‘I didn’t know ‘Happy Day’ was political; I’m still paying the price’ – Kuami Eugene

Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene has revealed that he is still dealing with the consequences of his feature on Sarkodie’s 2020 track, ‘Happy Day’.

Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, the singer disclosed that the song, which was widely interpreted as an endorsement of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), continues to cause him problems four years after its release.

Eugene explained that when he was approached to feature on the track, he was unaware of its political undertones.

According to him, Sarkodie’s team initially pitched a different theme for the song.

After recording the chorus, however, the song’s direction changed, with many listeners perceiving it as a political endorsement of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP, a stance Kuami Eugene insists he never intended to support.

“I am still suffering from it, and I had no idea what conversation sparked the fact that it should be Kuami Eugene, but after I did the chorus out of the first verse I heard from my senior man (Sarkodie), it ended up that way,” he said.

“Myself and the team are doing a feasibility study to appreciate which part of the city will best suit the attempt. This will allow those in this enclave to make a feel of the show and also deepen my ambassadorial role.

“The fact that I was not successful in my first attempt shouldn’t be a barrier to my quest of becoming a Guinness World record holder.”

Laws in Ghana only apply to the poor – Kwabena Kwabena

0

Ghanaian highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena has voiced his concerns regarding the handling of the recent East Legon accident involving Bishop Salifu Amoako’s son.

Speaking in an interview on Adom TV, the “Adult Music” hitmaker expressed disappointment in the police and lawmakers, claiming that laws in Ghana seem to be applied unequally depending on one’s wealth and status.

Kwabena Kwabena remarked that it is troubling to see juveniles driving recklessly without any consequences, especially when videos of such behavior are posted online.

Referring to the tragic accident, he highlighted that Bishop Amoako’s son, who is reportedly responsible for the deaths of two young girls, should not have been driving in the first place.

“The young man’s social media has been filled with videos of him driving carelessly, and yet the police have failed to act,” the singer said.

He further criticized law enforcement, saying that they tend to ignore the reckless actions of wealthy individuals while strictly enforcing the law on the poor and vulnerable.

Kwabena Kwabena expressed his frustration, pointing out that the police, who are responsible for monitoring social media activities, did nothing despite the evidence.

“The laws in Ghana only seem to work on the weak and the poor. We need to ensure that juveniles are not driving, and law enforcement must do their job properly,” he said.

The musician also called for the public to learn from this tragic situation rather than mock the family involved. “It can happen to anyone,” he added, urging for more responsible behavior and better enforcement of laws to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Ghana’s financial crisis should be blamed on external shocks – Ofori Amponsah

0

Award winning Highlife artiste, Ofori Amponsah, has acknowledged that Ghana is going through a financial crisis.

According to the Cinderella hitmaker during an interview with Berla Mundi on TV3, the financial challenges being faced by the country are not a result of mismanagement but rather because of external shocks.

“What we are facing is that we are facing external shocks, I did economics in school and so I understand the system.

What I feel for this nation, especially when I see people on ships going to Italy, I cry in my heart because there are so much opportunities in this country that people don’t see.

When it comes to farming there is a lot but people don’t love what will bring them money, everyone wants to cut corners for money and when everybody is cutting corners for money what economy do we have?

That is why I’m saying that we have to do an introspection as a country because one party cannot do it so we have to come together to fix this country,” – he said.

“Every country experiences this phase of financial challenges. Ghana is facing its own financial challenges at this time. We don’t have to give up because no one particular person can fix it until we come together and fix it.

Today the dollar is Ghc16 maybe tomorrow Mahama may come and the dollar will be Ghc 25 another will come and maybe in the next ten years if we are living you’ll interview me and say I told you.
