Daddy Lumba’s funeral set for March, not December – Papa Shee

0

Evangelist Papa Shee has dismissed the widespread reports suggesting that the funeral of Daddy Lumba will be held this Saturday, stating emphatically that the family has approved no official date.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Papa Shee clarified that, to the best of his knowledge and according to the musician’s family, the funeral is expected to take place in March next year—not December as speculated.

“To my knowledge, and according to the family, the funeral will take place in March,” he said.

He further revealed that an attempt by some individuals claiming to be organizers of the funeral to present drinks and invitations at the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday was reportedly rejected.

“Yesterday they went to the Manhyia Palace and they were turned away. How can they proceed with the funeral if their drinks and invitations were rejected?” he questioned.

Papa Shee also disclosed that the committee previously established to oversee Daddy Lumba’s funeral arrangements has long been dissolved. According to him, this makes current claims of planning activities questionable and unauthorized.

“The so-called funeral committee has been dissolved. The planning committee for Daddy Lumba’s funeral was dissolved long ago, so who exactly is claiming to plan the funeral now?” he added.

His statements have stirred fresh debate among fans and industry stakeholders, many of whom are now seeking clarity regarding the official arrangements for the late highlife legend’s final rites.

The Accra High Court has pushed forward its ruling on the latest legal tussle surrounding the funeral rites of music legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, widely known as Daddy Lumba.

Earlier today, Thursday December 11, 2025, the court adjourned the case to Friday, December 12, 2025 at 10 am, which is just a few hours to the already publicised date by Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu.

Manhyia Palace Washes Its Hands Off Daddy Lumba Funeral Disputes

Amid rising confusion over the handling of Daddy Lumba’s funeral arrangements, the Manhyia Palace has formally distanced itself from every dispute tied to the late musician’s funeral.

A disclaimer released through Opemsuo Radio on December 11, 2025, urged the public to ignore attempts to link the Palace to the tensions within the Fosu family. The statement directly referenced ongoing friction involving Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, Ernestina Fosua, and the spouses of the Highlife legend.

The Palace stressed that it is not involved in any stage of the funeral planning.

“Manhyia urges the general public to disregard any reports attempting to associate the Palace with matters concerning the preparations for the burial and funeral rites of Mr. Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba,” the disclaimer read.

Its announcement comes at a time when the late musician’s relatives are locked in a series of highly publicised disputes. Arguments over autopsy results, the timing of the burial, the wives’ roles in widowhood rites, and related arrangements have sparked significant discussion both offline and across social platforms.

Aside from the courtroom battles, some family members also escalated the matter by taking it before the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, especially after Ernestina Fosu invoked Otumfuo’s Ntam Kese.

With these issues still unsettled, many observers remain unsure whether the planned funeral on Saturday, December 13, 2025, will take place as announced or be pushed to a later date.

Papa Shee Breaks Down What Triggered The Clash Between Akosua Serwaa And Odo Broni

0

Tensions within the late Daddy Lumba’s household, once whispered about, were brought into clearer view when evangelist and former hiplife artiste Papa Shee revisited how the rift between Akosua Serwaa and Odo Broni first took shape.

His recollection, shared during a recent interview with ZionFelix, traced the conflict back to the earliest days following the musician’s death.

Papa Shee explained that after Lumba’s passing, Akosua Serwaa travelled from Germany to Ghana but deliberately avoided staying in her late husband’s home. Instead, she sought refuge at business magnate Kennedy Agyapong’s residence, a place she considered neutral, as she hoped to prevent any immediate friction with the second wife, Odo Broni.

What began quietly soon became public. According to Papa Shee, a DL FM staff member triggered an escalation when he directed a subtle jab at Akosua Serwaa while on air. The individual also stated that he recognised only Odo Broni as Daddy Lumba’s lawful spouse. Troubled by the broadcast, Papa Shee contacted Lumba’s manager, Roman Fada, to demand an explanation. Roman apologised, he said, and assured him that the offending video had been taken down from social media.

“I asked why the young man disrespected Akosua Serwaa. Roman apologised and said he had made sure the video was deleted. I warned them not to go down that path and to be extra careful,” Papa Shee recounted.

He further claimed that similar episodes continued during family visits after Lumba’s death. When mourners arrived, the introductions reportedly followed a pattern. Roman, he said, would present Odo Broni as “the wife of Daddy Lumba,” but introduced Akosua Serwaa only as “a German borga,” which, coupled with the DL FM incident, fed a perception that she was being deliberately sidelined.

As the mourning period unfolded, the matter moved from private tension to legal challenge. Following the one-week observance held on August 30, 2025, Akosua Serwaa filed a lawsuit against the family head, Kofi Owusu, and Odo Broni, known privately as Priscilla Ofori. In court, she sought a declaration that she was the musician’s only lawful surviving wife and asked that the second wife be denied recognition.

After extensive hearings, the Kumasi High Court rejected her petition. Justice Dorinda Smith ruled that Akosua Serwaa had not established exclusive legal marital status, while Odo Broni successfully proved her traditional marriage to the musician. The court also found the marriage certificate submitted by Akosua Serwaa insufficient to substantiate her claim of an ordinance marriage in Germany.

In the end, the court instructed that both women, the Germany-based Akosua Serwaa and the Ghana-based Odo Broni, be recognised as spouses of the late Highlife icon and permitted to undertake widowhood rites.

Why Yaw Sarpong Remains Unaware Of Maame Tiwaa’s Death

0

Bishop J.Y. Adu, founder and leader of the New Jerusalem Church, has stated that a painful reality is still being kept from gospel musician Yaw Sarpong, who remains unaware of the death of his close associate, Maame Tiwaa.

In an interview on Top Radio, Bishop Adu explained that concerns about Yaw Sarpong’s fragile health and emotional state have made it difficult for his family and caregivers to tell him the truth. According to him, no one has yet found a safe moment to deliver the news.

“Up until now, we’ve not been able to tell Yaw Sarpong that Tiwaa is dead. We don’t even know how to inform him because we fear his reaction to her death. He has confidence in the woman so much,” he said.

Bishop Adu said the strength of the bond between the two has made the situation more complicated. He noted that Yaw Sarpong depended heavily on Tiwaa, to the extent that her absence has already affected his daily routine.

He recalled an incident that underscored that dependence.

“When they prepared food yesterday and he was served, he said he was waiting for Tiwaa before he would eat. According to him, if he ate without her, she would get angry,” he narrated.

He added that those caring for Yaw Sarpong have taken deliberate steps to keep him away from news and social media reports surrounding Tiwaa’s death. Bishop Adu said an unfiltered encounter with the information could seriously worsen his condition.

“He doesn’t know that the woman is dead and we can’t break the news to him because he’s not too well to know about her demise.

“The media didn’t help us at all for circulating the news so fast. If he was online, he would have seen whatever was going on, which would have been a big problem for us,” he lamented.

Bishop Adu further revealed that Tiwaa’s family had visited Yaw Sarpong at home but were advised not to say anything at the time because he was battling malaria.

“Tiwaa’s family came to Yaw Sarpong’s house but I told them not to inform him, due to the malaria he was battling with,” he shared.

He said breaking the news then would have created additional challenges.

“He wouldn’t eat when we told him and it would bring another problem to us. All this while he has not seen the woman, he thinks she has gone to perform at a show.”

Reflecting on Tiwaa’s role in Yaw Sarpong’s life, Bishop Adu described her as more than a companion, saying she played a practical and consistent role in supporting his welfare.

“She used to perform band so she would get money to prepare food for Yaw Sarpong. She had been of great help to him, at least to what I saw,” Bishop J.Y. Adu averred.

No Amount of Money Can Take Me Back To Secular Music – Morris Babyface Declares

0

Morris Babyface has made it clear that his exit from secular music is permanent, regardless of the financial temptation that may come with a return.

During an interview on Okay FM with Nana Romeo, the music producer said his decision to focus entirely on gospel music was deliberate and deeply personal. He explained that while secular tracks he worked on in the past still dominate playlists, he has no regrets about leaving that chapter behind.

“I don’t have any problem with anyone playing the secular songs I produced. It reminds me of where I started from and where God has placed me in life,” he said.

Morris revealed that requests from secular artistes have not stopped since he changed direction. According to him, several musicians continue to approach him for production, with some attempting to lure him back with money. Each time, he said, his response remains the same.

“A lot of secular musicians come to me to produce their songs but I told them I no longer do that. Artistes who got their hits from the music I produced often come and try to bribe me with money but I declined the offer.

“No amount of money can make me produce secular songs anymore,” he stressed.

He emphasised that his current focus is firmly rooted in gospel projects and said artistes who still wish to work with him would need to adjust to that path. While making it clear that he does not view secular music as wrong, Morris said the choice to walk away from it was one he made without hesitation.

“I decided to produce only gospel songs so if they want to still work with me, they should also divert to gospel. I’m not saying secular music is a sin but it’s a personal decision. No secular song has a better message than gospel songs,” Morris stated.
