Jack Alolome Defends Political Endorsements, Recounts Disappointment With NPP And Praise For NDC

0

Gospel singer Jack Alolome is pushing back against the idea that musicians, particularly those in the gospel space, should steer clear of politics.

In an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, the veteran singer questioned public discomfort with faith-based figures declaring political affiliations.

“Why do people say that?” Alolome asked, dismissing the notion that political endorsements could mislead his followers. “If anyone misses the way to heaven because of that, they chose and decided to backslide themselves.”

He suggested that aligning with a political cause could in fact be a patriotic act. “Perhaps, we are using our influence to help save the country when it is derailed,” he said.

Alolome disclosed that he once identified with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), partly due to his upbringing. “I was the child of diehard NPP supporters,” he explained. In 2016, he accepted an invitation from Sam Pyne to perform at an NPP rally at the Kumasi Sports Stadium, cutting short a separate engagement in Breman Asikuma to attend.

Recalling the event, Alolome said: “We came and gave a great performance – I was introduced by Lord Inusah. I even created a song on the spot for the party. But after all that, whoever I called for payment referred me to someone else. We were never paid.”

He emphasized that seeking compensation was neither greedy nor unprincipled. “We had the right to be paid,” he stated, adding that his team had also sacrificed their schedules to honour the event.

Disillusioned by the experience, Alolome accepted a subsequent offer from Hon. Armah Kofi Buah of the NDC, who hails from the same town. This marked a turning point.

“On the day, the DJ struggled to play my song, so I had to perform a cappella,” he recalled. “I did that for about five minutes on stage. Later, when I returned to my hotel, they came to thank me for gracing the occasion. When I checked the money they had left for me, it was GHS20,000 – back in 2016. I placed it on my bed, took a picture, and sent it to my family, telling them this party was better and that we should be with them instead.”

Alolome was clear that his support for the NDC wasn’t transactional. It stemmed from feeling respected and valued, in stark contrast to his prior experience with the NPP.

“The [NPP] party came to power and performed the worst,” he declared, criticising the Akufo-Addo administration and reaffirming his support for John Mahama.

He described it as “divine grace” to be given the opportunity to sing before President Mahama took the stage. The emotional shift inspired his hit gospel track Begye Yen (“Come Save Us”).

Alolome recounted how the song resonated within NDC circles, “They told me they loved the song. And truly, it made an impact.”

Despite his growing proximity to the political space, the gospel singer said he has modest expectations. “My education was not deep enough,” he admitted, suggesting he doesn’t expect top government appointments but would welcome “generous acts of kindness and befitting contracts.”

Socrate Safo Admits Jealousy Over NDC’s Embrace Of Creative Talent

Veteran Ghanaian filmmaker Socrate Safo has openly expressed envy toward creatives affiliated with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), citing what he describes as a deeper appreciation for artistic talent by that party.

During a discussion on Accra-based Okay FM, the outspoken supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) criticized his own party for what he described as a dismissive attitude toward creative professionals during its time in government.

“I get jealous of my colleagues in the NDC. Their people have shown that they acknowledge their depth as creatives and are making good use of them. Our people on the other hand will look at you in a very condescending manner thinking they are better than you,” Safo stated.

His remarks came in the wake of actress Kalsoume Sinare’s appointment as Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain, a move he praised as evidence of the NDC’s willingness to empower artists and utilize their potential for national development.

According to Safo, the contrast between how the two major political parties treat creative talents is stark.

He believes the NPP, his own party, has often failed to recognize the value of individuals in the creative arts sector simply because they lack traditional academic qualifications.

“We had the creatives who could do excellent jobs but they were overlooked just because they claim they don’t have degrees,” Socrate Safo lamented.

Court Orders Medikal Served Via Social Media In GH₵15M Copyright Lawsuit By Alabaster Box

Ghanaian rapper Medikal is now facing legal pressure after a High Court in Accra approved a motion for substituted service in a copyright infringement case brought against him by gospel group Alabaster Box.

The legal action stems from allegations that Medikal unlawfully sampled Alabaster Box’s classic track “Akwaaba” in his song “Welcome to Africa.” The group is demanding GH₵15 million in damages, citing both infringement and reputational harm due to what they describe as the offensive content of the rapper’s track.

After multiple unsuccessful attempts to personally serve the writ of summons, the gospel group’s lawyers petitioned the court for substituted service. On June 12, 2025, the court granted the request, allowing legal documents to be delivered through Medikal’s verified social media platforms and his manager’s WhatsApp, in addition to being posted on the High Court’s notice board.

The court’s directive reads:

i) By pasting a copy of the Writ of Summons and Statement of Claim on the High Court Notice Board, Law Court Complex in Accra.

ii) By serving copies of the Writ of Summons and Statement of Claim on Defendant through his verified social media handles on Facebook, Instagram and X namely; Medikal, amgmedikal and Medikalbyk respectively.

iii) By serving a copy through the defendant’s Manager, Kofi Jam on his registered WhatsApp number.

Alabaster Box alleges that the first ten seconds of Medikal’s track are a direct derivative of their original work. The group, which has toured globally and once performed for Queen Elizabeth at Westminster Abbey, argues that the rapper’s version, laced with “expressive profanity, vulgarity and unprintable words”, has negatively impacted their brand.

In their suit, they assert ownership of exclusive rights to “Akwaaba” in both Ghana and the UK. They are seeking GH₵10 million in compensation for copyright violation and an additional GH₵5 million in exemplary damages, citing Medikal’s deliberate misuse of their music and the damage caused to their reputation.

Further, they are asking the court to compel Medikal to provide an account of all earnings from the song and to remove it from all streaming platforms.

Ghanaian entertainer Yaa Jackson has made it clear she won’t bend to public expectations or tame her bold style just to fit in. Unmoved by critics, the actress-turned-singer says staying authentic is non-negotiable in a world that constantly demands conformity.

In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, Yaa Jackson addressed the ongoing chatter around her fashion choices, dismissing the criticism with calm conviction.

“Oh, the comments! I’m not worried about what people say about my style. Fashion is subjective, and I’m all about being true to myself. If people love it, great! If not, that’s okay too,” she said, affirming that her daring looks are deliberate and deeply personal.

She emphasized that the real her isn’t always what the public sees: “I won’t change for someone else’s idea of style. Besides, on an ordinary day, you will not see Yaa Jackson dressed like that,” she added.

Yaa, who rose to fame as a child actress in Kumawood, has successfully expanded her reach into music, an art form she says allows her even greater emotional expression.

“Honestly, I love both music and acting. I think they’re both forms of storytelling, just in different ways. Right now, I’m leaning more towards music because it allows me to express myself in a personal and raw way. However, I will continue to explore both passions,” she told Graphic Showbiz.

Now with a new single out titled Moses, released on June 6, 2025, the multi-talented star is shifting focus toward spreading joy and hope through her sound.

“My new single is all about spreading love. It’s titled Moses, and it’s a fusion of R&B and Afrobeat. The song is out now, and the video will be dropping soon on YouTube,” she revealed.

Celebrated media personality Kpekpo Maxwell Justice, affectionately known as KMJ, has opened up about the struggles that shaped his rise to success, painting a vivid picture of resilience, hustle, and self-belief.

In a candid interview on Joy Prime, the radio and television host shared how he started from the streets, selling sachet water—locally known as “Opinyin Dipinyin”—to make ends meet as a young boy.

“I’ve done this. I’ve sold pure water,” KMJ revealed. “My mum had a big freezer and so I said I wouldn’t let this go to waste. I used to tie the water in rubbers, freeze them, and sell them on my head.”

Despite being seen by his schoolmates while hawking, KMJ said he was never embarrassed.

“My schoolmates would see me selling them, but I didn’t have a problem with that,” he said, demonstrating the unshakable confidence and determination that would later define his career.

In a lighthearted moment during the interview, KMJ chuckled as he recalled a memory involving an old acquaintance named Sheila. “Sheila was amazed… actually, I think she still has a video of me sewing on the ceiling,” he said with a laugh, hinting at the many creative side hustles he juggled in his youth.

Reflecting on his journey, KMJ credited his work ethic and mindset to a childhood shaped by necessity and grit.

“I grew up knowing very well that if I wanted to be anything, I needed to work for it,” he said. “My dad wasn’t always around, and that situation taught me not to rely on anyone but myself.”

Now a respected voice in Ghanaian media, KMJ’s story is inspiring many, especially young people navigating their own challenging paths. His message is clear: success doesn’t always start from a place of comfort, but with hard work and belief, dreams can still take flight.

MC Yaa Yeboah Defends Hajia4Reall Amid Snitch Allegations Following FBI Fraud Crackdown

0

Popular media personality and entertainment pundit, MC Yaa Yeboah, has come to the defence of embattled Ghanaian socialite and musician Hajia4Reall, following a wave of social media accusations linking her to the recent arrests of alleged fraudsters connected to a $100 million cybercrime ring.

During an appearance on UTV’s United Showbiz program, Yaa Yeboah addressed growing speculation that Hajia4Reall had cooperated with the FBI, allegedly providing key information that led to the arrest of several Ghanaian nationals, including the notorious Kofi Boat and two others identified by the aliases “Agony” and a third unnamed individual.

The trio are currently facing extradition to the United States over their alleged involvement in elaborate romance scams and money laundering activities.

Social media platforms have since been ablaze with claims that Hajia4Reall “snitched” to save herself from her own legal troubles, prompting fierce public debate.

But MC Yaa Yeboah pushed back firmly, arguing that if Hajia4Reall indeed provided information to the FBI, she did so within the confines of the law — and possibly even out of civic duty.

“Let’s assume Hajia4Reall was the one who provided the FBI with this information,” Yaa Yeboah said on air. “What wrong would she have done? It would actually be against our Criminal Offences Act if she had prior knowledge of individuals engaging in illicit activities and chose to remain silent.”

Citing Section 20 of Ghana’s Criminal Offences Act, she emphasized that knowingly withholding information about criminal activity could itself constitute a punishable offence.

She further stated that whistleblowers should not be vilified but rather appreciated for aiding in the fight against crime.

Yaa Yeboah also issued a strong warning to critics branding Hajia4Reall a “snitch,” stressing that the FBI does not make arrests based on hearsay or social media gossip. “The FBI works with solid intelligence and background checks,” she noted.

“Throwing accusations around not only tarnishes reputations, it could also endanger lives.”

As legal proceedings unfold and more details emerge, MC Yaa Yeboah’s stance has reignited important conversations about civic responsibility, legal obligations, and how society treats individuals who cooperate with law enforcement in high-profile criminal cases.

Ohemaa Woyeje Shares Encouraging Update On Okomfour Kwadee’s Mental Health Recovery

Ghanaian hiplife artiste Okomfour Kwadee is reportedly on the path to recovery after undergoing months of psychiatric care, according to radio presenter Ohemaa Woyeje.

Speaking on United Showbiz on Saturday, June 21, 2025, Ohemaa Woyeje revealed that the musician’s mental health has significantly improved, thanks to an intervention by an unidentified benefactor who placed him in a rehabilitation facility.

“Currently his condition is okay, he looks very fine. But we don’t know the person who sent him to the care home. Like I said he is fine. But you know since he is stable right now he doesn’t have to stay there,” she said.

Despite the positive update, Woyeje pointed out that Kwadee’s long-term wellbeing depends on finding a safe and supportive environment that will help him avoid relapse.

“His mother even called me to ask me if there is any place he can stay so that he won’t go back to the drugs anymore,” she shared.

According to her, efforts are underway to secure a stable living arrangement that limits outside influence, especially from individuals who might reintroduce the artist to substance abuse.

“His mother is in Accra right now. I spoke to the MUSIGA president and the funds Kwadee received are with him. So we are looking for a place that can accommodate him. A place where people won’t get access to him. And influencing him into doing drugs again,” Ohemaa Woyeje disclosed.

Efia Odo Criticizes Keche Joshua Over Controversial Comparison Between Yaa Jackson And Gyakie

Ghanaian socialite Efia Odo has publicly criticized musician Keche Joshua for stirring controversy after declaring Yaa Jackson a better singer than Gyakie.

The comment, made by Joshua in a circulating video with ZionFelix, where he praised Yaa Jackson’s latest release, ignited a wave of online backlash. While expressing admiration for the young singer’s performance, Joshua confidently claimed she surpassed Gyakie in vocal talent.

His remarks quickly spread across social media, sparking intense debate among fans and celebrities. One of the most vocal responses came from Efia Odo, who took issue not only with the comparison itself but with the divisive culture it promotes in Ghana’s entertainment industry.

“There’s enough room on the table for everyone to enjoy. No need to bring someone down to uplift another,” she wrote.

Efia Odo further explained that these types of comparisons contribute to the stagnation of the local music scene, pointing out how competition often overshadows collaboration.

“This is our main problem in the industry! Everyone wants to be the only one on top when the sky is big enough for all of us,” she added, urging for unity rather than division within the creative space.

Meanwhile, Joshua, in a comment after his assertion, claimed he was ‘playing’.
