No Gospel Musician Should Charge Less Than Gh110,000 For Don Moen Ghana @ 60 Concert – Cwesi Oten

Cwesi Oteng

Many gospel musicians are not happy about the fact that American gospel singer Don Mean will be headlining the Ghana @ 60 gospel concert expected to happen in weeks time.

Cwesi Oteng has asked his fellow gospel musicians not to charge less than $25,000 (Gh110,125) for Ghana @ 60 concert.

Aside Mary Agyemang who spoke strongly against the plan in an interview with Zionfelix.net, ‘God Dey Bless Me’ singer Cwesi Oteng has also talked about the move.

The gospel artiste in a tweet has asked his fellow gospel musicians not to charge less than $25,000 for Ghana @ 60 gospel concert.

To him, $25,000 is not too much that organisers of the event would have to give an excuse.

He tweeted that “No Ghanaian gospel artiste, should charge less than $25,000 to climb the Don Moen Stage. $25,000 is not too high an amount for blacks.”

Don Moen Ghana @ 60 Performance Is An Insult To Ghanaian Gospel Musicians – Mary Agyemnag Fumes

4
Mary Agyemang

Female gospel musician Mary Agyemang who stormed several NPP campaign platforms to perform prior to the 2016 general election is irritated about Don Moen headlining Ghana @ 60 gospel concert.

The ‘Change Over’ hitmaker in an interview with Zionfelix.net said flying the American gospel musician to Ghana for the event is an insult to local gospel musicians. The gospel artiste stated that there are countless gospel musicians in Ghana who are equally fit to headline the Ghana @ 60 gospel concert so why spend a lot on 66 year old.

She said even though the event is organised by a private entity as Jefferson Sackey, Chairman for media and publicity for Committee for Ghana @ 60 celebration has made Ghanaians believe, it is still a national event, which needs no foreign musician. Mary Agyemang further questioned if any country will bill a foreign musician to headline a national concert.

Giving testimony about Don Moen’s songs, Mary disclosed, “I love his songs. I even used one of his songs for prayers and my prayer needs were answered but that does not mean he should be chosen ovr gospel musicians in this country.”

“It is different issue if the event is for private person but if its a national event, then it is an insult to gospel musicians in the country” Mary told Zionfelix.net

She went ahead to blame the media for not supporting gospel music in Ghana.

“Sorry for saying this but I think I’ve to blame the media. Some of our presenters prefer to play songs from foreigners for free instead of promoting us. How will our leaders know that there are equally good gospel musicians in Ghana when they don’t play our songs?

Some of us are even new artistes so we can’t complain that much but what about Ohemaa Mercy, Diana Asamoah, Elder Mireku, Daughters of Glrious Jesus and the other old folks.

Diana Asamoah sacrificed to campaign for NPP.

It is very sad and an insult to gospel musicians in the country. This tells that the work we are doing is not good enough.

If you indirectly insults us this way, then it is a shame and disgrace to our leaders and we the musicians for bringing Don Mean.

Some Ghanaians did not vote for this kind of change.” the angry musician concluded.

Insults In Kumawood Movies Normal – Actress Christiana Awuni

1
Christiana Awuni on Radio Univers

Movies made in the local dialect, Twi popularly called Kumawood movies have faced backlash from the general public for its constant use of insults and abusive words.

Critics who say the offensive words should be reduced believe children love Kumawood movies so the constant use of such language will not help them but actress Christiana Awuni thinks otherwise.

The Kumawood star in an interview with Zionfelix on Val’s Day’s edition of Radio Univers’ Brunch2Lunch entertainment show disclosed that they enact what happens in the Ghanaian society so she finds it worrying to hear people complain about it.

To her, directors do not ask them to use abusive words in movies without a reason so individuals who have a problem with the act should understand their work.

Christiana Awuni opined that critics would not have had a problem if they had insulted in English because it would not have sounded harsh as it does in Twi. Citing an example, the actress said nobody fights without insulting so they cannot paint a picture of such a scene without the actors insulting each other.

Mrs. Okyeame has told Zionfelix on Radio Univers’ Val’s Day edition of Brunch2Lunch entertainment show that there is no bad blood between them. She said her husband had been in a relationship with other ladies before they met so it will not make sense for her to be at loggerheads with them.

“Okyeame was on McBrown’s ‘Aben Show’ over the weekend and I made that happen.

NPP Celebrities Mad Over Don Moen Ghana @ 60 Performance

6
Leo Mensah

Discussion has started on Don Moen coming to Ghana to perform at the gospel concert organised as part of this year’s Ghana @ 60 celebration.

Zionfelix.net gathers that most celebrities who endorsed and campaigned for the ruling party ahead of the 2016 general election are not happy about the news. To them, Ghana has several gospel musicians who can substitute the American so they see no reason in flying Don Moen to Ghana for the concert.

Actor and TV presenter, Leo Mensah popularly called Ntotoahene who actively campaigned for NPP before last year’s election in a facebook post expressed disgust about the 66-year-old coming to Ghana for the event. To him, this decision to allow the American singer-songwriter  perform at the show will make 2020 election difficult for NPP to win.

Mr. Mensah wrote “Dear PREZ NANA ADDO,

PLEASE DON’T ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN.
America will never pick any African Gospel Artiste to headline their programme even if that person just came from heaven.
Why #DONMEON? Sonnie Badu, Cwesi Oteng and Pastor Brian Jones Amoateng can’t lead Ghana in worship? God needs a white man before he listens to Ghana?
Who is doing this, who is trying to make the next ELECTION difficult? If John Mahama went for CHRIS BROWN and we condemned it, choosing DON MEON over Ernest Opoku,Diana Asamoah and co is still bad today.
There is a reason African Act receive their Awards backstage at BET.
You can’t rekindle patriotism in the Citizens when your taste for Foreign goods is still on the ascendancy…
#SAYNOTODONMEONHEADLINE

Yours Truly
NTOATOAHENE”

Artiste manager and boss of Media Excel Production, Kwasi Ernest, a member of Creative Arts 4 Change is also angry about the plan of bringing Don Moen to Ghana for the event. Speaking on Hitz FM Wednesday morning, the furious manager spoke against the plan.

Jefferson Sackey, Chairman for media and publicity for Committee for Ghana @ 60 celebration has said in an interview that the coming of Don Moen is a private initiative and the cost is being handled by the private firm.

Family Is Against My Comedy Career – Ajeezay

1

Ghanaian comedian, Ajeezay real name Nathaniel Mensah for the past years has not had his family supporting his comedy career.

The ‘nonfa’ king speaking to MzGee on Hitz FM’s Showbiz This Week said his family sees him as a young boy who has messed up his life because of his current job. He added that they do not want to see him in the showbiz arena but doing something ‘better’ for himself.

“Family says I have messed up. Family sees me as black sheep. They feel I didn’t make it in life so I don’t talk about those things. It is always about my comedy that I try to speak about.” he said.

Ajeezay disclosed that his father’s response when he informed him about his decision to be a comedian was that entertainment is for persons who dropped out of school. Convincing the old boy, the comedian said he mentioned Okyeame Kwame and Flowking Stone as entertainers who have degrees so he is in the right business.

Despite family’s disapproval of his work, Ajeezay told MzGee that nothing will stop him from being a comedian.

“Nana Addo Will Be Worst Than Mahama, Why Is Don Moen Headlining Ghana @ 60 Gospel Concert?”

5
Ricky Anokye

Former chief executive officer (CEO) of Capital TV, Ricky Anokye has spoken strongly against the plan of American singer-songwriter, pastor, and producer of Christian worship music, Don Moen headlining Ghana @ 60 gospel concert.

Mr. Anokye early Wednesday morning wrote an open letter to the President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo asking him to be very careful with the people he has surrounded himself with because that made Ghanaians vote against the former president, John Mahama. He stated without mincing words that “I have utmost believe and trust in you but the rate at which you are going I foresee you being worse than the man we just voted out”.

The television consultant questioned why the government would spend gargantuan cash to bill Don Moen to headline Ghana’s Independence Day gospel concert when the country can boast of renowned musicians like Ohemaa Mercy, Joe Mettle and others.

Zionfelix.net saw Ricky Anokye at Nana Addo’s residence in 2016 when he invited creative persons to discuss about the industry prior to the 2016 general election.

Read Ricky Anokye’s post on Facebook below:

Dear HE NAADA I am really not happy to address you through this medium but it is my only choice as usual….. Former President Mahama was not labelled incompetent for nothing but for the kind of people he surrounded himself with and how the wasted every opportunity given them to make Ghana work again but rather seek their self interest. I have utmost believe and trust in you but the rate at which you are going I foresee your being worse than the man we just voted out…… Why must we have foreigners headline our Ghana at 60 events…. Creative arts for change supported you with their financial resources and risked their lives everyday in the fight for change not to import performers, gospel or whatever but to make their lives better…. We all including person’s close to JDM that I know condemned the use of Osofia and the ovation man even though they are our neighbors… Why should we applaud you for appointing people who are doing same….. I can coolly say that Ghana is the mecca of gospel giants and the hotel cost for your imported artist alone can pay for the artistes in Ghana. Nana Kwame Ampadu… Amakye Dede.. Kwadwo Antwi…. et all and the no tribes… Joe Mettle.. Ohemaa Mercy.. And the long list goes on can give us a show or shows we can live with for another 60years if we put half the seriousness we will put in the production of this obroni show. Are we still under servitude or the incompetence is now permeating through our governance and accessories? How do we expect our farmers and rural folks to enjoy and feel the show or the imported artists will perform in our local in our local dialects? Sorry I forgot music is a universal language. It is too early yet for disgruntlement even from your own fold and agitation from the citizens and mockery from the spectators….. You could have invested this import money in Ghanaian artistes of all types at all district and regional levels and still made Ghanaians happy and content… Let us put value in our people, empower them and facilitate exporting our acts so that they can bring home money. Music and culture and arts are exportable and could generate more from within and from export.
Please advise your men to do de3 3hia ansa na w’ay3 de3 efata!!!
Thank you.
