How A Simple Mistake Got Kwaku Manu Denied Entry In Amsterdam

0

Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu has opened up about a difficult experience from his very first trip outside Ghana, one that ended before it truly began.

Speaking in an interview with ZionFelix, the actor recounted how he was stopped at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and eventually put on a return flight after failing to convince immigration officers about the purpose of his visit.

According to him, trouble started almost immediately after landing. He said he was unable to provide the full name and address of the person he had planned to stay with because he only knew the individual by a nickname, a detail that raised red flags during questioning.

He explained that he had faced several challenges while travelling over the years, including that particular incident where he was denied entry. He admitted that at the airport, he forgot the person’s real name, and when officials requested specific details, he could not give any beyond the nickname he had.

Kwaku Manu also reflected on his own behaviour during the encounter, suggesting that he may have worsened the situation. He noted that although the officers were not asking many questions, he kept talking and even requested Wi-Fi access, which was denied.

Looking back, he believes the entire episode may have been a form of divine protection. In his view, the setback prevented him from walking into a potentially troubling situation.

He went on to describe what happened after he was taken aside. He said he was placed in a room where he saw a mattress and decided to lie down and sleep. At one point, an officer questioned whether he genuinely intended to enter the country or preferred to remain there resting, a moment he now recalls with some irony.

He also shared that he tried to convince the officer of his public profile by mentioning that he was a celebrity and suggesting his name be searched online. While the officer began typing, starting with his surname, he interrupted to insist that his first name be entered instead, even though either order would have produced the same result.

In hindsight, Kwaku Manu believes things unfolded for a reason. He concluded that the person he intended to visit was not suitable, and gaining entry might have led him into difficulty, reinforcing his belief that the experience was a warning rather than a setback.

Stonebwoy Details Life-Threatening Accident That Forced Him To Miss BECE

0

At age 13, Stonebwoy survived a near-fatal road accident that left him hospitalised for months and forced him to miss his BECE exams.

In a recent interview with Kafui Dey, the popular Ghanaian artiste revisited the traumatic crash. He was travelling with his father and sister along the motorway from Accra to Tema when the incident occurred.

His father had pulled over briefly near Action Chapel International when events took a sudden turn.

“The only thing I can make of the accident is that it’s God’s plan. It was on the motorway. We were driving back from Accra to Tema with my dad and sister. My dad was the one driving, so we pulled over briefly right opposite the Action Chapel.

“Then the car from Tema to Accra somersaulted and crashed into ours. It was a police car and I saw the vehicle coming towards us. The only thing I could do was to shout and I passed out,” he recounted.

He said he regained consciousness at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, confused and unable to immediately locate his family.

“When I woke up, I found myself in Korle-Bu. I didn’t see my dad and sister when I woke up. My dad had some injuries, and my sister suffered head fractures, but thankfully, they’re good now,” he said.

The accident left him with severe knee injuries that required extensive medical care.

“That’s how my knees got messed up. My knees were badly damaged, though the bones were still intact,” he explained.

He spent nearly four months in hospital recovering, a period that disrupted his academic plans at a critical stage.

“I was thirteen years old, so that was the beginning of my life. I stayed in the hospital for about four months. It was almost like a few months to write my BECE when the accident happened.

“I tried to write the exams in the hospital, and my mum did all she could to allow me, but I couldn’t get to write.”

Determined not to fall behind, he later joined the next batch of students and studied from home using notes from his juniors.

“I came back home and joined the batch behind me, and I had to read from home. I had to collect some of my juniors’ notes, and eventually, I was the top two of the batch,” the Bhim Nation boss stated.

No Political Agenda – Guru Explains Why He Studied Political Science

0

Speculation about Guru’s academic background and a possible political future has been building, but the musician says the narrative is off track, stressing that his study of Political Science was never meant as a gateway into public office.

In a recent discussion on the Atuu show with Nana Romeo, the Ghanaian artiste recounted how his return to the classroom had little to do with a calculated shift away from music. Instead, he pointed to sustained pressure from home and a moment of reflection during a break in his career as the real push behind that decision.

For years, he said, his parents had pressed him to complete his education after he chose to focus on music early on. That long-standing expectation eventually caught up with him, prompting a change of heart.

“My parents wanted me to finish my education, but I jumped into doing music, so I was being hunted, and I hadn’t fulfilled my parents’ investment wishes. I was also noted to be doing music at a point, and that is what pushed me back to school,” he explained

Guru also addressed what he described as a widespread misunderstanding about his time at the University of Ghana, explaining that Political Science was not his original course of study.

“I went to Legon to study a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. I went there because of IT. I switched to Political Science because UTAH went on strike, which delayed me for a few weeks, so that I couldn’t catch up with the rest of the class,” he explained.

The switch, though unplanned, ended up opening doors beyond academics. He pointed to his tenure as SRC president as one of the key outcomes, framing it as hands-on leadership experience rather than a deliberate move toward politics.

“Out of the political science, I realized I had to put my studies into action and later use it as my work reference of what I studied,” Guru stressed.

Stonebwoy Emotionally Opens Up On His Mother’s Death; Says He Still Hasn’t Recovered From It

Ghanaian dancehall star, Stonebwoy, has shared an emotional account of the pain he continues to carry ten years after the death of his mother, Catherine Satekla, describing the loss as one he has never fully come to terms with.

Speaking in a candid interview with media personality Kafui Dey, the award-winning musician reflected on the deep bond he shared with his mother, whom he described as his “rock.”

While acknowledging the support of his father, Stonebwoy emphasised that the connection he had with his mother was irreplaceable, making her passing particularly devastating.

Recounting the heartbreaking moment, the artiste revealed that the tragedy unfolded shortly after a major career milestone. He had just returned from New York, where he had won a prestigious BET Award, when he rushed straight to the 37 Military Hospital upon hearing of his mother’s illness.

“I had left my bags and everything at the airport because I was rushing,” he said, explaining that he had been told she was unwell but recovering.

However, upon arrival, he was confronted with the devastating reality.

“I was the first person they brought the body to,” he recalled.

Stonebwoy described the shock and disbelief that followed, noting that he had held onto hope that his mother would recover.

“When I saw her lying there, I couldn’t believe it. I still had hope that she would wake up,” he said.

In a deeply emotional recollection, the musician shared how he tried to wake her, urging her to “get up” so they could return home together.

The award-winning artiste admitted that the moment has remained etched in his memory, contributing to a lingering sense of grief and emotional pain.

He also spoke about the confusion surrounding communication from family members during the critical period, noting that some updates were not relayed to him in time—something he says he still struggles to process.

Despite the passage of time and his continued success in music, Stonebwoy revealed that the loss remains a deeply personal wound.

Ghanaian business mogul Osei Kwame Despite warmed hearts over the weekend after a chance encounter with young dancer Afronita and her team at the airport in Kumasi.

The meeting took place at the Prempeh International Airport on Sunday, April 12, 2026, when Afronita and members of the AfroStar Kids Academy were preparing to return to Accra.

The group had travelled from Accra to Kumasi to perform at the ongoing AshantiFest.

In a TikTok video shared by Plus 1 TV, Afronita’s mother confirmed to Despite that the children had successfully completed their performance and were heading back home.

Shortly after, Afronita approached the businessman and greeted him warmly.

Moved by the encounter, Despite reached into his handbag, counted a sum of money in dollars, and handed it over to Afronita and the young dancers.

Although the exact amount remains undisclosed, the gesture appeared substantial, as seen in the video.

Afronita and the children expressed visible excitement and gratitude, smiling as they received the gift from the renowned businessman.

VIDEO: Agya Koo Launches Ghana First Party, Signals Possible Shift from NPP

0

Veteran Kumawood actor Alexander Adu Kofi, popularly known as Agya Koo, has stirred Ghana’s political space after announcing the formation of a new political movement, raising questions about his long-standing affiliation with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

For more than a decade, Agya Koo has been a vocal supporter of the NPP, playing an active role in campaigning efforts that contributed to the electoral victories of former President Nana Akufo-Addo in both the 2016 and 2020 general elections.

However, recent developments within the party appear to have triggered a shift in his political stance.

The actor’s dissatisfaction is believed to be linked to the outcome of the NPP’s presidential primaries held on January 31, 2026. His close associate, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, lost his bid to lead the party, securing 23.76% of the vote.

The contest was decisively won by former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, who polled 56.48%, defeating other contenders including Bryan Acheampong, Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyapong.

In a viral video, Agya Koo unveiled the Ghana First Party (GFP), a new political movement he says aims to challenge the dominance of Ghana’s two major parties—the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, the GFP is envisioned as a “third force” that will offer Ghanaians an alternative political choice.

“We all know that the biggest political parties… always dominate the political landscape. That is why we have considered launching a third force to compete with the two parties and keep them alert,” he stated.

Agya Koo indicated that the movement is already gaining traction, with individuals from all 16 regions expressing interest in joining the initiative.

He described the Ghana First Party as a coalition-driven effort aimed at building a strong political base across the country.

Outlining his vision, the actor-turned-political figure said the GFP would prioritise the welfare of ordinary Ghanaians, particularly traders, while also promoting tourism and national development.

While Agya Koo has not officially announced his resignation from the NPP, the launch of the Ghana First Party signals a significant shift that could redefine his role in Ghana’s political landscape.

“Everything Has Been Resolved” – Kofi Owusu Aduonum Gives Update On Afua Asantewaa’s Marriage Issue

0

Kofi Owusu Aduonum has finally addressed public curiosity surrounding his marriage to Afua Asantewaa, but his response leans more toward calm appeal than disclosure.

Speaking on UTV’s ‘United Showbiz’, he urged Ghanaians to step back from the ongoing conversation and redirect their attention to prayers for the couple instead of speculation about their private life.

He acknowledged that, like many relationships, theirs has not been without difficulties, but emphasized that he is unwilling to turn those personal moments into public discussion.

“I will plead with you that we should put all our arsenals down… I wouldn’t want to be the topic of discussion, so the only thing I would request from Ghanaians for now is prayers. We have children, and I don’t want them to come across these things on social media,” he said.

According to him, efforts have already been made behind the scenes to resolve whatever concerns had fueled public attention. He added that direct engagement between him and Asantewaa has helped settle the matter.

“I can state with authority that everything has been resolved. We have met in person, so there are no issues between us. All we are asking from Ghanaians is prayers,” Mr Aduonum added.

Stonebwoy Opens Up About Selling His V8 And Range Rover To Invest In Volta Concert

Putting on a major concert in Ghana’s music industry often demands more than creativity and planning, and for Stonebwoy it required a personal financial sacrifice that many would consider significant.

The dancehall artiste has disclosed that he had to part ways with two of his luxury cars to raise funds for his recent show in the Volta Region. He made the revelation during an interview with Kafui Dey.

“I even had to sell my two cars to invest in this show. I sold my V8 and my Range Rover to put into the show,” he revealed.

Reflecting on the decision, he admitted it was not an easy call to make, especially given the value of the assets involved. Still, he stressed that such sacrifices are sometimes part of building something bigger in an industry driven by investment choices and long-term thinking.

“But we understand leveraging and the need to invest in whatever long-term strategy,” the Bhim Nation boss added.
