Global Music Superstar Mr Eazi Unveils ‘Maison Rouge’ EP – An Intimate Homecoming To His Banku Music Roots

0

GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY Award winning musician and creative innovator MR EAZI is excited to unveil his excellent new EP titled MAISON ROUGE, which doubles as a homecoming to his Banku Music roots, as well as a love letter to his day one fans and the early signature sound that first made him a cult favourite.

Named after the Cotonou house where he lived while crafting this new project, designed to evoke nostalgia for his early sound, the Maison Rouge EP restores the intimate and soulful glow of early classics and afropop essentials like ‘Skin Tight’ and ‘Bankulize’, while dialling it forward with inventive contemporary soundscapes and resonant story-first songwriting.

Across warm grooves, palm-wine motifs, intimate vocal textures, and rich melodies, Mr Eazi reconnects with his early listeners and welcomes a new generation into his Banku Music universe.

Leading the Maison Rouge project, ‘Violence’, which was produced by frequent collaborators P.Priime (Wizkid, Rema, Tyla) and E.Kelly (Major Lazer, Joeboy), unfurls on a mellow afrobeats groove, delivering something romantic and quintessentially Eazi, while ‘Make E No Tey’ rides a buoyant body-moving rhythm that brings pure sunshine in the middle of this autumn season.

Elsewhere, ‘Busstop’ channels upbeat Ghanaian hiplife into a kinetic afrofusion earworm built for radio, street parties, dancefloors, and big playlists alike. Lead singles ‘Casanova’, a cheeky and candid ode to choosing commitment produced by TXMO (Adekunle Gold, Oxlade) and Kel-P (Burna Boy, Future), the playful stripped-back and tender offering ‘Corny’, and ‘Love Me Now’ deepen the tapestry of the project, and reveal their own layers in Mr Eazi’s intimate Maison Rouge story.

Mr Eazi ‘Maison Rouge' EP

With over two billion streams under his belt, over fifteen million social media followers, and critical acclaim from the likes of New York Times, Billboard, and Rolling Stone, Mr Eazi frames this new Maison Rouge EP as a full-circle reset for the global star – it is his seminal Banku Music with renewed intention.

The lush EP’s sonic palette blends nostalgic Banku Music instrumentation with modern detail, from its pocketed percussions, and lilting guitar motifs, to its spacious arrangements that leave ample room for feeling. It is intimate, romantic, and resolutely authentic, in the way that only Mr Eazi knows how to do.

For Mr Eazi, Maison Rouge is more than this collection of seven songs, it is a place, a house of memory and melody where the afropop trailblazer is reconnecting with why he started, and inviting listeners to step in, slow down, and stay awhile.

“I Am Not Prepared For My Brother’s Funeral On December 6” – Lumba’s Sister States As Court Throws Out Injunction Against Funeral

0

Madam Ernestina Fosu, the elder sister of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has expressed her unpreparedness for the upcoming funeral scheduled for December 6, 2025, following the Kumasi High Court’s dismissal of an injunction application that sought to halt the event.

Ernestina Fosu, who is widely known to be among those supporting Daddy Lumba’s first wife, Madam Akosua Serwaa, has stated that she is not happy about the decision of the court to throw out the injunction.

Akosua Serwaa’s lawyer reveals why they lost in court

The legal tussle over the funeral arrangements for late Ghanaian highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, took a new turn yesterday after the Kumasi High Court struck out an interlocutory injunction application filed by his wife, Akosua Serwaa.

Despite the dismissal, Lawyer William Kusi, counsel for Akosua Serwaa, expressed contentment with the outcome, describing it as a “levelled score” in an interview following the ruling on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

Akosua Serwaa, who resides in Germany, had sought the injunction to prevent Daddy Lumba’s family from accessing his body and organizing his funeral on the announced date of December 6, 2025.

This injunction was a component of a larger suit aimed at establishing her recognition as the musician’s only surviving legal spouse and ensuring her inclusion in the funeral preparations. Daddy Lumba passed away on July 26, 2025.

In her statement of claims, Serwaa accused the Abusuapanin (family head), Kofi Owusu, of deliberately sidelining her, noting she only became aware of the funeral date through social media.

A major point of contention centers on the status of the musician’s partners. Akosua Serwaa emphatically stated that she remains the only woman legally married to Daddy Lumba under German law.

She moved to dismiss the claims of Priscilla Ofori Atta, also known as Odo Broni, who is known to have had six children with the deceased, of being a spouse.

However, the family, represented by the law firm Baba Jamal & Associates, vehemently rejected Serwaa’s claims. In a letter signed by Fati Ali-Yallah, the family asserted that Serwaa had no authority to dictate how the funeral should be conducted.

The family claimed that Serwaa had traditionally dissolved her marriage with Lumba in 2018 by returning her head drink, and therefore declared Odo Broni as the only legitimate widow eligible to undergo the customary widowhood rites.

While the injunction application failed, the comments from Lawyer Kusi suggest a strategic view of the court’s decision, perhaps indicating that the core suit regarding Serwaa’s recognition as the legal spouse remains their primary focus in the ongoing legal saga.

Family will decide on Daddy Lumba’s widowhood rites – Lawyer reveals

The funeral rites for the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, are set to move forward after the Kumasi High Court dismissed an interlocutory injunction application filed by his wife, Akosua Serwaa.

The court’s ruling, delivered by Presiding Judge Dorinda Smith Arthur, affirmed the family’s authority over the deceased under Ghanaian customary law. The judge concluded that restraining the family would not benefit them or the public.

Following the ruling, the family’s lawyer clarified the immediate next steps, emphasizing that the decision on who will perform the widowhood rites now lies entirely with Daddy Lumba’s family.

“That is a decision that the family will make. But like I said, that is a determination that the court has declined to make a pronouncement on. It is the family, led by Abusuapayin, who will decide as to who will perform the widowhood rights,” the lawyer told newsmen

Akosua Serwaa had sought to halt the final funeral rites until certain unresolved matters were addressed. However, the court’s decision shows the the primacy of the deceased’s family in funeral arrangements according to local tradition.

The statement from the family’s lawyer makes it clear that with the court having declined to intervene in the matter of the rites, the decision-making power has reverted fully to the family structure.

The Abusuapayin (head of the family) is expected to lead the process of determining who will conduct the traditional widowhood rites.

The dismissal paves the way for the family to finalize and announce the schedule for the final funeral rites of the beloved musician, who passed away recently.

The long-running legal drama surrounding the final funeral rites of legendary Ghanaian highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has taken a new turn as the Kumasi High Court on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, dismissed an interlocutory injunction filed by Akosua Serwaa, the first wife.

The application, filed by Madam Akosua Serwaa Fosu, sought to restrain the late singer’s family from going ahead with his final funeral rites until the court determined her claim as the only surviving spouse and rightful widow of the music icon.

Ghanaian rapper D Cryme made an interesting remark in a recent interview. Believing in himself, the ‘Kill Me Shy’ rapper said he can even fill heaven if God gives him the chance.

During an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, the rapper was asked which of Accra’s major venues he believed he could sell out: the Accra Sports Stadium, the Accra International Conference Centre, or The Dome.

Known in private life as Darlington Agyekum, D Cryme did not settle on any of the aforementioned venues. Instead, he mentioned heaven.

“If you don’t believe in yourself, you will set limits. As for me, even if I am given a chance to perform in Heaven, I can fill it up,” the rapper stated.

D Cryme further explained that artistes should never allow venue capacity to define their potential.

“You can think about it that this place has a 10,000 or 100,000 capacity… But if you believe in yourself, you know your worth, and you play your cards right, you can fill up any venue,” he said.

After 8 Years Of Hiatus, Raquel Returns To Music With A New Name

After nearly a decade away from the music scene, Ghanaian singer Raquel is making a triumphant return with a new name, a new sound, and a renewed sense of purpose.

The ‘Sweetio’ singer has reintroduced herself as Elia-Naa, a name she says represents “a clean slate” and the start of a new journey in both her life and career.

In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, she talked about her long break from music, her transformation, and why this comeback feels more authentic than ever.

During her time away, Raquel embraced a completely different life in the United Kingdom.

“For the past eight years, I enjoyed working as a full-time supply teacher in primary schools across the UK and occasionally taught music and also worked as a teaching assistant for children with special needs. I absolutely love it! I love children,” she said.

The singer revealed that her time away also allowed for deep introspection.

“I’ve also spent a lot of time getting to know myself. This might sound strange but a lot of people don’t really know who they are or what they stand for and what they are truly capable of. Taking time to reflect, isolate, restart and reload has refreshed my life in ways I never imagined,” she added.

Her rebirth as Elia-Naa holds special personal and spiritual meaning. The “Naa” derives from her Ga name, Naa Ayorkor, meaning “princess” or “queen,” while “Elia” was inspired by a biblical reference she uncovered with her cousin, Ezekiel. Her middle name, Patience, serves as a reminder to trust divine timing.

“I no longer connected with Raquel,” she explained. “In Spanish, it means ‘female sheep’—and that wasn’t me anymore. I wanted a name that reflects my journey, my faith and the fact that God has always answered my prayers.”

Even while she stepped out of the limelight, Elia-Naa never completely abandoned music. She continued recording and releasing songs on digital platforms.

“They are beautiful pieces. They include Hope with my brother Azaryah. It took me about three years to finally record my verse for this stunning song. There is also Passover Me with my sisters Babette and Matildao and Plenty Name and Sↄlemↄ. I have two songs with my brother from Congo titled Enjoyment and Thy Will ft Aaron,” she said.

Now, Elia-Naa is gearing up to reintroduce herself to fans through a new EP and her second studio album, more than a decade after releasing her debut project, @25, in 2012.

I Never Said I Was Coming To Replace Ebony — Wendy Shay Clears The Air On Rumours

Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay has denied ever saying that she was introduced to replace Ebony Reigns following her tragic death.

She addressed the issue during a discussion on UTV’s ‘United Showbiz’ program. Shay clarified that neither she nor her manager, Bullet, ever made such a claim.

“I never said anywhere that I was coming to replace Ebony. Bullet too never said that,” Wendy stated. “When you lose a loved one and they bring someone to replace her, were you supposed to love the replacement or not?”

Her remarks were on the back of a statement made by entertainment critic Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo, who was also on the show, and admitted that he was among those who initially viewed Wendy Shay’s arrival unfavourably due to the emotional impact of Ebony’s death.

“For those of us who have followed you from 2018 up till now, we know the kind of fire you passed through,” he said. “I was one of the few people who disliked you when you were introduced in the industry. Because of the love we had for Ebony and the kind of introduction that was done, some of us were not feeling it like that. It was more to do with Ebony than you, and the timing felt off for a lot of people.”

Arnold further praised Wendy Shay for her resilience and growth, acknowledging that his earlier perception had nothing to do with her talent or personality.

“You actually won me over, and I told you about how impressed I am with your growth. You’ve been very consistent from when you were unveiled on stage to date. Me not liking you then wasn’t about you,” he explained.

He added, “It was the fact that we were still grieving, we were mourning Ebony’s death, and the camp introduced someone new, so we felt like Ebony had been replaced already. I’m applauding you for your resilience and how you’ve been able to come this far.”

Many people did not spare Wendy Shay after she was signed onto RuffTown Records following Ebony’s demise.

The Bible Never Said Marry One Wife — Prophet Kumchacha Renews Polygamy Debate

0

Prophet Nicholas Osei, widely known as Prophet Kumchacha, has reignited conversation about marriage, questioning the biblical foundation of monogamy.

During a discussion on United Showbiz on October 26, 2025, the controversial preacher declared that he has no faith in what is often referred to as an ordained or “white wedding.”

He argued that monogamous marriage, which binds a man to one woman, has no basis in scripture and was instead imposed on Africans through foreign influence. Kumchacha maintained that such practices do not reflect African traditions, insisting that he would prefer to marry more than one wife.

“I have said this before, I support a man who marries two wives. Which pastor can quote a scripture from Genesis to Revelation to tell me that it is a sin to marry more than one wife? There is no scripture like that,” he stated.

The prophet also claimed that the institution of marriage, as conducted in church settings, is not of divine origin and therefore does not apply to him.

According to Kumchacha, most couples who embrace what he calls the “white man’s style” of marriage are facing serious difficulties.

“There is nothing like a wedding in the Bible, and there is no way I would do a wedding because it is not in the Bible. If you check the statistics well, you’ll see that about 80% of men who marry using the white man’s style are on drugs, praying for healing. Also, out of 200 men, about 185 are having extramarital affairs,” he claimed.

He further estimated that nearly 80 percent of marriages conducted through Western customs are plagued by unhappiness and infidelity.
