Daddy Lumba’s sister drags their abusuapanin to Kumasi Central Police over missing Funeral Funds

0

The ongoing family and legal drama surrounding the late highlife icon, Daddy Lumba, has escalated with his elder siste Akosua Brempomaah, reportedly filing a complaint against their uncle, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, at the Kumasi Central Police Station.

The action, reported by YouTuber and blogger Grace TV on the TikTok page ‘Koforidua Flowers,’ stems from the alleged disappearance and misuse of funds from the musician’s funeral account.

According to the report from Kumasi, Madam Ernestina Fosuh, accompanied by hiplife legend turned Evangelist Papa Shee and other family members, reported the matter to authorities on November 19, 2025.

The complaint centers on the discovery of a signed cheque for a significant withdrawal from the funeral account. Ms. Fosuh reportedly suspects the funds were intended to be used for setting up a billboard advertising the upcoming funeral.

Ernestina Fosuh views this as a misuse of funds, especially since the official funeral date has not yet been finalised due to the lingering court case over Daddy Lumba’s marital status and estate.

The funeral account, initially set up in the lead-up to Daddy Lumba’s one-week observance, is controlled by members of the now-dissolved funeral committee, which was headed by Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu.

This is not the first controversy surrounding the account’s finances.

Earlier, the Abusuapanin (family head) had publicly admitted to withdrawing GH¢30,000 from the account to cover his hotel bills incurred while in Accra, a disbursement that had already sparked significant family controversy.

The police report filed by Ernestina Fosuh highlights the deepening rifts within the family as they grapple with the practical and legal challenges following the highlife legend’s passing.

The investigation is expected to focus on the authorisation and purpose of the recent significant withdrawal.

Daddy Lumba did not marry Odo Broni – Elder sister tells court

0

The legal battle over the estate and marital status of Daddy Lumba, took a dramatic turn at the Kumasi High after his sister testified that there was no marriage between the musician and his long-time partner, Priscilla Ofori, also known as Odo Broni.

Ernestina Fosuh, also known as Akosua Brempomaah, appeared under oath before Her Ladyship Dorinda Smith-Arthur to give evidence in a suit filed by Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, who claims to be Daddy Lumba’s legal wife.

Akosua Serwaa Fosuh is petitioning the court for a declaration that she is the only surviving spouse of the deceased musician and, therefore, the sole person entitled to perform widowhood rites. She is also seeking an order to restrain Priscilla Ofori from referring to herself as the late musician’s wife.

Testifying during cross-examination, Ernestina Fosuh confirmed she was aware of the relationship between her late brother and Odo Broni, a union that produced six children, including one child named after the witness.

However, she was emphatic that the relationship never culminated in a marriage.

Conversely, Ms. Fosuh insisted that her late brother married the plaintiff, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, in both customary and civil ceremonies. She stated that she personally witnessed the customary marriage at Bomso in 1991 and the civil marriage in Germany in 2004.
The witness provided insights into the late star’s personal affairs, revealing that Daddy Lumba had relocated to Ghana to oversee a housing project and receive treatment for a back injury sustained in a lorry accident.

When questioned by defence counsel Dominic Kwadwo Osei about why the plaintiff, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, did not relocate to Ghana to join her husband, Ernestina Fosuh explained that her brother had advised his wife against frequent travel due to the high cost of air tickets.

She further introduced the issue of a €50,000 loan her brother allegedly contracted from a financial institution in Germany, claiming this was a factor in the decision to limit his wife’s trips.

Defence lawyer Mr. Osei challenged the existence of the loan, leading to a heated exchange where the witness was unable to provide immediate written proof.

However, Ernestina Fosuh insisted the evidence, written in Dutch, was available on her phone, asserting she was only relaying what her brother had confided in her.

The defence pressed on, drawing attention to a previous reply by the Plaintiff on October 29, 2025, which cited the loan amount as €100,000, not €50,000, suggesting the witness’s account was misleading. Ms. Fosuh stood her ground, maintaining that she had told the court what she knew.

Kofi Nti has revealed that the late Daddy Lumba once privately recounted an old incident in which he suspected he had been poisoned, a claim the highlife musician says he heard directly from the legend himself.

Speaking on Okay FM with Nana Romeo, Kofi Nti explained that the discussion resurfaced during a conversation he had with Samini while the two were in the UK for a performance. Samini had made a remark urging men to be cautious about women, referencing rumours that linked the alleged poisoning to Daddy Lumba’s former wife, Akosua Serwaa.

Kofi Nti said he immediately responded by telling Samini that the rumour was incorrect. Samini then asked him to clarify the matter since he was close to Daddy Lumba, prompting Kofi Nti to recount what the musician had personally shared with him.

According to Kofi Nti, Daddy Lumba told him that the poisoning episode occurred many years earlier during a gathering with friends. Lumba had explained that although he once mentioned in a song that he had been poisoned, many listeners wrongly assumed the reference was about his ‘wife’, Akosua Serwaa. He clarified that the incident had nothing to do with her.

Kofi Nti said Lumba described attending a party with some friends, stepping away for a moment and returning to find that his drink had been tampered with. Lumba told him that these friends were the ones responsible for poisoning him. He went on to say that when he returned home that night, he began vomiting blood.

The musician added that Lumba used the conversation to caution him never to leave his drink unattended in public. Lumba even called his ‘wife’, Odo Broni, during their discussion to reaffirm that the poisoning rumour involving his first wife was completely unfounded.

If you think Shatta Wale has changed, then he has swerved you! The popular Ghanaian dancehall artiste has stated he hasn’t changed.

Following criticisms after a recent incident at the 2025 Tidal Rave that pulled him and his team into heavy debate, the Shatta Movement boss addressed the uproar after a viral video showed his personal assistant, Abonko, blocking MC Kojo Manuel from approaching him on stage.

The moment quickly spread across social media, sparking complaints that Abonko had acted inappropriately and that Shatta Wale was enabling behaviour that disrupted the event. As reactions intensified, the musician decided to confront the commentary directly.

During a TikTok livestream, Shatta Wale warned those he believes misrepresent him or attempt to drag his reputation online. He insisted that he will defend his image and made it clear that he considers some of the criticism targeted and unfair.

Wale stressed that he will not allow deliberate attacks to go unchecked. He told viewers that he is prepared to respond forcefully if he feels his name is being mishandled.

Shatta Wale also denied claims that his behaviour has softened, noting that he remains unchanged in personality and approach.
