“Fix yourselves’ first, don’t rely on politicians – Okyeame Kwame tells Ghanaians

Renowned Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame says fixing a nation starts with the self-improvement rather than solely relying on politicians for national development.

The musician’s message comes at a time when political discourse and expectations are running high amidst the #occupyjulorbihouse demonstration.

Responding to a question about “Who do you believe will fix the country?” , Okyeame Kwame asserted that no single leader, no matter how capable, can single-handedly fix all of the country’s challenges.

According to him, the collective impact would improve the nation if each citizen takes responsibility for improving their health, nurturing positive attitudes, strengthening their families, and excelling in their professions.

In his tweet, he declared, “You Naa you will fix the country. Starting with your health , then mindset , then your family, then your work . If we all start a small light in our little corners, Ghana will become bright. All the names you have mentioned can also light a small flame. However, Ghana cannot be fixed by one man . No messiah in politics.”

Many Ghanaians expressed frustration with the musician’s sentiments, believing that his remarks exonerated the political leadership from accountability for the country’s challenges.

Sarkodie is very disrespectful – Samini fumes

0

Ghanaian Reggae and Dancehall star Samini has openly criticized rapper Sarkodie again, calling him disrespectful and two-faced.

Samini expressed his disappointment with Sarkodie’s behaviour, especially regarding collaborations with older artists.

During an interview on The Day Show with host Berla Mundi, Samini revealed that he had asked Sarkodie for a collaboration, but the response was unsatisfactory. When questioned about it, Samini claimed that Sarkodie avoided the topic.

You can’t take Samini lightly anyhow,” he asserted during the interview. “Until he shows remorse and comes to me to say, be like the way I do Badman ‘I be like ano try, Badman vex and come and make ano say, ano try,” he said.

In the conversation with Berla Muni, he continued that “until then he and I we no be cool….He is a two-faced person who will make the public believe I don’t know what I am saying on Twitter when I actually know what I am saying and then I come and ask you questions and then you can’t answer“.

Samini emphasized the importance of respecting older artists in the industry, especially for up-and-coming talents. He wanted to send a message to young artists that disrespect should not be tolerated, particularly when established artists seek collaboration.

I want young artists to know that it’s not okay to be disrespectful. When you’re asked about something, don’t try to mislead people and make them think the complainer is making things up,” Samini explained.

I responded to him based on how he treated me before, which made me doubt his respect for legends like myself. Having a ‘blue tick’ doesn’t mean I should assume you respect me after you’ve played games with me, despite my quick response to your requests.

This public dispute follows Samini’s earlier complaints about Sarkodie not responding to his collaboration request for the 2021 Burning-EP and when asked on a radio interview he shrugged off the topic.

Samini mentioned that he contributed his part to the track “Love Rock” for free, but when he needed Sarkodie’s help, he didn’t get it.
