Nobody Should Compare Me To LilWin – Actor Warns

1
Bediideh

It is a tradition in Ghana for fans to make comparisons among characters who handle same roles in the movie industry.

Actor Agya Koo was said to be out-competed in the industry when Kwaku Manu was discovered. Later on, the same fans in question tagged Kwaku Manu as not as funny after Kwadwo Nkansah LilWin came in with a different sense of humour to take over making him the reigning man of the moment in Kumawood industry.

By popular request, Kumawood producers have re-branded LilWin’s character in movies recently. According to some of them, they record massive sales when he is made to play the role of an ‘old man’ until a discovery Bediideh from nowhere came to the scene to give competition.

This has given birth to another debate as to who plays the role better in Ghana at the moment. On Ash FM’s E-Zone last week, the fast rising actor, Bediideh was questioned on his take on the ongoing comparison in Ghana and he was quick to warn the public to desist from the act.

“This is one thing Ghanaians must stop. In this industry, the only way you can stay relevant for long is to respect your seniors. I respect every pacesetter in this industry and I am not in any competition. Besides, the farthest place I have traveled is Bibiani and the only water I have crossed is Lake Bosomtwe. I have not gone overseas before. I am just planning on my first trip abroad this year.”

He was thankful for the support Ghanaians have shown him so far since he came to the scene.

I Can’t Betray Kumawood Because Of Zylofon Deal – Benedicta Gafah

5
Benedicta Gafah

The old but popular saying that “good living breeds forgetfulness” has been the wonder of many movie industry enthusiasts if the ever gorgeous actress and movie goddess Benedicta Gafah will be carried away by the comfort of her current state and betray her roots as a Kumawood actress.

This has turned debate on many showbiz platforms after the screen goddess became the first Kumawood actress to land for herself a juicy deal with Zylofon Media.

Pundits believe the actress’ milky and enviable offer from the company puts her on a new pedestal and there was no way she would consider shooting Kumawood movies henceforth. Getting her to speak to this issue on the Aroundtown show on Kesben TV last weekend, the actress pleaded not guilty of any such intentions.

“oh no please. How? Never on earth. How can I betray Kumawood,? Kumasi made me. I am willing to shoot for Kumawood on any day. Afia is my name and the Garden City is my home ” she said.

When pushed further to disclose the content of the Zylofon media deal, she resisted but was honest to admit that it is a better deal and she is thankful to God for such an offer.

“I Love Ebony’s Raunchy Dressing, Give Her A Break”

6

A movie producer, Alhaji Banda, has said the current showbiz industry is not about wearing of ‘fuugu’ but dressing to attract the people.

He made this statement on Adom Entertainment Hall last Saturday with Mike’2’.

His statement came about when the show was discussing Ebony’s kind of dressing and the endorsement from her father, Nana Poku Kwarteng.

Bandex, who is also an entertainment critic and the first Vice Chairman for GHAMRO, said he sees nothing wrong with the songstress’ kind of dressing since showbiz is not about wearing a long dress or ‘fugu’ but to look very attractive to the people.

“Showbiz is not about wearing fugu, if u don’t know I am telling you, if you have a nice body make it attractive”, he said.

When asked if he would allow her daughter to expose herself, he replied he did not have a daughter doing a dancehall music, saying Ebony is doing something that goes with her kind of music she does.

Bandex concluded that there are some celebrities who show their naked pictures which Ebony is not one of them and would always support her.

Real Or Photoshop? Movie Producer Attacks Samira Bawumia Over A Pic Believed To Be Her With Kumkum Bagya Actor

1
Michael Kwaku Ola

Many Ghanaians especially filmmakers have spoken strongly against Adom TV’s Indian telenovela Kumkum Bagya which has been showing for months now.

Many have blamed it as one of the major reasons why the local movie industry is dying hence their plea to the government to stop TV stations from airing such products. When moviemakers are busily fighting against the influx of these foreign movies on our local TV channels, a picture, which has surfaced online, shows a person believed to be Samira Bawumia, wife of Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia in a pose with one of the casts of Kumkum Bagya.

This picture has caused the wrath of movie producer Ola Kwaku Michael who cannot fathom why Mrs Bawumia would take time off her busy schedule to take a photo with a cast of a movie Ghanaians are fighting against. In a Facebook post, the former FIPAG PRO sarcastically applauded the Second Lady for her action.

“Have your say. But stop fighting kumkum bagya. Its a lost battle! Well done 2nd lady. You are a great inspiration to the Ghana film industry.” he wrote.

Comments from some Ghanaians who have seen the picture say the lady in the picture is not Samira Bawumia and others also believe it is a Photoshop.

Actress Naana Hayford Escapes Death As Killers Spare Her Life

5
Naana Hayford

Ghana and its entire movie industry need to sing a Thanksgiving song for the life of veteran actress and ace television/radio presenter Naana Hayford.

Sofo Maame as many call her has kept it on the low in the film industry for some years now and has moved into corporate advertisements and television currently and was doing so comfortably well until she was attacked last week.

Domphe Jedadiah, son of Naana Hayford narrating the story to Zionfelix.net’s David Portfolio Germain disclosed that he believes the assailants were stalking and tracking every step of the actress as she drove back home after a tiring day.

“I had just met her up to help with the luggage after she drove home. I barely got to the room when I heard mummy screaming from downstairs. I rushed back only to realise she nearly got stabbed by some unidentified attackers as they made away with her bag containing tablets, phones and money” Domphe Jedadiah said .

When asked if Nana Hayford sustained any form of injury, he was thankful his mummy escaped the attack and according to him, she is gradually recovering from the shock.

#COMEDYFIESTA Show Gave an ‘Encore’ of Uncontrollable Laughter – Photos

1
Foster Romanus at Comedy Fiesta

Foster Romanus and his team at Romanus Empire are really bent on turning Accra upside down with laughter.

This was eminent in their just ended monthly show for July. This month’s #ComedyFiesta picked up its pace in the laughter race as Foster Romanus and his comrades kept exchanging batons of excellent performance to great performance. Speaking which, it was certainly comprehendible that rapper Kofi Kinaata came for this show as well. Hence, needless to say, Accra and Ghana for that matter can’t wait for 26th August 2017 to have another dose of laughter to cure their stress syndrome.

Lots of programmes were in town that day which seemed to be a threat to the show’s thrive, but, this didn’t deter the Romanus Empire folks to dilute the competency in their production process. After Open Mic acts had ended by 7:45, the Production Manager, Francis ‘Oxygyn’ Nutakor, warmly welcomed patrons giving key information about the programme and paying homage to Power Houses for the event (Romanus Empire & SilverBird Cinemas) and media supporters. This ended with the headline act stepping onto the stage with a musical number. After his opening monologue, it was obvious he was going to be our MC for the night.

Certainly, a comedian as he is, he could not resist leaving the stage without cracking up audiences, giving them a sip of the “Laughter koko” they are about to gulp in. The first act for the night was welcomed.

The young comedian proved that he is a force to be reckoned with. Getting his seat at the table of men, he did not take it for granted. Comedian Warris entered with edgy jokes about his life in Bubiashie that got everyone attentive and ready for more. Being quite known through his open mic sessions, he wasn’t complacent but rather brought in his A-Game. He got audience roaring with laughter when he transcended into the day-to-day activities encountered in our public transportation vehicle, Tro-Tro. I still am not cured of laughter from the story of his testimony of a passenger and the conductor’s (mate) plight.

Next to climb onto the stage was MJ the Comedian. This young chap is the ‘Oh Nii’ amongst the young comedians, given his aggressive nature in his presentation. His performance was partly a Shata Wale spoof which really got audiences going wild. It was as though Shata Wale was a character in a film and he was laying the titular character. He mimicked him to a ‘T’ amidst delivering on humour. He also had part of his show threading the lines of toilet humour. Speaking of which, it was obvious audience had a good time with his brief presentation.

The comedy flow took a brief break as poetry took charge.

Jewell King proved why he is the reigning king as the ehalaksa slam champion. He began it on a lighter note with a story where ‘he was the main character, being in a position to abort a baby he and his girlfriend had through unprotected intercourse’ – this aggravated into the hazards involved in such acts and graduated into advice which included the sin abortion carry.

He fatherly thrilled audience to two more pieces that touched on social issues we are faced with which were all constituents of good Christian values; Love, Empathy, Chastity, Respect, Self-respect and Salvation. He hypnotized audiences with his confident flow and his bizarre dramatic vocal modulations, and, he frequently got snaps within flow indicating his wordplays were tight.

Haven had Faiba wow us Last month and another poet equally blow us away, surely it states that #ComedyFiesta takes every talent act brought on the show very seriously.

The seniors in GH Comedy took turns in getting audiences up with laughter. The Queen of Gh Comedy was welcomed onto the stage and she made all aware of her smartness at her craft. She took almost half of her allotted time to freestyle on interjectory remarks from audiences, and, this even got unanimous laughter and even applauds. This is one signature she seemed to be trending with haven had a good run of this kind on her radio shows she co-hosts. Her jokes she flowed with was equally good also. Hence, she was bid a very good farewell off the stage with a sounding round of applaud.

Lekzy de Comic is the prince of Gh Comedy and anyone who refutes has their own issues to deal with. This was ascertained by all present when he stunned audiences with joke after joke. Even his intro made all aware that he was really in for action. Beginning with religious jokes, he moved unto relationship jokes, speech jokes, and, when he dived into the toilet humour audience were on the floor boiling with raucous laughter.

Given how magnificent he was, it was no surprise that he was interrupted by a two minute-thirty eight second applauds commending his greatness. These are some of the reviews that turn artistes into legends and should Lekzy de Comic, the “tallest comedian” go on to be consistent with such flow, he is sure on his way to legendary status.

Foster Romanus did his signature random freestyle comedy at every expense he found opportune to him as and when he stepped onto the stage after every acts. This even worked more for some who even named him as their favourite comedian for the night.

The Open Mic session was taken charge by Ooh Nii, Sportoo and Lyrical. Their acts were well received and hopes are high to see them as main acts one day.

#COMEDYFIESTA comes off next on the 26th August 2017, same venue – Silver Bird Cinema, West Hills Mall at 7 pm. This month serial show is powered by Romanus Empire & Silver Bird Cinemas.

Child Actor Rahim Banda Goes On Acting Break

5
Rahim Banda & Dad, Bandex

Father of young actor Rahim Banda, Ahmed Banda popularly known as Bandex has refuted claims that his son has quit acting. According to the film producer, his son is off screen temporarily due to schooling.

He revealed this Pamela Boateng of Spyderlee Entertainment TV Friday afternoon.

‘It’s normal…you can’t be seeing him every day or all the time. It’s because of schooling; he’s in SHS now, and at that level, students are usually camped and I wouldn’t want my child to be moving in and out of school because of acting. I think the best thing I can offer my son is quality education and at the appropriate time you’ll see him again. We have some new movies we will be releasing very soon and he’s also been featured in about two or three series yet to be released. So as I said, it’s just a matter of time…as at now, when he vacates, it’s all about studying,’ he said.

When asked how his son (Rahim Banda) manages his fame, Bandex responded, ‘normally, we don’t put the fame in his head even when we are in the house. We treat him normal; we make him understand he’s a normal human being like any other person. He understood this principle before entering Senior High School. It’s about how you bring them up. If you make them feel they are special, they will take it everywhere…if you make them feel they are not extra-ordinary than others, they will be mindful of how they behave.’

Rahim Banda is currently a first-year student at the Ghana National College in Cape Coast. He is one of the few child actors in the Ghanaian movie industry. He has starred in numerous movies including Masters of the game, Millions, Burning Desire and many more.

D-Black Replies Critics Who Say He’s A Wack Rapper – Watch Video

5

Black Avenue Muzik boss, D-Black has reacted to assertion that he is a wack rapper.

Desmond Blackmore speaking to Zionfelix on his Celebrity Ride show disclosed that most Ghanaians believe he is arrogant and a wack rapper. He denied both assertions and added that most people do not understand his rap lines hence their conclusion that he is not good. To him, he has no problem with critics who call him a wack rapper because he sees it as their opinion.

D-Black added that such comment “is part of the job” because he cannot please everybody in the country.

“Even Jay Z, Beyoncé and Michael Jackson  get criticised so who are you to not get criticised. I take all of them in good faith. As an entertainer you should be able to better yourself because you cannot be perfect.” he opined.

When asked if any of his colleagues has said it in his face that he is a wack rapper, D-Black mentioned Wanlov De Kubolor but quickly added that he does not take him seriously because the controversial musician has not made any good impact in the Ghanaian music industry.

Miss Ghana 2017 Set To Launch Officially On August 2

1

Exclusive Events Ghana Ltd, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture and the Ghana60YearsOn Planning Committee, have announced the date for the official launch for this year’s edition.

The 60th anniversary of the pageant, dubbed, ‘MissGhana60YearsOn’ –is slated for Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra.

This year marks 60 years since Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah initiated the pageant in 1957 – where Monica Amekoafia from then Trans Volta Togoland (Volta Region) won the pageant to become the first ever Miss Ghana.

Under the Miss Ghana Foundation, the Miss Ghana pageant has over the years carved an impressive niche as that pageant that generates awareness to various socio-economic problems, collaborates with government institutions and corporate firms in sending relief to various deserving communities across the country.

It has actively been involved in providing meaningful and lasting solutions to most of the social interventions embarked on. One of the major projects undertaken by the Miss Ghana Foundation, among many others is the Don Bosco Street Child Project; where the Foundation aided in acquiring a 10-acre land and established a hostel where thousands of street children are given social and technical training. The land also hosts the only functioning Child Protection Centre in Ghana.

In line with the core objectives of the Foundation, the Miss Ghana Organization has always been choosing personalities who best fit the agenda.

In order to win the bragging rights to be called ‘Miss Ghana’, one must be primed, have leadership and strategic skills, possess the passion to help others and must be ready at all times to confidently represent the nation with pride.

Miss Ghana 60YearsOn is not all about the glitz, ‘glam’ and the many privileges that come with the crown. It comes with an ambassadorial role that involves lots of work – in joining other enterprising ladies to bring change to communities.

The role of the Queen is also to serve as a role model who aids in generating support for the under-privileged in societies to get access to quality education, health and good standard of living.

As an Ambassador, the Queen must be in a position to serve as a source of inspiration, a beacon of hope and a voice for girls and young women across the country.

It is imperative to note that the main focus of the Miss Ghana brand has and will always be the various social intervention projects the foundation embarks on.

As the organization marks its 60th anniversary, the focus is to have the ‘Miss Ghana60YearOn’ titleholder; her runners-up and regional queens dedicate a minimum of one year of service full of commitment, diligence, loyalty and passion – in line with extending social intervention programmes across the country.
