Bulldog Responds To Shatta Wale’s Apology

0

Ghanaian artiste manager, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bulldog, has broken his silence following Shatta Wale’s public apology over a long-standing defamation dispute.

Wale issued the apology days ago, addressing claims he made in 2022 that implicated his former manager in a murder case, claims that sparked a legal battle between the two.

In November 2022, Shatta Wale alleged that Bulldog was involved in the unsolved 2014 murder of Fennec Okyere, the former manager of rapper Kwaw Kese. In response, Bullgod filed a defamation lawsuit seeking GH¢1 million in damages.

In April 2025, Wale released an open letter apologizing and officially retracting his statements.

Discussing the situation during an appearance on UTV’s United Showbiz, Bulldog spoke candidly about the emotional burden the accusation placed on his family, especially as the case remains unresolved.

“This is something that I have gone through a lot over. Right now, it is a cold case. Nobody has been arrested over it. It’s unresolved. So, for you to come and say that, it’s sad. My family went through a lot, especially my wife and kids. It wasn’t easy. So, I had to take him on to prove that what he said was false,” he said.

Bulldog explained that while his primary aim in suing was to restore his good name, he later agreed to resolve the matter outside court after several interventions from concerned parties. By June 2023, both parties had reached a settlement: Shatta Wale would formally apologize and cover GH¢100,000 in legal expenses.

“My intention was not to punish anybody; I just wanted to clear my name. So, when everyone was pleading with me to forgive him and drop the matter, I talked with my wife, and she left the final decision to me.

“So, I agreed to drop the case, and we went to court to remove the case. That was in 2023. I had initially sued him for GH¢1 million, but we agreed for him to render an apology and pay my legal fees. We told the court that, and it was granted provided that all ends were met,” he shared.

However, Bulldog revealed that the agreed terms weren’t fully honored by Shatta Wale — not until legal pressure was applied again.

“Typical of him, he didn’t fulfil his end of the bargain. We left it at that. It was when my new lawyer went through my cases that he decided to follow up on the judgement.

“So, my lawyers went back to court to enforce the judgement. Then he saw that it wouldn’t go well for him. He got in touch with my lawyers to have a sit-down. I was like, there’s nothing to talk about; he knows what to do. So, the apology came. And that’s okay for me,” he said.

Despite receiving the apology, Bulldog pointed out that the financial aspect of the agreement, payment of legal fees, remains unresolved.

“All that is left is that he settles my lawyers. The legal fees are about GH¢100,000,” he added.

Emphasizing once again that revenge was never his motive, Bullgod reiterated that his only goal was to protect his integrity and clear his name.

He concluded with hope that the remaining matters would be resolved soon, so both sides could put the episode behind them and move on.
