One Of The Hardest Things To Do Is To Pick What Song To Perform At Rapperholic – Sarkodie Opens Up

0

Sarkodie has disclosed that one of his biggest hurdles in staging his annual Rapperholic concerts is deciding which songs make it onto the setlist.

Speaking on YFM Kumasi, the popular rapper explained that with such an extensive music catalog, narrowing the list has never been easy.

“One of the hardest things to do is to pick what song to perform. Because anytime there is rapperholic, we have the fans angry because they are not satisfied and are looking forward to a certain song,” he said.

The Sarkcess Music boss admitted that even though fans expect to hear all the popular tracks, performing every single one of them in one night is nearly impossible.

“There are a lot of songs; it is a big catalog. If I try to perform every song, it is going to be hard. What I try to do is to show where I perform songs that we normally don’t,” Sarkodie explained.

Despite the difficulty, Sarkodie indicated that his team is working to balance the show with both classics and fan favourites.

“If you are not a fan of Sarkodie, you can’t say you haven’t heard ‘Can’t Let You Go’ and the other big songs. When we put such songs together, we have close to two hours,” he added.

This year’s edition, according to him, will include a twist suggested by his official DJ, Mensah.

“This particular one, Mensah said we should put a list of songs we haven’t heard for a while. And we are getting feedback from the people and the songs they want to hear on stage,” Sarkodie revealed.

The Kumasi edition of the Rapperholic Concert will be held on September 27, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Akrobeto also set the record straight about speculation that he was once married to Agradaa, insisting the claims were fabricated for publicity.

“I never had anything to do with Agradaa; she has never been my wife. Anything you saw was just publicity for a movie,” he clarified.

While ministering, Prophet Kakande claimed to have “spiritually entered” Blakk Rasta’s family home. He went on to describe details of the surroundings, which the musician confirmed to be accurate.

According to Prophet Kakande, Blakk Rasta should have been living in the United States by now but has been hindered by “bad spirits,” which, he said, are holding him back in Ghana.

The encounter has since generated discussion on social media, with some users expressing amazement over the claims, while others remain sceptical of the purported healing and prophecies.

Highlife Will Never Die; We Have To Revive It Online – Barima Sidney

Barima Sidney believes Highlife remains the backbone of Ghana’s music culture, a genre he insists will never fade with time.

He explained that even though Highlife may not dominate radio or streaming platforms like it once did, its influence is still firmly rooted.

“Well, I think as they say Highlife never dies. Probably we’re not having more Highlife like we used to have, but then trust me, even the young ones coming up, they all know Highlife is a pillar,” Sidney said in an interview with GhanaWeb’s Isaac Dadzie at the State House during the final funeral rites of Dada KD.

H attributed the genre’s reduced visibility to the attitude of some of the musicians who once promoted it. He argued that many of them have gone silent, creating the impression that Highlife has been sidelined.

To restore its prominence, the ‘Africa Money’ hitmaker urged older musicians to adapt to modern trends, especially social media, to reach younger audiences and keep the sound alive.

“I think it depends on how we are also doing because most of us, we laid back. We’re in an era of social media and all that, but then most of us laid back, not forgetting that you can’t just stay behind and be up there. I think the Highlife artistes, it’s time for them to come out, be on social media, I mean let people know this still exists. I think we’ll go for it,” Sidney advised.

Reflecting on the late Dada KD, Sidney described him as a man of depth and principle, someone whose ideas were not always easily understood but who consistently stood up for fairness.

“He’s very deep on issues, you always have his own line of thought and all that, and I really respect him for that. And he is the type who wouldn’t stand for you to be cheated. He always fights, even if not for himself, for somebody,” Barima Sidney recalled.
