Paternal Family To Hold Daasebre Gyamenah’s Funeral On April 1

1

Father side of the late highlife musician Daasebre Gyamenah has planned of organising a funeral for their relative.

Uncle of the musician, Mr. Owusu Boakye speaking to zionfeix.net Monday morning disclosed that the paternal family together with the late musician’s fanclub have planned to have the funeral on April 1 at Omanhene’s forecourt in Koforidua. Detailing other activities planned for the funeral ceremony in Koforidua, he announced that there will wake-keeping on March 31 and the funeral will follow the next two days, 1st and 2nd April.

“The mother side sued us so we allowed them to bury him and this is the time for us to have ours together with the widow in Koforidua. We are doing it together with his fanclub so the wake keeping will be on March 31. 1st and 2nd will be the funeral at Omanhene’s forecourt in Koforidua.,” he told Zionfelix.net

Mr. Owusu Boakye continued that the funeral expected to happen on April 1 will be held without a burial service because the maternal side entombed his body. When Zionfelix.net asked if they will invite mother side of the “Kokooko” singer for the funeral, he replied, “We don’t have any funeral plans with them again so they are not part of this one.”

Maternal family had three-day funeral rites for the deceased from Friday, November 25 2016 but members of father’s side were missing during the three-day event.

Daasebre reportedly succumbed to a heart attack at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra on Friday, July 29, 2016.

His death was surrounded by controversy due to the fact that he was also a Muslim with the name Abubakar Siddiq. Shortly after his death, his Muslim family wanted to bury him on that same day. Following deliberations between his Christian and Muslim families, an agreement was reached for burial on a different date.

Daasebre Dwamena’s maternal side in Anomabo however, succeeded in placing an injunction on the funeral following the reluctance from his father’s side in Koforidua to release the body to his mother’s side for burial.

Ghana @ 60 Concert Party: Agya Koo Finally Tells Why He Intentionally Sidelined Liwin

5

Ghanaians who watched Agya Koo, Akrobeto, Maame Serwaa and other Kumawood actors stage a concert party during the 6th March parade at the Black Star square never saw actor Kwadwo Nkansah Liwin.

Rumour had it that Agya Koo who put together the play intentionally did not cast Liwin because he was afraid the young boy would take his shine on the day but the veteran actor has denied the assertion.

Detailing his reasons for excluding his fellow actor, Agya Koo revealed that Liwin was lost when he and his friends were fighting for the industry.

He added that Liwin ones turned down his offer so he saw it right not to invite him this time when this opportunity came.

“Kojo Nkansah was nowhere to be found when we were struggling for the betterment of the industry. By God’s grace we didn’t work in vain, the industry we are experiencing today is the outcome of our toil yesterday, so Liwin can’t disrespect me for any reason. It hurts when your younger brother ignores your invitations severally with reasons best known to him. I thought it wise to safeguard my reputation this time around by not inviting him. This is why he wasn’t casted.”Agya Koo told DJ Roar on Kesben FM in Kumasi.

I’ve Regretted Not Taking Miss Ghana 2010 Competition Too Serious – Feli Nuna

6

Songstress Feli Nuna is not happy with herself after failing to take Miss Ghana competition serious when she was a contestant seven years ago.

The young lady who was one of the 20 finalists for Miss Ghana 2010 in a chat with MzGee on Hitz FM’s ‘Showbiz This Week’ entertainment show disclosed that she joined the beauty pageant because she wanted a well-respected platform to exhibit her talent for the world to know that she has a gift. The ‘I Like Am’ hitmaker added that she also wanted a stage to enhance her stagecraft since she wanted to be a musician so that things will not be difficult for her when she becomes the mainstream artiste she has always wanted to be.

Born Felicia Nuna Akosua Tawiah, the singer believes she could have won the 2010 edition of the beauty pageant but the only mistake she committed seven years ago was not taking Miss Ghana serious. She told MzGee that she has regretted not taking the event serious when she had the chance to compete with other 19 ladies for the prestigous crown.

“I was actually singing and rapping before Miss Ghana and I had always loved the (Miss Ghana) stage. I had also wanted to get accustomed to the stage and crowd because I knew that I want to do music and I’ll be performing n front of million people.

I’m sure I would have won Miss Ghana but I didn’t take it too seriously. I always bash myself for it because I was just having fun and wanted only the stage. I didn’t really care about the whole pageant.

It was fun because we got to network and meet new people. I was in the top 20 but I wasn’t part of the top three queens but it was a great experience. I learnt a lot as a woman.” she said.

The Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo has commended the Miss Ghana organization, the oldest pageant in the country.

According to the President, he was impressed with the organization’s various social interventions which has been spearheaded by various winners of the pageant. He said the Miss Ghana pageant “is of real value to Ghana.” The President was speaking at the Flagstaff House on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 when Exclusive Events Ghana, Organisers of the Miss Ghana pageant paid a courtesy call on him. The organization congratulated the President on his victory in the December 2016 elections and on Ghana’s 60th independence anniversary.

The visit was to afford the organisers the opportunity to inform the President of the plans for this year’s pageant (in line with the Country’s 60th independence anniversary) and the future hosting of the Miss World pageant in Ghana. Inna Mariam Patty, CEO of Exclusive Events, who led the delegation which included three former pageant winners, told the president that the Miss Ghana pageant, over the years, had succeeded in promoting Ghana onto the world stage. The former queens present were Sheila Azuntaba Miss Ghana 1996, Afia Marfo Miss Ghana 1998, Selasie Kwawu Miss Ghanan 2001. He also commended the past award winners for their commitment to the Miss Ghana projects.

The Chief Executive Officer of EEGL said winners of the pageant, also concentrated their efforts on the aged, educational, health and environmental sectors of the Ghanaian economy, stating that one of the flagship projects undertaken by the Miss Ghana organisation is the Don Bosco Street Child Project.

“We helped acquired a 10-acre land and built a hostel, where a lot of street children and those who cannot afford to pay their fees are given technical and vocational education. In the last 10 years, we have trained a lot of youth who can also contribute their quota to society,” she said.

With regards to healthcare projects, Inna Patty mentioned that several previous Miss Ghana winners had contributed immensely to minimise infant and maternal mortality rates, especially in the three northern regions. On the environmental front, she revealed that pageant Organisers have partnered with the Forestry Commission to carry out various tree planting exercises across the country. To this end, she indicated that “we are hopeful that the proposal of having national support to host the world event (Miss World pageant) will be given a favourable consideration. Countries lobby to host this prestigious event annually, as it generates millions of dollars in revenue and investment for the successful country. We are hopeful that in the nearest future Ghana, will be ready to host such an event.”
President Akufo-Addo, who thanked the delegation for the courtesy call, further described the Miss Ghana beauty pageant as “an event that promotes and sells the country.” It is for this reason that the President added that the Miss Ghana pageant “is something that should be of concern to all ” since it promotes Ghana as a viable investment and tourism destination.

The ‘Miss Ghana 60 Years On’ beauty pageant is expected to be organised in August this year, as part of the yearlong celebration of the 60th independence anniversary celebration.
