Stonebwoy Sparks Online Buzz After Throwing Money at Fans in Ejisu Despite Past Comments

0

A video of Ghanaian dancehall star, Stonebwoy, throwing money at fans on the streets of Ejisu has given birth to a hot conversation piece on the internet.

The celebrated musician was in Kumasi to perform at a show in Ejisu and, as part of his promotional tour, he hit the streets to engage locals and encourage ticket sales.

In a trending video, Stonebwoy enthusiastically tossed money into a crowd of excited fans.

The crowd quickly became chaotic as people scrambled and fought to collect the flying cash.

Stonebwoy’s previous public stance on the act makes the incident particularly surprising.

The “Bawasaba” hitmaker has, in the past, criticized celebrities who throw money at fans, describing the gesture as “senseless” and “disrespectful.”

According to Stonebwoy, such actions often lead to injuries as fans rush and sometimes clash while trying to grab the money.

Social media users have been quick to point out the apparent contradiction, with some expressing disappointment while others praised the artiste for giving back to his supporters in a time of economic hardship.

JMJ Breaks Silence On Kaakie’s Exit From Xtra Large Music

0

Ghanaian music producer JMJ has finally addressed the long-standing rumors surrounding the departure of his former artiste, Kaakie, from his Xtra Large Music record label.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, JMJ offered insight into the real reasons behind their split, dispelling speculation and setting the record straight.

He indicated that the decision was less about controversy and more about Kaakie’s mindset toward music.

“Kaakie loved music, but she wasn’t passionate about it,” JMJ said, noting that while her talent was undeniable, her heart wasn’t fully in the game for the long haul.

He recalled a moment that underscored the lack of animosity between them: “I once heard Abeiku Santana ask Kaakie on radio if he had ‘chopped’ her money or done anything bad to her but she said no.”

JMJ explained that Kaakie’s demanding schedule contributed significantly to the situation. At the time, she was juggling her university education with an emerging music career—two worlds that are notoriously difficult to balance.

“Kaakie didn’t have time for music but she was soo talented that, just 10 minutes in the studio would blow your mind,” he revealed. “So she had little time, and don’t forget, she was also in school. She was in Uni at the time, and nursing is not an easy course. So she was balancing the two, which I understood.”

Despite her obvious gift, JMJ emphasized that Kaakie never viewed music as her long-term path.

“But the truth of the matter is that Kaakie loved music, but she didn’t see music as a long-term career that she was going to pursue,” he added.

Ackah Blay Laments Decline in Music Morality As He Urges Young Artistes to Embrace Meaningful Lyrics

0

Veteran highlife legend, Ackah Blay, has voiced his disappointment over the growing trend of explicit content in songs produced by the younger generation of Ghanaian musicians.

Speaking passionately on the issue, the celebrated music icon noted that the Ghanaian music industry, which was once a medium for delivering powerful, purposeful messages, has increasingly leaned toward promoting sexual immorality and explicit content without boundaries.

“Music is more than just entertainment,” he said. “It has the power to influence emotions, shape culture, and impact behavior. That’s why it must be handled responsibly.”

Ackah Blay reflected on the golden days of Ghanaian music, when themes of love and intimacy were communicated subtly and artistically, rather than in the raw and unfiltered style seen today.

“We addressed intimacy too, but in an artistic and coded way. Now it’s too raw, too direct, and it sends the wrong message,” he lamented.

He acknowledged that foreign artists also explore sexual themes, but pointed out that their approach is often more sophisticated, and their use of language doesn’t easily translate into Ghanaian dialects without losing subtlety.

“Foreigners also sing about sex in their songs in admirable ways that can’t be replicated in Ghanaian local languages. It’s too heavy,” he explained.

Ashanti Regional Minister Unveils Plan to Integrate Kumawood stars into SHS Programs

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has announced a new initiative to incorporate Kumawood actors into Senior High School (SHS) entertainment activities across the region.

According to the Minister, this move is part of a broader strategy to infuse elements of health, fashion, and creative arts into school programs, aiming to inspire and nurture students through local culture and homegrown talent.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Amoakohene said the collaboration will allow popular Kumawood actors and other creatives to participate in school entertainment sessions, stimulating student engagement and reinforcing pride in Ghanaian identity.

“As we introduce students to their own culture through personalities they admire, we’re not only entertaining them—we’re also shaping their values and confidence in local heritage,” he said.

In addition, the Minister revealed ongoing discussions between the fashion industry and Kumawood to produce custom-made costumes for film productions. He believes this partnership will boost local businesses, create employment opportunities, and encourage youth creativity.

“The idea is to promote Ghanaian pride among young people. When we teach them to value and love local content early, they’ll grow up with respect for their identity and contribute positively to nation-building,” Dr. Amoakohene emphasized.
