow his personal brand, proving critics wrong with a string of successful solo efforts.

Guru, born Maradona Yeboah Adjei, made headlines in 2024 when he enrolled at the University of Ghana and later won the SRC presidential elections, a move that surprised many but also drew admiration for his pursuit of education and leadership.

KSM Urges NDC Appointees To Reject Corrupt Mindset While In Power

0

Renowned Ghanaian satirist and media icon Kwaku Sintim-Misa, popularly known as KSM, has hailed the recent arrest of former GIHOC Managing Director Maxwell Kofi Jumah, calling it a pivotal moment in the nation’s ongoing battle against entrenched corruption.

Jumah was taken into custody by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on June 29, 2025, over allegations of state asset theft, including the acquisition of a Genesis G90 luxury vehicle reportedly purchased at just 5% of its actual market value.

Addressing the issue in a video on his YouTube platform, KSM did not mince words. He blasted the entrenched mentality among some public officials who see political appointments as gateways to personal enrichment.

“This was a mentality that they’re here to reap and loot the country. Even with nothing to loot, the little that was there, they took,” he said, adding that while his remarks weren’t meant to be personal, he welcomed the news of Jumah’s arrest.

“It’s nothing personal, but I was happy to know that work is being done and that Kofi Jumah has been picked up by National Security in Kumasi. Work is being done, and he is not the only one,” KSM said.

He expressed hope that such arrests would become part of a broader accountability campaign that targets all who exploit public office. “If those who looted are being picked up one by one, that will send a signal that Ghanaians are sick and tired of being sick and tired, and they are saying ‘never again,’” he declared.

KSM also delivered a pointed warning to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), urging the party to ensure its officials do not fall into the same patterns of abuse.

“If the NDC’s appointees adopt this mindset, it’ll be a monumental disaster,” he cautioned.

He ended his monologue with a call for unity and a renewed national purpose, urging politicians and citizens alike to move beyond partisanship. “Resetting means thinking as one nation, one destiny. Stay focused; this isn’t the season for political games,” KSM said.

KK Fosu Declares Himself ‘Prince Of Highlife’ And Pledges Loyalty To Genre’s Living Legends

During his performance at the Amakye Dede at 50 Years of Music concert in London, Ghanaian highlife singer, KK Fosu, stirred the crowd with more than just music; he declared himself the “Prince of Highlife.”

In a genre built by giants and layered with decades of cultural pride, the declaration could have easily been more grandiose. With a successful career spanning years of hit songs, few would challenge his claim if he had chosen the title of “king.” But for KK Fosu, the throne belongs to those who came before.

Explaining the meaning behind his self-chosen title in a June 21 interview with Graphic Showbiz, KK emphasized that his choice was deliberate and deferential. “The title of prince reflects both respect and humility,” he said.

His respect for the genre’s pioneers is unwavering. Rather than crown himself atop a tradition still thriving with living legends, he sees himself as part of an evolving lineage, one still deeply influenced by those who shaped its foundations.

“There are kings in the Highlife world who are still active and relevant. They are our inspiration, and we keep tapping into their knowledge. I mean, I am still learning from them, so how can I call myself a king?” he reflected.

KK Fosu asserted that highlife is far more than a musical genre, it is the pulse of Ghanaian identity, a vessel of shared heritage and generational wisdom. “Highlife isn’t something to take lightly or see as a myth. Highlife is real. It’s our life, culture, our root,” he said, urging today’s artistes to preserve its spirit even as they adapt to new sounds.

He called on younger musicians to balance creativity with reverence, noting that survival in today’s shifting music industry depends on blending innovation with deep respect for the genre’s roots. “We cannot afford to lose our way. And the only way to survive in this space is to create good music and listen to the legends who walk among us,” he added.

“My signature line is ‘we don’t stop,’ and that’s more than a motto; it’s my mantra,” the ‘Sudwe’ composer declared.

Kuami Eugene Hails Amaarae’s Global Rise

Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene has praised Amaarae as a groundbreaking talent whose brilliance is finally catching the attention of mainstream audiences, recognition he believes is long overdue.

In a recent interview with Doreen Avio about Ghanaian artistes gaining international traction, Kuami Eugene showered admiration on Amaarae, referring to her as his “big sister” and an unacknowledged legend.

“Amaarae is my big sister. She’s a legend, though. But the funny thing is it has never been quiet with Amare. It’s just her circle… That’s where she finds herself,” he noted.

According to Kuami Eugene, Amaarae’s sound has always captivated a specific niche, alternative and global music fans, which may have limited her visibility within Ghana’s broader music scene.

“People she used to appeal to is not the regular Ghanaian masses. She’s been making waves since. It’s just quite sad that people are now getting to know Amare. But I’m excited they’re getting to know Amare now because the talent she has is insane,” he added.

While reflecting on Amaarae’s rise, Kuami Eugene also opened up about his own evolution, marked not just by his departure from Lynx Entertainment but also by a symbolic transformation in his appearance.

He recently debuted a completely new haircut, a departure from his signature twisted and braided styles, which he said represents a fresh chapter in his artistic and personal life.

“I woke up one morning and it’s been a long time, when I got signed to Lynx. It’s been changing hairstyle from one hairstyle to another hairstyle, but I’ve not had a down cut for a very long time, for about six years. I’ll twist it, then I will do this and I will unbraid it, leaving the afro. I changed it just to show a new look and the fact that it’s a new beginning for me from Lynx. It’s a transition from the Lynx boy to your family, sweet boy Kwami Eugene,” he explained.

The ‘Monica’ hitmaker made it clear that this transformation is not just cosmetic, it’s an intentional signal of growth and a pivot toward a more independent musical identity.

Kwaku Manu Claims S3x Toys Are Ruining Relationships And Women’s Satisfaction In The Bedroom

Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu has stirred controversy following his outspoken views on women’s growing use of sex toys, which he claims are wreaking havoc on intimate relationships.

Appearing on United Showbiz over the weekend, Kwaku Manu voiced concern over what he described as a disturbing trend of women relying on pleasure devices to the detriment of their natural intimacy and emotional connection with their partners.

“Those machines and devices that some women use to please themselves are destroying their vaginas. Right now, they can’t even be satisfied when they have intercourse with their partners,” he stated.

Manu pointed out that many women have become so accustomed to the stimulation from these devices that traditional intercourse no longer satisfies them unless their partner can replicate the intense sensations.

“A man will do all the work and the woman will say she’s not satisfied because he’s not vibrating like how her toys do. It’s destroying marriages,” he emphasized.

According to him, this growing dependence on sex toys is placing unfair pressure on men and contributing to rising tensions within romantic partnerships.
