The leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has strongly rejected reports circulating on social media and in sections of the media claiming that former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, was shot during an incident at the church’s Kwabenya property on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
In a statement issued shortly after an event at which Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena was reportedly enstooled and recognized as leader, the church leadership described the allegations as false and misleading and urged the public to allow the relevant authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly.

According to the statement, Adwoa Safo allegedly arrived at the church premises during a lawful church event and forcefully drove her vehicle into the entrance gates of the property.
The leadership claimed that her vehicle struck two metallic gates, causing significant damage to the structures and creating what it described as a serious risk to worshippers, invited guests, and other attendees gathered near the entrance.
“The actions described above created a serious risk to life and property,” the statement noted, adding that security personnel on duty intervened solely to protect people at the event and prevent any further escalation.
The church leadership also took issue with reports suggesting that Adwoa Safo had been shot by her brother during the incident.
“We categorically reject these allegations as false and misleading,” the statement read. “To the best of our knowledge and based on information presently available to us, no such shooting occurred.”
The statement further alleged that attempts were being made to create what it described as a false impression that the former legislator had sustained a gunshot injury.
While several media outlets have reported that Adwoa Safo suffered a gunshot wound during the incident and is receiving medical treatment, the Kristo Asafo leadership insists that the facts surrounding the matter have not yet been established and should not be prejudged.
The organization has therefore called on law enforcement agencies to conduct what it described as a thorough, impartial, and professional investigation into all aspects of the incident.
“We urge the public to refrain from drawing conclusions based on unverified social media reports and to allow law enforcement agencies to establish the facts through due process,” the statement added.
The latest development comes amid growing public interest in succession matters within the Kristo Asafo Mission following the death of founder Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.
