Gospel musician, Brother Sammy, has criticised fellow gospel artist Ohemaa Mercy’s claim that she heard the voice of God to get a divorce.
Speaking on United Showbiz on UTV on Saturday, September 14, 2024, he expressed his disapproval of Ohemaa Mercy’s decision to divorce her husband.
According to Brother Sammy, Ohemaa Mercy’s claim that she heard the voice of God instructing her to get a divorce is questionable. He alleged that the real reason behind the divorce was financial.
“Ohemaa got the divorce because she has gotten money and did not want the ex-husband to enjoy,” he alleged.
Brother Sammy also raised concerns about the potential influence of Ohemaa Mercy’s actions on younger ministers. He questioned what she would say to those who look up to her when they come to her with similar claims.
“What will she say to the younger ministers who look up to her, when they come to tell her that they have also heard the voice of God to get a divorce? If we go on that tangent, everybody will then say they have heard clearly from God that they should get a divorce,” he remarked.
In an earlier interview, Ohemaa Mercy revealed that a divine revelation guided her decision to divorce. She claimed that she heard the voice of the Lord instructing her to end her marriage.
According to Ohemaa Mercy, this spiritual experience was profound and left her with no doubt about the path she needed to take. She emphasized that her actions were not motivated by personal gain but by a deep sense of obedience to God’s will.
This revelation has been a cornerstone of her explanation for the divorce, aiming to reassure her followers that her decision was spiritually grounded.
As the discussion continues, it remains to be seen how Ohemaa Mercy will respond to these criticisms and what impact this controversy will have on her career and ministry.
Ghanaian rapper Maradona Adjei Yeboah, popularly known as Guru, has reason to smile again after his recent disqualification from the University of Ghana’s Students’ Representative Council (SRC) presidential election was overturned.
The SRC had originally barred Guru from contesting, alleging he did not meet the necessary qualifications.
Even though the Judicial Board had upheld the disqualification, the Vice Dean has now directed that the names of Guru, Emmanuel Amponsah, and their running mates be included on the list of presidential candidates.
“You are further directed to carry out the balloting for all the SRC candidates vetted by the vetting committee on Monday, September 16, 2024, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon at the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs (ODSA),” the directive stated.
“You are to immediately communicate this to all the candidates to assemble at the premises of the ODSA for the balloting,” the September 15 letter continued.
The letter also instructed the school’s Electoral Commission to provide the list of candidates and their positions to the University of Ghana’s Computer Services (UGCS) after balloting.
“This is to enable UGCS to make the necessary preparations for voting, which is to take place on a date to be agreed with candidates, either before or after the balloting. However, this date should not be later than Wednesday, September 18, 2024,” the letter added.
Last month, Guru, whose real name is Maradona Adjei Yeboah, filed a petition against the University of Ghana’s SRC Electoral Commission after his disqualification from the presidential race.
Guru was disqualified by the SRC’s Electoral Commission on the grounds that he did not meet the residency requirement outlined in the university’s SRC constitution. According to the constitution, candidates for executive positions must reside in one of the university’s halls.

The founder of Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has explained why he chose Ghanaian musician and lawyer, Elijah Kwame Owusu Danso as his running mate.
He gave an insightful explanation about why he chose a young person as his running mate during a Facebook live with ZionFelix.
The veteran Ghanaian politician stated that he is a transitional leader and believes in the young people.
He emphasised the need to groom young people for leadership positions.
The former Trade and Industry Minister said the youth would be forced to take up certain positions in the future if they are not given opportunities.
He mentioned happenings in Senegal, Nigeria, Kenya and other African countries as examples.
Mr Kyerematen stressed creating a path that would make way for new young leaders to emerge.

Ghanaian actor Mr Beautiful has revealed that his former colleague, Agya Koo, harboured a deep-seated dislike for him, seeing him as a potential threat to his dominance in the Kumawood film industry.
According to Mr Beautiful, Agya Koo, who rose to fame after the death of legendary actor Santo, became a powerful figure in Kumawood and sought to maintain his position as the sole star.
In an interview, Mr Beautiful shared that although he admired Agya Koo’s contributions to local films, the latter was not welcoming of other rising stars, especially those who could compete with his influence.
“When Agya Koo became popular, he wanted to be the only one in the limelight,” Mr Beautiful explained, adding that Agya Koo would sometimes hold up productions if he was travelling abroad, and if a producer ignored his demands, they could be blacklisted.
“Agya Koo didn’t want to be cast alongside me as a lead character because he knew I would ride on his wings, and that was a smart move because he didn’t want me to become big like himself and reduce his influence and monopoly at the time,” Mr Beautiful remarked. He added that producers confirmed Agya Koo’s refusal to work with him due to feeling threatened.
Mr Beautiful further recounted how producers had to adopt strategies to manage Agya Koo’s behaviour, especially when Akrobeto joined the industry after returning from Belgium. In an attempt to avoid the same treatment from Agya Koo, Miracle Films made Akrobeto wash Agya Koo’s cars, helping the two actors develop a bond.
Mr Beautiful acknowledged Agya Koo’s immense talent but noted that this particular character trait eventually led producers to limit his roles, resulting in fewer collaborations with him over time.
One thing Akwaboah is not ready to do now is to compose a song for political parties.
While some of his colleagues are composing songs for political parties in Ghana ahead of the 2024 elections, the popular musician won’t tow that lane.
He made this known when speaking in an interview with Abeiku Santana on Okay FM.
The ‘Posti Me’ singer in the video sighted by Zionfelix.net clarified that though he won’t compose a song for political parties, he would accept to perform for them when contacted.
