Romantic Suicide: Understanding The Downfall Of Marriage

0

In a world where weddings have become grand productions, while marriages often crumble in silence, we are forced to ask: what is killing love in its most sacred form?

This book is not just about broken vows; it’s about the slow and often unnoticed erosion of purpose, trust, and truth in marriage. It is about the phenomenon we call romantic suicide—the intentional or unintentional self-destruction of what was once built on love, commitment, and spiritual covenant. The term is not just poetic—it is prophetic. Marriage is dying not only in statistics, but in meaning, in depth, and in value.

Consider this heart-breaking true story.

A young charismatic pastor, barely 30, was the talk of the town. He had recently married a beautiful woman whom he claimed God revealed to him as his “divine partner in destiny.” The wedding was lavish, the honeymoon anticipated with joy. But just days into their new life, everything fell apart. On a quiet honeymoon night, in what should have been a moment of deep intimacy, rage erupted. He strangled her—right in their hotel room. The reason? A revelation—or rather, an accusation. He claimed she had deceived him, that she was not a virgin as she had professed. Feeling betrayed, humiliated, and spiritually defrauded, he lost control. One fatal act. One dead bride. One ruined life.

This isn’t just an isolated incident. It is a mirror of a growing disease: unrealistic expectations, emotional immaturity, spiritual manipulation, and unresolved trauma that plague many marriages—especially within the church and faith-based communities.

There are other stories.

A professional couple—both medical doctors—filed for divorce just seven months into marriage. The husband felt suffocated by a wife who expected him to maintain the image of “power couple,” while she secretly battled depression and suicidal thoughts. Their love had been a façade, built on ambition and not authenticity.

Another woman, a faithful Christian and counsellor, found herself in an abusive marriage with a worship leader. Behind his anointing was a controlling spirit. He quoted scriptures to justify domination. She stayed until he bruised more than just her body—he shattered her soul.

These are not just tragic stories. They are warnings.

This book seeks to uncover the truth behind such tragedies. What makes love die? What causes two people who once dreamed together to destroy one another? What spiritual, emotional, cultural, and psychological factors are at play in the collapse of marriages?

Through honest stories, scriptural reflection, social analysis, and psychological insight, Romantic Suicide is a wake-up call to the Church, to couples, to leaders, and to the culture at large. We can no longer afford to glamorize weddings and ignore the foundational cracks in marriages. We must understand the systemic and silent killers—pride, secrecy, lack of preparation, emotional wounds, and societal pressure—that lead to the death of romantic covenant.

This is more than a book. It is an autopsy report on love gone wrong—and a roadmap to healing, restoration, and building again.

Let the unveiling begin.

VIDEO: “We Got Deported From Belgium But…” – Willie And Mike Recount Their Early Struggles In Ministry

Gospel music duo Willie and Mike, now renowned pastors and ministers of the gospel, have shared a moving account of their early trials, one that began with deportation from Brussels, Belgium.

The talented duo in a video they have shared online recounted their first international trip that was widely publicized and anticipated as they were set to go to Paris, France.

However, to their shock, events took an unexpected turn when their flight encountered severe turbulence, forcing an emergency landing in Brussels.

What followed this sad ordeal was a heartbreaking development where they were deported right at the airport, never making it to their original destination. “It was our first time traveling abroad, and everyone knew about it back home. The embarrassment, the confusion, it was devastating,” the duo recounted.

They added that even though that moment was painful, it became the spark that deepened their calling as they gradually transitioned from music ministry into full-time pastoral work.

“Starting wasn’t easy,” they shared. “We faced rejection, humiliation, and countless roadblocks. But through it all, God’s faithfulness never failed us.”

They also disclosed that today, their journey is inspiring believers across the world. From deportees to devoted preachers, they urge others not to see their current struggle as the end. “God can use your lowest point as the beginning of your divine purpose. We are living proof.”

Ghanaian gospel artiste Empress Gifty has taken legal action against social media personality and evangelist Nana Agradaa, filing a defamation lawsuit that seeks a staggering GHS20 million in damages.

The writ, filed at the Tema High Court by her legal representative, Sam Kyere Esq., accuses Agradaa, known privately as Patricia Asiedua, of making slanderous and libelous statements that tarnished the singer’s image.

The legal battle stems from a recent social media outburst by Agradaa, in which she allegedly hurled insults at Empress Gifty while launching a verbal attack on her husband, Hopeson Adorye. The tirade followed comments Adorye made in connection with a controversial cash gift issue involving Agradaa and politician Sammy Gyamfi.

In response, Agradaa released multiple videos in which she not only dismissed the criticism but further lambasted both Empress Gifty and her husband with harsh and offensive language.
