Daddy Lumba Feared His Family Line Was Losing Its Men – Great Ampong Reveals

0

Gospel singer Great Ampong has recounted a personal discussion he once had with the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba.

In a recent interview on Neat FM with Ola Michael, Ampong said the conversation centered on Lumba’s growing anxiety about the future of the men in his lineage. According to Ampong, the late singer believed a recurring family pattern was steadily reducing the number of males across generations.

He explained that Lumba traced the issue back to his upbringing. His own mother, he said, had two daughters and one son. When Lumba later started his own family, the same pattern emerged, with his wife giving birth to two girls and one boy.

Ampong said this repetition troubled Lumba deeply, as he feared it could eventually leave the family without any male descendants.

“We were once having a conversation and he told me that there’s no male in the family. The men are finishing. His mother gave birth to two girls and one boy.

“When he started his own family, he realised his wife was following the same trend by giving birth to two girls and one boy,” he said.

The gospel musician indicated that this fear went on to influence a major life decision by the highlife star. Lumba, he said, believed expanding his family with another partner could increase the chances of having more sons.

“From the look of things, it will get to a time where no males will be found in the family so he decided to be with the other woman also so he could get more male children,” he stated.

Apart from family matters, Ampong also reflected on the bond he shared with the late musician, describing a relationship built on trust and closeness. He said Daddy Lumba often took him along on trips around town, walked him through his properties, and even sought his views on future development plans.

“We were so close and he used to take me around town to show me some of his properties. He wanted to do some projects on some of his lands and he asked for my opinion,” he said.

Great Ampong added that their relationship sometimes felt more personal than professional.

“When he’s in a good mood, we used to communicate like father and son. He had a level of trust and love for me, that’s why he made me get close to him,” he said.

Stella Aba Seal Blasts Young Musicians Over Song Use Without Permission

0

Concerned about what she describes as a fading culture of respect, veteran gospel musician Stella Aba Seal has spoken out against the way industry pioneers are treated, accusing some younger artists of using her songs without consent.

Appearing on Onua Showtime, she said the growing trend has been deeply hurtful.

“They don’t ask for permission before using my songs,” she said.

Stella Aba Seal argued that the issue goes beyond music and reflects a wider challenge within Ghanaian society. According to her, honouring trailblazers is not firmly rooted in the culture, and that absence of recognition stretches across several creative industries.

She noted that while athletes often receive public praise and support, veterans in music, film, and boxing are frequently sidelined.

“In Ghana, honouring is not part of our culture. We don’t respect trailblazers and pathfinders. It happens rarely, unlike in sports where international footballers have built houses for communities and offered support,” she stated.

The gospel artiste said speaking up often attracts unfair backlash, with veteran performers sometimes dismissed as seeking attention.

“When you try to correct them for not relating properly to grown adults, they say you just want to trend, even when you are old enough to give birth to them and they met you at the workplace,” she explained.

She stressed that senior musicians laid the foundation upon which today’s industry stands. “We have done a lot of education on telling people to appreciate us after inviting us because we pay for our recordings ourselves.”

Drawing a comparison with Nigeria, Stella Aba Seal praised what she described as a culture of respect for legends there. “In Nigeria, young actors and musicians visit legends with gifts and receive blessings. In Ghana, it’s only Nana Ama McBrown that I have seen replicating that,” she said.

She also criticized how some young artistes handle the use of older songs, explaining that permission is often ignored or sought only after recordings are done. “Sometimes, you only see that they have already done it without your permission,” she revealed.

Beyond the professional impact, she issued a spiritual warning, insisting that actions always carry consequences.

“There are laws governing this universe: spiritual laws, physical laws, and universal laws, and they work. If I don’t say anything, the laws in the air will deal with you. If I say ‘hmmmm’, the laws God has placed in the air will still work,” she cautioned.

She pointed to the principles of sowing and reaping and karma as unavoidable truths. “One of the laws is: what you sow is what you will reap. Karmic laws work. It doesn’t matter how much you pray, speak in tongues, or apply grace, karma will catch up with you. If not today, then tomorrow,” she said.

Stella Aba Seal further urged them to remain conscious of their actions.

“As humans, we must do good.”

Lasmid Reveals Why He Never Prewrites His Songs

0

Lasmid does not arrive in the studio armed with written lyrics or carefully mapped verses. Instead, he lets instinct take control of the moment the beat drops.

The Ghanaian artiste explained in an interview on Hitz FM that his creative process relies on spontaneity rather than preparation. He said he prefers to feel the rhythm first, allowing melodies to surface naturally before shaping words around them.

According to Lasmid, the music begins to form as soon as he hears the instrumental, with melodies leading and lyrics following afterward. This approach, he noted, helps him stay connected to the emotion of the song.

“One thing about me is I don’t write before entering the studio. Whenever I hear the beat, the melody starts flowing. I’m a melodist and the lyrics always come after the melody,” he said.

He added that the experience extends beyond his own creativity, describing his recording sessions as deeply calming for those who witness them. Lasmid believes the organic nature of his process creates an atmosphere people can truly feel.

“My recording session is a therapy to somebody. You will actually feel it. I listen to the beat and that’s when I start creating,” Lasmid disclosed.

Lasmid Reveals One Thing He Has Regretted Doing In The Music Industry

Ghanaian artiste Lasmid has revealed one thing he has regretted doing in the music industry.

During an interview with Bryt TV, the young artiste stated that his deeply respectful nature has worked against him in the music industry. He said the trait he once considered a strength has often left him exposed to unfair treatment.

Lasmid explained that his habit of showing excessive respect has sometimes invited mockery and misuse from people he has dealt with along the way.

“I don’t know if I should say it or not, but being too respectful has made people take advantage of me,” he said.

The singer admitted that this reality has left him with regrets, as he believes his politeness was rarely matched by others. Over time, that imbalance forced him to rethink how he interacts with people professionally and personally.

“If I had it my way, I would not be that respectful. I wish people would reciprocate the same respect. For now, I respect people who respect me as well. At first, I respected people who failed to give me the same energy,” Lasmid posited.

Family Of Late Daddy Lumba Refutes False Funeral Poster, Defends Legitimacy Of Widow’s Marriage Certificate

0

The family of the late highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba, has issued a strong public statement addressing what it describes as widespread misinformation surrounding his funeral arrangements and the status of his widow, Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh.

According to the family, a funeral poster circulating on social media—which lists Mrs. Fosuh alongside another individual as “widow”—was released without her knowledge or approval.

They insist the poster not only misrepresents her status but also features several family names allegedly added “for cosmetic purposes.” The family has urged the public to disregard the poster entirely.

In the statement, the family condemned comments made by entertainment pundit Mr. Kofi Owusu, who suggested on-air that Mrs. Fosuh’s German marriage certificate was an “Ashtown document.”

They described his remarks as “pathetic, uninformed, and hostile,” stressing that the certificate is legally authentic and internationally recognised.

The family further defended their spokesperson, Evangelist Papa Shee, also known as Nana Yaw Akosah.

They clarified that he has been a trusted confidant of the late musician for years and remains fully authorised to speak on behalf of the family. Any claims challenging his mandate, they said, are “false and unfounded.”

While expressing respect for a recent ruling by Her Ladyship Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur regarding aspects of the ongoing family matters, the family noted that they disagree with portions of the judgment.

They indicated plans to seek legal redress to ensure clarity while protecting the dignity of the late artist’s widow and children.

In closing, the family reassured the public—especially Ghanaians living in Germany—of the credibility of German marriage certificates, describing them as “the Mercedes-Benz of marriage certificates.”

They also emphasized their commitment to honouring Daddy Lumba’s memory with transparency, unity, and dignity.
