Efiewura series made it look like I couldn’t speak English – Gloria Sarfo

There is a notion out there that actresses and actors from the Kumawood industry don’t know how to speak fluent English hence the reason to feature in local movies.

But the narrative is changing as more educated people join the Kumawood industry.

Actress Gloria Sarfo has shared the challenges she encountered at the start of her acting career after featuring in the popular TV series Efiewura.

She stated that because of her Efiewura role English-speaking producers sidelined her because they thought she couldn’t speak the King’s language.

“Before I used to get worried, I use to talk a lot. Because of the Efiewura tag, people thought I couldn’t even express myself in the English Language so everything was about I am a local actress because of Efiewura.

“I was actually told that because of my active roles in local series, I have a least chance to be given a role as a wealthy man’s daughter in any glamour movie. Like, are we that shallow?

“But thankfully, AMVCA, it was speaking Twi that got me there. Speaking twi is my identity, this is who I am. Thanks to Shirley Frimpong Manso, she knows I do Efiewura but she was like, ‘Gloria, do it your own way, blend the dialogue with the twi language if you are comfortable with it. Do your own thing’. I did that and it worked and with God, it became successful,” she said.

Sarkodie would have been more popular if he had declined Bob Marley’s ‘Stir It Up’ remake request – Blakk Rasta

Controversial Ghanaian media personality Blakk Rasta ignited a heated debate following his recent remarks about Sarkodie’s remake of Bob Marley’s ‘Stir It Up’ song.

Sarkodie’s version, released on January 20, 2023, garnered praise from fans, despite the rapper’s admission of feeling unworthy to share vocals with the legendary Reggae icon.

However, Blakk Rasta believes Sarkodie should have declined the opportunity, citing the song’s personal significance to Bob Marley and his wife, Rita Marley. Rasta argues that Sarkodie’s refusal could have led to even greater publicity and popularity.

“Imagine Sarkodie had said no to this collaboration and it had come out that Sarkodie was supposed to be in a Bob Marley Song and Sarkodie said no he is not worthy of even lacing the shoes of this man like John The Baptist said about Jesus, his name would have been all over the place” he told Andy Dosty on the Day Break Hitz show.

Akrobeto finally replies Ghanaians urging him to go in for plastic surgery for his nose

Kumawood actor Akrobeto has hit back at critics urging him to undergo nose plastic surgery, emphasizing that his big nose is not a concern for him.

Speaking on TV, he expressed bewilderment at why his prominent nose would bother those who don’t have similar features.

According to him, he has the advantages of breathing in ‘more air’ than the average person due to his nose size, adding that, it should not be a bother for anyone.

“I breathe easily… I cannot get sick. I don’t even need oxygen at the hospital. I can really breathe lots of air. My nose doesn’t choke. I would rather eat at the chop bar (local restaurant) with the money.

“No matter what, you will die in life… it’s okay to look good, but you can die anytime. No one can escape death. You will definitely grow, you cannot ageing. What didn’t Michael Jackson do? But where is he now? Gone.” He said.
