Prophet Kumchacha Declares Ghana’s Movie Industry And Black Stars Are Under A Serious Curse

0

Outspoken Ghanaian preacher Prophet Nicholas Osei, better known as Prophet Kumchacha, has offered a spiritual explanation for what he sees as the continued decline in Ghana’s film and football industries.

In a recent discussion on UTV’s United Showbiz program, Kumchacha claimed that both Ghana’s movie industry and the national football team, the Black Stars, are plagued by a powerful curse, one he believes lies at the heart of their ongoing struggles.

He dismissed the notion that the country’s difficulties in these sectors are due to a lack of talent or funding, instead pointing to a spiritual crisis that he says must be confronted head-on.

“There is a serious curse hanging over the movie industry and the Black Stars,” he said. “We need quality, not quantity. Even though Nigeria has a larger population than Ghana, that shouldn’t be the reason why our industry is lagging behind.”

Kumchacha partly blamed the so-called curse on what he described as toxic behaviour within Ghana’s creative space. He criticized the prevalence of jealousy, sabotage, and disunity, drawing comparisons with Nigeria’s entertainment scene, where he observed stronger support systems and camaraderie.

Illustrating his point, he referred to the criticism faced by actor and filmmaker Kojo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, over his ambitious movie productions.

“When Lilwin brought out his movie A Country Called Ghana, some Ghanaians – including influential media personalities – spoke against it, instead of supporting him,” Kumchacha pointed out. “And now with President Traoré, it’s the same story. Meanwhile, Nigerians would have rallied behind him without hesitation.”

Concluding his remarks, the Prophet Kumchacha called on Ghanaians to undergo a collective change of heart. According to him, real progress in sports and entertainment will only come if the nation chooses unity over envy and support over cynicism.

A high-energy performance by Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale in Kumasi took an unexpected turn when an overzealous fan caused a brief commotion on stage.

The incident happened on July 19, 2025, during his live set at the Golden Dew Hotel, where he was performing his popular track Taking Over, featuring the SM Militants.

Midway through the performance, a visibly excited fan stormed the stage in an apparent attempt to reach the self-styled Dancehall King. While being pursued by security personnel, the fan collided with Shatta Wale, unintentionally knocking him to the ground.

A video circulating online captures the chaotic moment as security quickly restrained the intruder and removed him from the stage. Shatta Wale, who regained his footing almost immediately, took a moment to address the crowd.

DKB Fires MTN Ghana Over “Suspicious” Data Consumption

0

Popular Ghanaian comedian and media personality DKB has publicly taken on MTN Ghana, accusing the telecom giant of introducing a change in its Turbonet data bundle that he describes as suspicious and disappointing.

In a video that has gone viral across social media platforms, DKB—known for his bold humour and social commentary—voiced his frustration over the rate at which his data was depleting despite an apparent upgrade in bundle size.

“MTN Ghana, what’s the meaning of this?” he exclaimed in the now-trending video.

DKB explained that the previous Turbonet bundle of 92 gigabytes, which he said was part of a package introduced by Minister of Communications Ursula Owusu, used to last him six weeks to two months, even with heavy streaming habits.

However, he revealed that the new bundle, which now offers 214 gigabytes, shockingly ran out in less than three weeks, despite what he described as much lighter use.

“I just bought one less than three weeks ago—this is my second movie I’m watching, and it is finished,” he complained.

“The other one, I watched several movies and series—Squid Game, everything.

Now second movie I’m watching and then normal daily browsing on phone… how can 214 gig last for three weeks when 92 gig lasted for two months?”

DKB ended his rant with a direct call to action, urging MTN Ghana to offer a clear explanation:

“MTN please explain, because I don’t understand this.”

As of now, MTN Ghana has not issued an official response to the comedian’s claims. The issue is already sparking a larger conversation online about data pricing, efficiency, and accountability in Ghana’s telecom industry.

Kaywa Breaks Silence On Kurl Songx’s Abrupt Exit And Return

0

Kaywa, one of Ghana’s top music producers, has opened up about the unexpected departure of his former signee, Kurl Songx, from the label in 2019, an exit that, according to him, came without any formal notice.

During an interview on Hitz FM, Kaywa, the CEO of Highly Spiritual Music, reflected on the strained period leading up to Kurl Songx’s departure, attributing the split to internal tensions and outside influences.

“He left because I think there were maybe other opportunities out there for him. It was not on a good note. There were back and forths. I remember he had an issue with even the artistes on the label too. I’m not sure, there’s any record label that says that I’m signing just you this artiste and nobody else comes on the label again,” Kaywa stated.

He suggested that while Kurl Songx may have believed he was moving on to greater prospects, the decision was also shaped by growing pressure from external voices, including fans and members of the media, who stoked feelings of neglect.

“You see that feeling like once you’re in there and then you’re feeling the attention is not on me. The pressure and usually the fans can cause this; not only the fans but media personalities as well. They will tell you, ‘Leave him, he’s wasting your time. I mean, now they’re projecting other artists.’ So, all these things come to play. And so, like I said, when he wanted to leave, I didn’t say anything. In fact, his exit was not communicated,” he said.

Kaywa noted that juggling multiple artistes can often breed discontent, especially when some begin to feel overshadowed. He emphasized that the situation escalated partly because of perceptions that Kurl Songx was no longer a priority for the label.

In a surprising turn of events, however, Kaywa revealed that Kurl Songx has since returned, this time with humility and a heartfelt apology.

“I’m saying this because, now, as I speak with you, he’s back with me. He’s like, he’s one faithful guy right now. He came apologising and I said, ‘Listen, we all make mistakes,’” he added.

Kaywa averred he believes in second chances and was happy to welcome the artist back, expressing optimism about the renewed working relationship.

Court Adjourns Agradaa And Empress Gifty Case To New Date

0

A defamation suit filed by gospel singer Empress Gifty Adorye against controversial evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, also known as Agradaa, has been postponed to October 10, 2025, following new legal developments.

The Tema High Court, led by Justice Janet Anima Maafo, deferred the hearing on Wednesday, July 16, after Agradaa’s legal team filed a fresh application seeking to amend her entry of appearance. The motion argued that her place of residence had changed due to her incarceration.

Currently serving a 15-year sentence at the Nsawam Prison, Agradaa was not in court and was instead represented by her husband, Angel Asiamah.

Agradaa was sued by Empress Gifty in May 2025, with the gospel musician demanding GH₵20 million in damages for what she claims were defamatory statements made about her on social media. According to the lawsuit, the remarks allegedly tarnished her public image.

Speaking to journalists outside the court, Agradaa’s lawyers explained that legal technicalities prevent a defendant from being tried in a jurisdiction outside their permanent residence, a status that has shifted due to her imprisonment. As a result, they are asking for the case to be relocated to the Eastern Region to ease her court appearances.

Empress Gifty’s legal team confirmed the defense’s intention, revealing that Agradaa’s lawyers are requesting a transfer of the case. However, they criticized the move, suggesting it was a stalling tactic designed to delay proceedings.

He emphasized that “the application presented by Agradaa’s lawyers was a deliberate process to delay the trial.”

Nonetheless, the court allowed Agradaa’s team to present their motion at the next hearing.

The plaintiff’s counsel made it clear they will resist the venue change, arguing the matter should remain before the Tema High Court.

“He added, however, that the court had given the defendant the opportunity to move her application on the adjourned date,” GNA reported.
