Family of Late Highlife Legend Dada KD Speaks Out After His Passing

Veteran Ghanaian highlife musician Nana Kwaku Duah, popularly known as Dada KD, passed away at age 56 on Friday, May 16, 2025, after a short illness.

Following his death, some of his family members have shared insights into his life in an interview with GH Page TV.

According to the family, Dada KD was a kind and respectful man who had a strong bond with his relatives, even though they had lost touch with him in recent years.

They only learned of his death from a neighbour.

One family member spoke about Dada KD’s early life in Ashtown, Kumasi, and how highlife legend Daddy Lumba discovered him and became his mentor.

The family also addressed rumors that Dada KD took Cecilia Yaa Sarfoa—who later became the mother of his two children—from Daddy Lumba.

They clarified that Dada KD did not know about any romantic relationship between Cecilia and Lumba at the time. According to them, Daddy Lumba introduced Cecilia to KD as his sister.

They also made several claims about Daddy Lumba and his past conflicts with other musicians.

In addition, the family revealed that before meeting Cecilia, Dada KD had fathered a child with another woman. At first, he denied responsibility, but he later accepted the child as his own.

The family’s revelations have added new layers to the story of the late singer’s life and relationships, even as fans continue to mourn his passing.
