Sometimes You Need to Fail To Win – Medikal Reflects on His Journey

0

Medikal has stated that the low points in his career have not slowed him down but instead strengthened his hunger to succeed.

Speaking on Hitz FM, the rapper opened up about how he views failure, stressing that it is an unavoidable part of growth rather than something to be feared or avoided. According to him, difficult experiences often serve as the push artistes need to reach the next level.

“Sometimes, you need to fail to win. That failure shouldn’t break you a human being. It never broke me and I’m still here so there’s a reason why this year we’re campaigning hard for the fans to vote. We have to win something,” he said.

Medikal also addressed the ongoing debate about his role in uplifting other artistes, explaining that his idea of “putting people on” goes beyond encouragement and often includes financial sacrifice. In his view, real support is sometimes measured by what he chooses not to charge.

“If you watch the industry, I’ve put son many people on. Some people say that I just do verse for people and I claim I’ve put people on. I take money for verse and I don’t take less than a GH¢100,000 for a verse. It’s not free and I can show receipts,” he explained.

“If you’re an upcoming artiste and you want a verse from me and I do it for free, it means I’ve put you on. Waddle put me on because he did verses for me and put me on his songs, that’s what it means,” the rapper averred.

Medikal then shifted focus to his own body of work and investments, pointing to the scale of his recent projects as evidence of how far he has pushed his career independently. One of the key examples he cited was his concert at the Accra Sports Stadium, which he says he funded without label backing.

He revealed that he spent about GH¢3 million on the event, which ended up being a sold-out show and attracted fans from across Ghana and beyond its borders.

“I’ve done so much for the industry and in the industry. After putting so much work, bringing out so many songs, dropping an album, doing a show single-handedly, independent artiste at the Accra Sports Stadium, putting about GH¢3 million in that concert and it was a sold-out concert, people coming from different parts of the country. Some people came from Nigeria, Togo and other countries just to come and witness my show,” he disclosed.

With that record behind him, he argues that his push for Album of the Year recognition is based on output and impact rather than competition. He stressed that his achievements have been built without label support, which he believes makes his run even more significant.

“That’s why I’m loud about winning the AOTY this year like that. it’s not like I’m fighting with someone. The facts and the works are there. I’m not under any label but I’m handling all these things,” he stressed.

Medikal added that he believes his efforts are visible enough that audiences will ultimately reflect that recognition when it counts.

“I know Ghanaians will be happy if they give the award to me because they know the efforts I put in my work,” he further stated.

Charlotte Adu Poku Opens Up On Divorce Stigma, Says Society’s Judgment Hurts More Than Separation

0

Marriage counsellor Charlotte Adu Poku has opened up about the emotional toll she faced following her highly publicised divorce from Apostle Solomon Oduro, shedding light on the societal pressures many divorced women endure.

Speaking during an appearance on Talklife TV on April 21, 2026, Charlotte shared that while divorce itself is challenging, the harsh judgment and stigma from society often make the experience even more painful.

Drawing from her personal journey, she explained that many women struggle not because of the end of their marriages, but because of how they are perceived afterward.

“Society makes it look as if, without a man in a woman’s life, she is nothing. When a woman divorces, it is the stigma that breaks her down—not even the divorce itself,” she said.

Charlotte recounted a particularly troubling moment when a pastor publicly criticised her under a social media post, questioning her decision and suggesting she should feel ashamed. According to her, such reactions reflect a broader mindset that unfairly targets women who choose to leave their marriages.

Despite the backlash, she emphasised that she holds no shame about her decision, insisting that walking away was necessary for her well-being and survival.

“I am not ashamed. If the reason is because I am divorced, then I bless God for my life because other women will look at me and survive,” she stated.

She further noted that some of the most intense criticism she received came from within the Christian community, particularly from certain religious leaders.

Charlotte maintained that her experience has strengthened her resolve to empower other women facing similar challenges. She encouraged them to prioritise their safety and mental health over societal expectations.

Evangelist Patricia Asieduaa Asiamah, widely known as Agradaa, has extended support to inmates at the Nsawam Female Prison as she marked 40 days since her release from the facility.

In a video sighted online, the evangelist visited the prison alongside her husband, Angel Asiamah, and members of her church, known as “Prayer Towers.”

During the visit, Agradaa presented an envelope containing a cash donation to officials of the female wing of the prison.

Explaining the motivation behind her gesture, Agradaa said the donation was her way of showing appreciation and support to inmates she once lived among.

She revealed that after making inquiries, she was informed that the female section currently houses 101 inmates. Based on this, she allocated a total of GH₵11,100, ensuring that each inmate would receive GH₵100.

“This is my way of remembering them and letting them know they are not forgotten,” she stated.

A representative of the prison received the donation on behalf of the inmates and expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as thoughtful and compassionate.

The official also commended Agradaa for maintaining a connection with the inmates even after her release.

The Media General presenter and co-host of TV3’s Ladies Circle recently shared a pre-wedding video on her Instagram page on April 22, 2026, seemingly confirming that the couple is set to tie the knot in both traditional and white wedding ceremonies.

In the pre-wedding visuals, the couple is seen sharing affectionate moments, with Regina proudly showing off her engagement ring.

The resurfaced video reveals the emotional moment Dr Chris proposed. Regina, dressed in a blue mini dress, is seen walking into a decorated venue, unaware of what awaited her.

Upon entering, she quickly realised the setup was for her and appeared visibly surprised, pointing out familiar faces in attendance.

Moments later, Dr Chris approached her with a bouquet, went down on one knee, and asked her to marry him. Overcome with emotion, Regina said yes as tears of joy streamed down her face.

In a touching gesture, Dr Chris was seen gently wiping away Regina’s tears, further highlighting the deep bond between the couple.

D Cryme Defends “Twi Pop,” Urges Support For Local Creativity

0

Dr Cryme has expressed concern about the persistent tendency in Ghana’s music space to sideline its own ideas. He argues that his “Twi Pop” sound would have enjoyed wider acceptance if it had foreign roots.

The rapper, speaking during an interview on Angel FM in Kumasi, questioned why originality from within is often met with hesitation, while similar concepts from outside the country are quickly embraced. He described the pattern as frustrating and deeply rooted in audience behaviour.

“If a foreigner had created Twi Pop, we would have jumped on it,” he said.

He believes the genre’s struggle for acceptance is partly tied to its unfamiliarity. Twi Pop, he explained, does not neatly fit into the widely recognised Hiplife framework, which has made it harder for listeners to connect with it at first listen.

Beyond sound, Dr Cryme emphasised the importance of definition and identity in music. He argued that many genres only gain traction after they are properly named and shaped, noting that structure often gives direction to what already exists.

He referenced Reggie Rockstone’s role in shaping Hiplife, crediting him with giving the genre a clear identity that later helped it gain both local respect and international visibility.

“We cannot say Ghana music should be one style. Other countries have many genres that we even copy from,” he said.

Even with the slow pace of acceptance at home, the rapper is not backing down on his belief in the genre’s potential. He maintains that time could shift perceptions and is calling for more deliberate support for creatives who take risks.

“We would never know. Twi Pop might make waves in the years to come.

“Anyone who tries to be innovative should be supported. If we support outsiders more than our own, then we are not being fair,” he stated.

Dr Cryme described Twi Pop as a conscious blend of influences, designed to bridge cultures through sound. “The ‘Pop’ represents the foreign style, and the ‘Twi’ represents our local dialect,” he explained, adding that his aim is to make music rooted in Ghanaian language resonate on a global stage.

Kisa Gbekle Addresses “Baby Mama” Tag And Her Unplanned Path To Motherhood

Ghanaian actress Kisa Gbekle has talked about her unease with being described as a “baby mama”, saying the label does not align with the future she once pictured for herself.

In an interview on UTV’s Atuu with Nana Romeo, she reflected on her journey into motherhood, explaining that she had always imagined raising children within marriage and still hopes to do so.

“I love children, and I wish to have two or three more when I marry, but not out of wedlock again, because at least I already have one,” she said.

She added that becoming a mother before marriage was never part of her personal plan, noting that life unfolded in ways she did not anticipate.

While she made it clear she does not celebrate having a child outside marriage, she emphasized that motherhood itself is something she values deeply.

“I am not proud to be called a baby mama, because that wasn’t the plan for me before I had a baby. The idea was to be married and have kids, but life offers you things that sometimes you do not want, and you don’t have a choice; you can’t reject them. I am not proud, but I don’t regret being a mother. My baby has moved me from A to Z,” Kisa Gbekle stated.

She also revealed that she is currently single and not actively searching for a relationship, explaining that she often questions what a partner would meaningfully contribute to her life beyond intimacy.

Ghanaian Businesswoman Reveals How She Bought A G-Wagon By Selling Meat Pies

Gifty Brown, the entrepreneur behind Cooker’s Delight, is pulling back the curtain on how her business bankrolls her flashy lifestyle.

Speaking in an interview with ZionFelix, she addressed the question many have been asking about her wealth. She explained that the income from her pastry business is what paid for her luxury car, stating plainly that her G-Wagon came from selling meat pies.

She traced her journey from modest beginnings to a booming operation. In the early days, she would sell just four to five pies a day. Now, she moves around 500 pieces daily, even without factoring in bulk or special orders.

Her customer base has expanded significantly, with banks and corporate offices placing regular orders. She noted that her restaurant sees steady traffic, often filled to capacity, and even on Sundays customers line up to be served.

The meat pies, which sell between GH₵15 and GH₵20, are only part of a broader menu that includes full meals and other offerings. Still, she was clear about what funded her luxury purchase, emphasizing that despite the variety of items sold, the G-Wagon was paid for strictly with proceeds from meat pie sales.

Abu Trica Finally Gets Bail

0

After months of courtroom setbacks, Frederick Kumi, known publicly as Abu Trica, has been granted bail by the High Court in a case centred on efforts to extradite him to the United States.

The court reportedly fixed the bail at GH₵30 million, with a requirement for two justified sureties to secure his release.

His lawyer, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, disclosed the development on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, through a Facebook post, noting that his client had finally been admitted to bail after a lengthy period behind bars.

The ruling shifts the tone of proceedings that had, until now, seen multiple bail applications rejected while the defence challenged the legal grounds of the extradition request.

Abu Trica, identified as a businessman and social media figure, was picked up on December 11, 2025, in a joint operation involving Ghanaian security agencies and law enforcement from the United States.

Prosecutors claim he was part of a cross-border cybercrime ring said to have orchestrated romance scams targeting elderly individuals in the US. According to investigators, the group used false identities to cultivate relationships online before allegedly swindling victims of more than $8 million.

Earlier court filings show he is facing charges including conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering conspiracy, offences that could attract prison terms of up to 20 years if established in a US court.

Authorities also allege that the network deployed artificial intelligence tools to create realistic online personas, which were then used to gain the trust of victims before soliciting funds under different pretexts.

Following his arrest, he was arraigned before the Gbese District Court in Accra, where proceedings began after US authorities formally requested his extradition to stand trial.

Two other individuals initially cited in the case, Lord Eshun and Bernard Aidoo, were later cleared after prosecutors said there was no evidence linking them to the allegations.

That development became central to the defence’s case, with lawyers arguing that removing the alleged co-conspirators weakened the basis of the charges against Abu Trica.

Acting on that argument, his legal team filed a series of applications, including judicial review and certiorari at the High Court, seeking to nullify the District Court process and halt the extradition.

Despite those moves, he remained in custody until the court’s latest decision to grant bail.
