Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale has finally reacted to the ongoing controversy surrounding a cryptic post that many fans believe was aimed at him and rapper Sarkodie following their joint appearance with Stonebwoy and others at Kweku Smoke’s London show.
In a chat with UK-based Nigerian entertainment personality Adesope Olajide, Shatta Wale did not appear bothered by the viral post that triggered heated debate on social media. Instead, he downplayed the entire situation and insisted that he took no offence from it.
According to him, people who are genuinely real do not get offended by such statements because they do not see themselves in the message being passed.
“One has to be fake before they recognise another fake person,” Shatta Wale stated during the discussion.
He further explained that he did not take the post personally, stressing that he does not consider himself a fake personality in the industry.
In his view, he has always shown genuine love and support to people he respects and works with, regardless of industry politics or disagreements.
“I didn’t see anything wrong with it, and I didn’t take it personal. I’m not fake. I show real love to anyone I like,” he said.
Shatta Wale also used the opportunity to address the long-standing divisions in the Ghanaian music industry, calling for unity among the major figures who continue to shape the sound and global image of Ghanaian music.
He mentioned that it was becoming increasingly necessary for artistes such as himself, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and Samini to rise above personal differences and work together as a united front.
According to him, the repeated narratives of rivalry and disagreement between top artistes are becoming one too many and do not help the growth of the industry.
