I Wish I Never Took That Photo With My Son – Akuapem Poloo Expresses Regret

0

Ghanaian actress Rosemond Brown, widely known as Akuapem Poloo, says a single decision continues to haunt her, the now-infamous photo she took with her son that triggered national backlash, legal trouble, and a prison sentence.

In a recent interview with AsaasePa FM, Poloo did not hold back on what she considers her biggest mistake.

“I wish I didn’t take that picture with my son. That is my only regret. Out of pain and everything I have been through raising my son all by myself, and I am still going through it,” she said.

The 2021 photo, which showed her nude beside her young son, led to her arrest and subsequent imprisonment. But Poloo maintains that the gesture was deeply misunderstood.

She believes that the caption accompanying the post could have clarified her intent, which was never to shock or offend, but to portray a deeper message of maternal love and struggle.

“That is how naked I came into this world and that is how I am raising him. If he turns out well in future, after I have spent all my money on him, and sees me on the street mentally unstable, he should cover me and take me home,” she said.

“It was a personal expression of my struggle as a single mother,” she explained, rejecting the idea that the post was meant to attract attention or notoriety.

Poloo opened up further about her incarceration, a period that reshaped her understanding of freedom, pain, and personal growth.

“I would not wish jail on even my worst enemy. It takes your freedom away mentally,” she stated.

Now raising two children, including a baby girl she welcomed after her release, Poloo says motherhood has become an even more sacred responsibility. The trauma of her past has made her more protective, especially when it comes to her children’s privacy.

She firmly stated she has no intention of ever posting photos of her daughter online, having learned firsthand the consequences of overexposure in the digital age.

Ghanaian preacher, Prophet Roja, has gained national attention after his old video appeared to predict the tragic death of Ghana’s Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, in a helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.

In the widely circulated video, Prophet Roja is seen passionately asking for the identity of Ghana’s Defence Minister and pleading for him to make immediate contact.

At the time of the original broadcast, the motive behind the prophet’s request was unclear, but in the wake of the tragic accident, many Ghanaians are now connecting the dots.

Dr Omane Boamah, along with seven others, lost their lives in a military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region a devastating event that has shocked the nation and sparked widespread mourning.

Following the incident, videos of Prophet Roja’s prophecy began circulating online, with many drawing connections between his words and the accident.

Reacting to the development, Prophet Roja confirmed that the prophecy was made during a sermon aired on Angel FM’s Kumasi branch.

Speaking in a follow-up interview, he recalled the events leading up to the revelation.

“I had just closed from church and started receiving several calls,” he explained. “On August 1, 2025, which was last Friday, I stood in front of my church altar and mentioned the name of the Minister of Defence, asking him to contact me urgently.”

Prophet Roja added that following his prophetic call-out, he received a call from someone who labeled him “arrogant,” a comment he chose not to respond to. “I didn’t respond; I just kept quiet,” he said.

The renewed attention on the prophecy has triggered intense discussions on social media about divine revelations, spiritual warnings, and the importance of listening to such messages.

Ghanaian political commentator Frank Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Appiah Stadium, has appealed to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and its Director, Raymond Archer, to exercise restraint in their ongoing case involving award-winning dancehall artiste Shatta Wale.

The controversy began on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, when Charles Nii Armah Mensah, known professionally as Shatta Wale, claimed that EOCO officers had stormed his residence heavily armed in connection with a seized Lamborghini Urus.

The musician took to Facebook to express his outrage, accusing the EOCO boss of overstepping his bounds.

“Raymond Archer EOCO BOSS, Ibe you go make NDC go out of power next 4 years. Bringing guns to my house was uncalled for!!!!” Shatta Wale wrote. In another post, he continued: “EOCO BOSS, THE PRESIDENT OF GHANA DIDN’T PUT YOU IN THAT OFFICE TO COME AND HUMILIATE THE CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY. REMEMBER GOD NO SLEEP!!”

Reacting to the situation in a TikTok video on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Appiah Stadium called for leniency from EOCO, emphasizing Shatta Wale’s influence in Ghana’s entertainment space.

He likened the musician to the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, describing him as a national asset whose prosecution could provoke public backlash and potentially damage the government’s image.

“Raymond Archer, I beg you in the name of God, Shatta Wale is like Daddy Lumba. He is a superstar. His fans are many and powerful. If you jail him or treat him unfairly, you will destroy the goodwill this government has,” Appiah Stadium warned.

He also sent greetings to President John Dramani Mahama and other influential figures in Ghana, urging them to intervene and help resolve the standoff amicably.

0

Kwaku Manu has opened up about his decision to gift a plot of land to veteran actress Adwoa Smart.

Speaking in a video, the Kumawood actor explained that the gesture was both a way to honour Adwoa Smart’s lasting impact on Ghana’s film industry and a practical solution to a personal challenge she faced.

Kwaku Manu revealed that before an interview they conducted, Adwoa Smart spoke to him about a land she owned in Dodowa and her hope of building on it. However, upon visiting the location, he found the site unsuitable for development.

“Before we started the interview, she informed me about her land in Dodowa. We went to have a look at it. When I got there, the land was in a marshy area. And it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to plead with Ghanaians to support her to build at that place,” he explained.

Moved by her situation, Kwaku Manu offered her a better alternative.

“I told her I had a land in Amasaman satellite and if she is interested. I would gift it to her. When we got there, she was happy with the location,” he said.

He added that the idea to help build her a home came unexpectedly, but with clear conviction.

“God is the one who asked me to gift her the land. I didn’t have it in mind to gift her the land. But based on what she said. That prompted me to do that.”

Taking his support even further, Kwaku Manu has since launched an appeal online, calling on the public to join him in constructing a two-bedroom house for the beloved actress.

“After the interview, I did a TikTok live asking Ghanaians to assist me so I can build a two-bedroom for her,” he added.
