Ghanaian artiste, King Paluta, sparked controversy during a recent show in London after launching into a heated tirade against a female fan who reportedly criticized his stage performance.

The dramatic moment happened at an All-White Boat Party, where the “Aseda” hitmaker was performing. A video circulating online shows Paluta abruptly pausing his act to lash out at an unidentified woman in the crowd, branding her “foolish” and hurling insults, some of which were unprintable.

Piracy Is Killing Our Passion – Shirley Frimpong-Manso Decries Creative Industry Crisis

0

Renowned filmmaker Shirley Frimpong-Manso has issued a sobering warning about the destructive impact of piracy and copyright abuse on Ghana’s creative industry, describing it as a silent crisis draining the lifeblood from local innovation.

At the premiere of her debut stage play, Honeymoon Hotel, on June 20, 2025, at the National Theatre, Frimpong-Manso shared a raw and passionate critique of the systemic neglect plaguing intellectual property rights in the country.

“It’s absolutely devastating. Imagine pouring your heart and soul into a project for months or even years, only to have it snatched away the moment it’s released. How are we supposed to survive like this?” she told Graphic Showbiz.

Piracy, she argued, doesn’t just affect sales, it erodes morale and creative momentum.

“Piracy doesn’t just steal films; it extinguishes the passion behind them, discouraging their journey and dreams and sends a chilling message to creators: ‘Don’t bother trying’. That’s the reality for many of us,” she lamented.

According to Frimpong-Manso, this unchecked exploitation is not only damaging to individuals but also cripples the broader film ecosystem, costing jobs, revenue, and artistic advancement.

She stressed that while Ghanaian filmmakers have made tremendous strides over the years, their progress is under siege due to a lack of protection for their work. For her, the era of endless dialogue must now give way to concrete policy reform.

“We’ve talked about this for years. We’ve had enough discussions; we need real, enforceable action! This isn’t just a plea; it’s a necessity. Protecting our creative works must be a priority for our authorities,” she urged.

However, her appeal didn’t stop at government action. Frimpong-Manso turned her attention to the public, calling on Ghanaians to examine the role they play in sustaining or sabotaging the industry.

“Every time you choose pirated content, you’re undermining not just filmmakers but the entire community of artists, technicians, and storytellers who give so much to create meaningful experiences. Piracy robs us all.”

She concluded with a call for solidarity, encouraging audiences to champion homegrown talent with the same energy they invest in international productions.

If You Silence Me, I’ll Throw Away My Bible – Agradaa Dares

Nana Agradaa is refusing to back down in her legal clash with gospel artiste Empress Gifty. Barely 24 hours after a Tema High Court dismissed her motion to halt a defamation suit, she took to social media with a fiery response.

On June 26, 2025, both women faced off in court for the second time since Empress Gifty filed a GH¢20 million defamation claim against Agradaa. Justice P. Baffoe-Bonnie not only struck out Agradaa’s request for an injunction but also slapped her with a GH¢6,000 fine.

Rather than retreat, Agradaa doubled down online, posting a defiant video where she warned of more confrontations if anyone tried to mute her.

“The only thing you people need is an injunction. If you manage to get one that stops me from coming on social media, I will throw my Bible away. You’re a joker. If you attack me, I’ll strip you bare,” she declared in the post.

Positioning herself as the victim, Agradaa accused Empress Gifty of provoking her and then seeking court protection when faced with retaliation.

“You start a fight and insult me first. But when I respond, you run to court seeking an injunction. I’ll deal with you on social media. You can go to court a hundred times,” she added.

In a surprising twist, Agradaa also hinted at launching her own legal counterattack.

“I’ll massage and discipline you online. I also have the right to sue for defamation, especially when Sammy Gyamfi gave me money and you insulted me for it.”

As tensions between the two public figures continue to build, the case is scheduled to resume in court on July 16, 2025.

No More Compromises For Event Promoters – Black Sherif’s Team Draws The Line After Takoradi Chaos

Black Sherif’s management says it’s done compromising standards for local event organisers following a chaotic scene at the Unifest concert in Takoradi on June 21, 2025. The incident, which saw angry fans hurl bottles and sachet water at the rapper during his performance, has prompted a policy shift within his team.

During an interview with GhanaWeb’s Joseph Jenry Mensah, the artiste’s Public Relations Officer, Kingsley, explained that tensions between Black Sherif’s camp and the organisers led to a delayed stage appearance, one that ultimately sparked frustration among the crowd.

The team, he revealed, had previously tried to accommodate Ghanaian promoters out of goodwill, but those gestures have rarely been reciprocated with professionalism.

“We will not be merciful to anyone again in the name of you being a Ghanaian,” Kingsley said. “We have been lenient enough knowing that these are our people, but the more you bring the bar of professionalism down a little bit, that’s when they start misbehaving.”

According to Kingsley, the Takoradi event was not an isolated case. He recalled several past instances where Ghanaian promoters failed to follow proper procedures, yet shifted the blame onto the artiste when problems emerged.

“So now we will uphold the standard of professionalism we operate with across the world, which would be the same standard we will uphold here in Ghana because our promoters here don’t learn. And this is not the first time this has happened to us or any other Ghanaian artiste,” he said.

The PRO further lamented how event organisers often manipulate public perception to escape scrutiny, knowing the court of public opinion tends to target musicians first.

“It is, has become a behavioural pattern that people just operate anyhow and now after everything they would just swing the blame on the part of the artiste and the court of public opinion will now castigate their sanctions on the part of the artiste,” Kingsley noted.

Shatta Wale Declares Medikal As Sarkodie’s Natural Successor In Ghana Rap Scene

0

Dancehall superstar Shatta Wale has sparked a fresh wave of debate in Ghana’s music space after confidently stating that rapper Medikal is destined to take over from Sarkodie as the next king of rap in the country.

In a recent interview with US-based Ghanaian blogger Firestick, the outspoken artist heaped praise on Medikal’s influence, charisma, and originality, arguing that the “Stubborn Academy” rapper is already shaping the next generation of Ghanaian rap acts.

“Medikal will be able to succeed Sarkodie hands down,” Shatta Wale said assertively.

He explained that Medikal’s unique flow and delivery have made such a significant impact that many up-and-coming rappers are now imitating his style.

“What Medikal does is what most of the boys learn. The way Medikal raps is how plenty of the boys also rap. It’s just that we don’t speak the truth here,” he added.

Sarkodie, widely regarded as the gold standard of Ghanaian hip-hop, has maintained his dominance in the industry for over a decade with his lyrical dexterity and international reach. However, Shatta Wale believes it is time to recognise Medikal not just as a hitmaker, but as a legitimate heir to Sarkodie’s throne.

Social media reactions have been mixed, with fans of both artists weighing in on the bold declaration.

While some agree with Shatta Wale’s take, others argue that Medikal still has a long way to go to match Sarkodie’s legacy.

Shatta Wale Fires Back at Fan Over Claims of Repainting His Lamborghini Urus

0

Ghanaian dancehall heavyweight Shatta Wale has responded with trademark bravado to a fan who questioned the authenticity of his newly unveiled purple Lamborghini Urus.

The social media showdown began shortly after the “On God” hitmaker shared photos of a flashy purple Lamborghini on his platforms, proudly presenting it as his latest luxury acquisition.

The post stirred excitement among his loyal fan base but also triggered skepticism from some quarters.

One X user with the handle @CityBoss casted doubt on the announcement and implied that the purple vehicle was merely a resprayed version of the yellow Lamborghini Urus Shatta Wale had previously flaunted in September 2024.

In a swift clapback that captured attention across social media platforms, Shatta Wale replied bluntly:

“Open your eyes, na America be dat fool.”

While some fans have backed Shatta Wale and praised his growing fleet of luxury vehicles, others continued to scrutinize the details of the photos shared.

The flamboyant artist is known for his love for luxury cars, and his garage includes a Rolls-Royce, G-Wagon, and multiple high-end sports cars.

The latest Lamborghini dispute adds another chapter to his public image as Ghana’s most unapologetic showman.

For now, whether it’s a brand-new whip or a custom paint job, one thing is clear—Shatta Wale knows how to keep the spotlight firmly on himself.
