Mediocre Actors Love Controversies – Kafui Danku

1
Kafui Danku

Actress and movie producer Kafui Danku is very peeved over a comment a radio presenter passed when she was called on the phone for an interview.

The CEO of ABC Production in a vlog disclosed that the presenter whose name was not mentioned attributed the dying movie industry to the rampant controversies surrounding Ghanaian actors; something she thinks should not have been mentioned on air. The mother of one made it clear that she was not happy about the remarks the renowned radio presenter made on his platform. To her, journalists should use their platforms to sell the positive side of the industry instead of painting filmmakers black to potential investors.

The ‘Happy Death Day’ actress opined that Ghanaian actors have no controversies surrounding their career so she cannot understand after much thought why a media man she expects to speak well of the industry would make such a derogatory statement.

She added that mediocre actors find interest in publicity stunts and they are not the ones she is referring to but top artists.

I Prayed To God To Take My Life – Wayoosi

1

Top Ghanaian actor Wayoosi has disclosed what was running through his mind when he was on his back a year ago at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi when he had a kidney problem.

Speaking on the latest episode of Celebrity Ride With Zionfelix, the Kumawood star revealed that he asked God to take his life because “I wasn’t sure I’ll survive”. According to him, he had heard that few people survive during his situation so he wanted to die to save his family from spending a lot of money on him.

“I was not sure I’ll survive because I had heard that it affects only the rich. I had also heard that a lot of people die as a result of kidney problem so all my prayers was not to endure the suffering and my family not to waste money on me. I was always asking God to call me for everything to end but He knew what He was doing.” he told Zionfelix, host of the show.

Wayoosi believes his sickness was a well-calculated plan by God to stop him from his promiscuous lifestyle. Mr. Osei added that he never heard any of the many death rumours, which went viral when he was on his sickbed last year at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Ghanaian Celebrities Borrow Clothes And Accessories To Slay – Prince David Osei Reveals

51

Staryboy Prince David Osei backs Yvonne Nelson’s comment against actors who dress to kill at events but are not doing anything to save the dying movie industry.

In a comment on Zionfelix.com’s post on instagram, the actor who is currently in the United States of America questioned her colleagues the essence in taking and using outfits and accessories belonging to someone else with the intention of returning them just to slay on red carpet when they lack movie roles. Mr. Osei who made it clear that he sees nothing wrong with glitz and glamour opined, “that can only be relevant when you have made a name and have great influence”

Prince David Osei believes the new kid on the block, slaying is the reason why “everyone is desperate borrowing clothes to make a mark on the Red carpet”. The “Devilish Angel” actor added that “emergence of this so called trend and many more is the reason people are going nude and doing whatever they can to become popular”

Read David Osei’s comment on Zionfelix.com’s instagram post below:

“What are you slaying for if I may ask?Except you are a photo model??What is your name and achievement in the industry to flaunt borrowed garments and accessories??When you don’t even have a movie role??When there are no quality productions to submit for awards??There’s absolutely nothing wrong with glitz, glamour, flamboyance bla bla we all do it..but that can only be relevant when you have made a name and have great influence..That is what happens in Hollywood and even Nigeria..You celebrate success not mediocre. This is the reason why everyone desperate borrowing clothes to make a mark on the Red carpet, there’s a mad Euphoria to just slay and be popular on social media with no work put to it. Emergence of this so called trend and many more is the reason people are going nude and doing whatever they can to become popular..Let our works and movies slay 😁 that is if am correct in this context..The industry needs love, respect and a revival because after all the slaying on the Red carpet and your name is not even among the first 10-15 Ghanaian Actors/Actresses Really????”

Ghana fashion review reacts to Yvonne Nelson’s slaying comment: Slayers will always slay! @yvonnenelsongh is totally wrong and she misunderstood the Era we are now! The Era of showbiz glamour sparkling across the Oscar’s, Grammy, golden globes, befta, cannes film festival, Venice film festival, Berlin film festival, AMVCA, etc. It’s absolutely wrong to suggest that slaying or red carpet glamour killing movie industry in Ghana? I think it has rather added the missing link into the Showbiz industry and it should be maintain. Look at what Zylofon Media alone is doing for showbiz industry in Ghana! Slaying is the only element to generate public interest in showbiz industry, and that’s why Nigerian stars including omotola,Rita Dominic, genevieve, mo abudu etc do take their red carpet appearances seriously they are also considered bigger showbiz icons globally and because they understood the need to take themselves seriously before the public can take them serious! Long and short is that Ghana Movie is not declining thanks to companies like Zylofon and co it’s making some progress, we are hopeful many others will come on board soon to compliment it! @yvonnenelsongh has done her best over the years for movie industry in Ghana, but it’s obvious now a days because of social media influence and also times has change so public expectations in showbiz are beyond only movie casting.

Paapa Yankson One-Week Celebration Scheduled For 4th August

1

Officials of the musicians union of Ghana (MUSIGA) today paid a customary visit to the Family of highlife legend, late Paapa Yankson in Accra.

This necessary visit followed after the legend passed away last week Friday. It was to pour out condolences to the family and to help arrange for the legend’s funeral rites which is yet to be revealed.

However, a date for the 1-week celebration was released by the family during this visit which is 4th August 2017 at the Keep fit club in Dansoman, Accra.

Officials who were present at this meeting includes Alhaji Sidiku Buari (former MUSIGA president), Bessa Simon (1st vice Chairman, GHAMRO), Ahuma Ocansey Bosco (Dir. Of Communication and special projects, MUSIGA), Rev Fiifi Khan (Administrator, MUSIGA), Ras Caleb Adjetey (Greater Accra Chairman MUSIGA), Alex Odoi (Welfare Chairman, MUSIGA), Rev. Ghansah and Mr. Henry Paa Kwasi Smith (Scratch studios).

Paapa Yankson was given a legendary award at the recent VGMAs for his tremendous work towards the development of the music industry.

Furthermore, Paapa Yankson’s son, Sisle Yankson last week stated that his father should be given a state burial for his contribution to the nation’s development but some union leaders think he rather needs a “State Recognition or Appreciation”.

Speaking to the chief officer of the Ghana Music Right Organization (GHAMRO), Abraham Adjetey indicated in an interview with Lisa Baakope that Paapa Yankson has contributed immensely to the music industry and needs a state recognition not a State burial as everyone is indicating.

“I am saddened as to why people are calling for a state burial for the legend, why do we limit state burial to only politicians. If someone contributes his quota to the national development then they need a state burial. So the state want us to die before they honour us” he asked.

“I think Paapa Yankson deserves a state recognition then the continuation can be a state burial”. He concluded.

According Captain Abraham people must not die before they are honoured by the state for contributing their quota.

Paapa Yankson can be remembered with indigenous highlife songs like ‘Yaaba”, “Show your love”,”Abaayi”,”Tenamenkyen”, “wo yeri anaa wo maame” just to mention few.

When The “King” Gets Lazy: “Sarkodie Needs A Healthy Competition”

1

Being an ardent follower of entertainment news and happenings, i happen to tune it to most of the entertainment related shows every now and then to catch up with the latest juice or hear critics and reviews from industry players.

Well that’s technically a part of the job since I have to be updated on who said what and where and why. With that said a question or should I say a discussion that has been hovering around for a while was finally voiced out on TV.

George Mensah Britton, a blogger turned media mogul and TV Pundit on Rythmz Live with Berla Mundi which airs on GHOne TV revealed how he thinks Micheal Owusu Addo popularly known as Sarkodie, has been on a slow pace as compared to his work force.

This came up during the “beef” situation between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, Host Berla Mundi and himself were discussing.

According to him, the Ghanaian circular music world has really come a long way with it’s various and some infamous style/genre of music, dating back to the 90s when hiplife was introduced into the market to the now contemporary hip-life; Gh Rap/ Hip Hop, Reggae and Dancehall, Afro Beat and the rest.

Consequently, various fraternities springing from these categories have over the past couple of  years had a number of controversies between themselves in defense of their artists and in some cases even amongst artists themselves.

One of the most popular controversies commonly known as ‘’beef’’ has been between Self acclaimed king of dancehall Shatta Wale and two time BET award nominee and one time winner, Stonebwoy.

The two dancehall artists have had one of the most disputed career experience as well as a series of serious yet healthy controversies.

This as related by Mr Britton is healthy in the sense that, these controversies have proven to be more of a competition that has made these aforementioned names strive harder to achieve greater and better just not for themselves but their fraternity at large.

He further made this statement on the matter.

“Sarkodie doesn’t have enough competition in his territory. There are a lot of rap artistes in Ghana, Yes! but none is giving Sarkodie a run for his money. As we speak now Stonebwoy is in Trinidad & Tobago whiles his rival Shatta Wale is in Jamaica recording and cooling off at Montego Bay Beach.

Stonebwoy doesn’t want to back down neither will Shatta Wale because there’s a keen competition between the artistes and their fans. On the other hand, Sarkodie is having a jolly ride and controlling the rap game as he wishes. As we say, competition breeds success. Yes Sark is successful but little competition will get him up his game a little more and throw more light on the Rap genre in our dear industry; I think it’s about time all these ‘beefing‘ and hatred be turned in serious motivation where acts from the Ghanaian Rap fraternity work extra harder to match up to or beat the ‘King’ at his game

He is gradually becoming somewhat a lazy King and isn’t enjoying the airplay his works used to enjoy in the past.”

Now this issued raised by Mr. Britton is a matter a lot of people have already brought up over time. Sarkodie since 2007 has been a household name after his first single ‘’Baby’’ ft Mugeez became an instant hit.

Not only is he the self acclaimed king of rap but has proven nationwide without doubt that he sure owes himself the title.

However for some time now, several fans and music enthusiasts in general have expressed their disappointment in the artist’s performance now.

He’s some what become complacent because there isn’t any healthy competition between him and the other rappers now.

I personally hope there would be a healthy competition between sarkodie and a rapper soon, one that would give sarkodie a run for his money because undoubtedly he is a really good Rapper but what becomes of a good rapper when he’s got no competition?

5

Class FM’s Presenter Natalia Andoh has launched a campaign against teenage pregnancy dubbed W.R.EC.K.L.E.S.S, the campaign educates young girls to desist from engaging in early sex which has the potential to mar their future and make them early mothers.

According to her, many young girls seek advice from her after they have gotten pregnant, a situation she finds worrying. Instead she’d prefer teenagers to learn about early sex and its implications so they are not lured by men who have not the best intentions. On his part, the founder of the 2131 groups Jay Foley who was a speaker at the event advised young females to desist from putting on provocative attires. He noted that mostly, it is the dressing that entices men to chase after young females who are not ready to have sex.

Other speakers for the launch included Joseph Roberts Mensah who works with the United Nations, Jeremie Van-Garshon from Live FM and Dick Darkey from Kirusa Ghana.

W.R.EC.K.L.E.S.S has officially been launched and in September, the series begins where Junior high scholars will be given the talk by professionals so they are clear on what their options are.
