Sarkodie is very disrespectful – Samini fumes

0

Ghanaian Reggae and Dancehall star Samini has openly criticized rapper Sarkodie again, calling him disrespectful and two-faced.

Samini expressed his disappointment with Sarkodie’s behaviour, especially regarding collaborations with older artists.

During an interview on The Day Show with host Berla Mundi, Samini revealed that he had asked Sarkodie for a collaboration, but the response was unsatisfactory. When questioned about it, Samini claimed that Sarkodie avoided the topic.

You can’t take Samini lightly anyhow,” he asserted during the interview. “Until he shows remorse and comes to me to say, be like the way I do Badman ‘I be like ano try, Badman vex and come and make ano say, ano try,” he said.

In the conversation with Berla Muni, he continued that “until then he and I we no be cool….He is a two-faced person who will make the public believe I don’t know what I am saying on Twitter when I actually know what I am saying and then I come and ask you questions and then you can’t answer“.

Samini emphasized the importance of respecting older artists in the industry, especially for up-and-coming talents. He wanted to send a message to young artists that disrespect should not be tolerated, particularly when established artists seek collaboration.

I want young artists to know that it’s not okay to be disrespectful. When you’re asked about something, don’t try to mislead people and make them think the complainer is making things up,” Samini explained.

I responded to him based on how he treated me before, which made me doubt his respect for legends like myself. Having a ‘blue tick’ doesn’t mean I should assume you respect me after you’ve played games with me, despite my quick response to your requests.

This public dispute follows Samini’s earlier complaints about Sarkodie not responding to his collaboration request for the 2021 Burning-EP and when asked on a radio interview he shrugged off the topic.

Samini mentioned that he contributed his part to the track “Love Rock” for free, but when he needed Sarkodie’s help, he didn’t get it.

“I wish I could speak for everybody, but as an artist, you need to have a brand attribute, what you stand for, what you believe in. You need to have a vision. You need to have plans, and directions. You can’t tell me that because this guy used this route to attain greatness. That’s where your stars will shine.”

Touching on wise investment, Amerado stated:

“Even if you have all the money and you don’t invest, you run at a loss because you should have a knowledge about what you are doing. Whatever they are doing is fine. Everyone is trying. The fact that Burna Boy is doing Afrobeats and he’s winning, does that mean that Akwaboa should also switch from high life to go and do Afrobeats?

“Possibly Akwaaboa can push his genre to the top and those people also come and follow. They started from a point. So we can all come together, set an agenda, and then believe in the agenda. And then we will call for investors and people who have the knowledge to push it.”

He believes achieving such a feat is not far-fetched from any top Ghanaian artist, however, the right channels, support, and an extensive promotional campaign spanning 4 to 6 months are the key to amassing such large crowd.

The ‘My Own hitmaker in a conversation with TV host Berla Mundi explained “By myself, I will fill it with the right investment. You are talking to Batman who became Samini. You are talking to Batman the MOBO award winner. If the right things are put in place and you promote Samini in London for 4 months, six months, 3 months, I will fill that space.”

He also emphasized that the Nigerian government has made efforts to change the perception of Nigeria’s music industry and artists and cautioned against unfair comparisons between Ghanaian and Nigerian artists, noting that each country’s music scene is unique and should be appreciated as such.

“There was this rumor that there was a conscious effort by the Nigerian government and other private institutions to change the narrative about the name Nigeria. I represent Ghana and I don’t want you to tell me because I represent Ghana, and I’ve reached the brim and a Nigerian artiste is doing his thing all of a sudden, I should be like him otherwise I’ve not reached. No, It’s not a fair comparison.”
