We need massive investments to be able to catch up with Nigerians – Article Wan suggests

Ghanaian musician, Bright Homenyah, popularly known as Article Wan, has asserted that Ghanaian music could be on the same level as Nigerian music with massive investment.

According to the award-winning musician, there are a lot of hidden music talents in Ghana who don’t get the needed push to make their music loud.

Article Wan noted that Ghanaian musicians were doing their best to reach greater heights globally, but they needed the right investments to make their music louder.

“Nigerians are dominating the Afrobeats market, and the truth is that Nigerians have massive investment, which has made their music very loud. We are doing our best, but we don’t have that level of investment.

“Most of the Ghanaian artistes fund their activities, so it is even difficult to compare the two countries.

“There are a lot of good acts in Ghana, including the upcoming ones that are left to rot in Ghana because of the lack of support. But even with the investment, you need a touch of grace to still make it out there,” he stated.

Article Wan also lauded the likes of Black Sherif, Fameye, Gyakie, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy and Sarkodie for pushing Ghanaian music to the global stage but urged massive investments.

Ghanaian Musicians Need Equal Opportunities – Abrewa Nana Tells The Media

0

Ghanaian female Dancehall artiste, Abrewa Nana, is worried about how some musicians in the country are treated.

She bemoaned over how a few musicians in Ghana are given special treatment.

The ‘Odo Filla’ hitmaker said the categorization made by the media and giving preferential treatment given to ‘A-List’ artistes is not helping the growth of the industry.

“The industry needs a united front that would give prospect to a broader range of talents instead of focusing on a select few.

“Also, the media makes it look like Ghanaian artistes are not doing well because in their own mind, they have listed some types of artistes who they have put on the frontline for the world to see. That is the reason why our counterparts elsewhere seem to be ahead of us. They don’t push only one person to shine, they offer a lot of people equal opportunities to blossom and that is what we also have to do here,” she told Graphic Showbiz.

“I believe in a music industry that provides equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of their background or origin. It’s time for us to come together and create a space where talent can flourish, irrespective of gender, ethnicity or socio-economic status,” Abrewa Nana added.

She also supported the #PlayGhana agenda initiated by the Creative Arts Agency.

“If we don’t concentrate on the #PlayGhana agenda, when foreign visitors come here, especially during Christmas, and all they hear is foreign music, that will be the message they will take back home with them. I am sure when we are keen on playing about 80 per cent Ghanaian music, the impact will be felt across the globe.”
