Great Ampong declares his massive support for Kennedy Agyapong

Ghanaian gospel musician Great Ampong has publicly endorsed Kennedy Ohene Agyapong to become the flagbearer candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to the Ghanaian Gospel musician, his support for Kennedy Agyapong is till thy kingdom because irrespective of the outcome of the NPP primaries, he will still continue to support the Asin Central MP.

Telling why he admires Kennedy Agyapong, he said the politician’s honesty and boldness is what moved him to declare his support for him. He adds that he believes Hon Kennedy Agyapong can instil discipline in the country.

I am for Ken [Kennedy Agyapong] forever. I will support him till thy kingdom come. Whether he wins or not, I will continue to support him because he is someone who speaks the truth. God works with the truth so how will the country prosper if we refuse to speak the truth?” Great Ampong said in a video shared on his social media platform.

The NPP primaries are scheduled to happen on the 4th of November 2023 with Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, MP for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong, former MP for Mampong Francis Addai-Nimoh, and former agric minister, Dr Owusu Akoto Afriyie vying for the slot to become NPP’s flagbearer.

In the video, Great Ampong also seized the moment to criticise the court system in Ghana, saying that the judiciary lacks openness and justice in its decisions.

People are in their homes crying because there is no justice in the country. The moment you speak the truth they tag you as arrogant and say all sorts of things about you,” he said.

“So if you are a poor person and you die in an accident, and your family wants to seek justice at the court, they should forget it because it won’t happen. We can go for all the loans to help fix the economy but if we don’t get honest leaders, the nation will continue to suffer,” Great Ampong added.

Ghana is facing severe economic hardships – Adina laments

Adina is adding her voice to the cries of Ghanaians that things are hard in the country.

According to the Ghanaian singer, she believes everyone is going through hard times in Ghana including celebrities.

It’s tough. It’s tough, but we’re just hoping and praying for opportunities that will help make life easier. When I’m going through things, I just try to focus on the craft, focus on what it is that I’m doing that’s giving me the revenue that I want. I just focus, get my passion, and try not to lose that light that’s inside, because life can be really tough.” she said.

Adina during a conversation with GhanaWeb’s Elsie Lamar disclosed that she has ventured into the fashion business and that has been quite challenging due to inflation and the high cost of production that makes it tough for businesses to operate

I started a business this year. I set up my fashion business, and it’s been ghetto like crazy, and I didn’t realize how difficult it is.

“And this was in a year, too, that things prices were shooting up, and obviously it affects how much things cost or what the total pricing of an outfit is. Therefore, clients are going to say it’s too expensive and you understand them because we are going through it, but lower prices are killing you. It’s crazy.” she said.

Commenting on the recent #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest, the singer said “I feel like everybody has the right to share how they really feel and what they did. I think it was a step in the right direction. They were going through it. They felt like they had the right to exercise their freedom of speech. And I think it was perfect that they did that.

“I’m hoping that we’ll be able to yield some good results because that’s the main reason why they went to go and stand there in the rain and all of that. And I hope that whatever the reasons, everything will be resolved,” she concluded.

Adina’s candid remarks join the calls for a resolution to the economic hardships in Ghana. In September 2023, pressure group Democracy Hub launched #OccupyJulorbiHouse, a social media movement that climaxed with a 3-day protest that saw massive support from a number of celebrities including KiDi, D-Black, Efia Odo and Kelvynboy.
