Despite the long-standing tension between Kuami Eugene and DopeNation, the award-winning singer appears to have put rivalry aside to acknowledge the massive success of the duo’s latest smash hit, Kakalika.

In a post making rounds on X, Kuami Eugene reacted to a fan decision to compare his song “I’m Hurt” (Bonus) to DopeNation’s trending anthem “Kakalika” in the race for the Popular Song of the Year category at the 28th Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

Kuami Eugene in his reaction, admitted that the momentum behind “Kakalika” is currently on a completely different level.

“Kakalika popularity dey different planet right now, I’m hurt no dey stand a chance,” Kuami Eugene wrote on X.

The post has since sparked massive reactions online, especially considering the history between the former Lynx Entertainment label mates.

Over the years, both camps have thrown subtle jabs at each other following DopeNation’s departure from the label and Kuami Eugene’s eventual exit as well.

However, music lovers are now praising Kuami Eugene for recognizing the undeniable impact of “Kakalika” despite their differences.

Currently, Kakalika has grown beyond being just another Ghanaian hit song and has gradually turned into a global anthem.

The tune has taken over social media platforms, clubs, stadium celebrations and football dressing rooms across different parts of the world.

Several football stars and players from some of the biggest clubs around the globe have been spotted jamming to the song after scoring goals or celebrating victories with teammates. Videos circulating online continue to show athletes dancing and vibing to the infectious track, further pushing the song’s international appeal.

The growing worldwide attention surrounding the song has also strengthened conversations about its chances of dominating the 2027 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, particularly in categories such as Popular Song of the Year.
