Mrs. Beverly Afaglo Baah, also known affectionately as Beverly Afaglo in the entertainment industry has recently shared her thoughts on the movie industry and marriage.

As the wife of Praye Honeho from the music group Praye, she expressed that many actresses who gained popularity in the movie industry after her marriage are now eager to find life partners.

While Beverly acknowledges that getting married may have had some impact on her career, she emphasized the significant value it has brought to her life by helping her build a loving family.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Fiifi Pratt on Kingdom FM, Beverly Afaglo bragged that the other actresses may envy the stable and fulfilling family life she has achieved through marriage, which is something they too aspire to have.

“Those people who overtook me whiles I’m home are also now looking for husbands to marry and give birth. That is how God works in his own way. How God works is different from every individual”.

Hiplife has lost its prominence – Dancehall artiste Iwan states

Award-winning Reggae-Dancehall musician professionally known as Iwan has firmly argued that Hiplife has lost its prominence.

As contended by Iwan, Hiplife’s lost of prominence can be attributed to the craving for Crunk music some years ago.

Speaking in an interview with Amansan Krakye, the dancehall artiste said when crunk music became trendy most of the well-known Hiplife artistes abandoned it to experiment with crunk.

“When I started, Hiplife was the most vibrant genre but I think somewhere along the line Hiplife lost prominence on the music scene.

“Because we like experimenting with different genres so we stopped doing Hiplife at a point in time and we started doing the crunk music.


Even before drill came into the picture there was crunk music and when crunk music came all the Hiplife artistes started doing crunk including most of the rappers.


“So the time when Hiplife was abandoned for crunk who did we expect to go and do Hiplife and it’s the same problem we are facing now,”

In an interview with ‘Afro-Joint’, The well-known actress opened up about her exuberant and wild youth, a phase in her life marked by adventurous experiences.

However, everything changed when she took the significant step of getting married.

According to Beverly, she found a sense of purpose and a determination to build a stable and nurturing home for her family after marrying.

She added that before exchanging vows, her life was characterized by youthful recklessness and spontaneity.

Yet, her marriage presented her with a turning point, encouraging her to leave behind the carefree days of her past and embrace a more focused and responsible approach to life.

“I don’t compare myself to anybody because at the end of the day, I’m grateful that when you mention Ghanaian actress, I’ll be there. If not for that (marriage), I would have done a lot of things,”  – The star actress stated in the middle of the interview.

The actress further expressed gratitude for the positive impact of marriage on her life.

While it may have slowed down her acting career compared to her unmarried colleagues, she believes that marriage has brought stability and purpose to her life.

It allowed her to focus on important aspects of life, making her grateful for the choices she has made.

The screen goddess has shared a personal experience where her motherly responsibilities has affected her professional life.

Beverly recounts that at the time, her first daughter who was then six months old always wanted to be breastfed before going to bed, hence, staying late into the night on set became a burden she couldn’t endure.

Beverly details that people started complaining as she chooses to go home early. She adds, unfortunately, the producer called to tell her that she should stay home to perform her motherly duties and her role was taken off in subsequent editions of the series.

Being married definitely slowed me down because some of the directors told me they couldn’t cast me for certain roles which I played previously because I’m a wife.

“I love that they give me such respect but as an actress, it is my duty to act irrespective of my marital status; so if I can perfectly play a role, I don’t see the reason why I should not be given the chance,” she stated.

The “Single Six” actress cited a number of female celebs like Beyonce and Ghanaian singer, Becca among many others have been through similar situations.

Look at Beyonce, because she is a big brand, her team is able to push her works when she brings something out but we know all that this is the Beyonce we knew before marriage because being a wife and a mother affected her.

“Same with Becca, she was very loud and everywhere but that is not happening with her now. You have colleagues you started with, they are single so they will keep working and then, childbirth also slows you down since you can be off for a year and half.

“And then by the time you get back to business, people have taken over your position,” she said during an inerview on Accra based Kingdom FM.

Ghanaian rapper Kwaw Kese has raised concerns about the alarming rise of coup d’états in the West African sub-region and issued what seems like a warning to the government of Ghana.

In a tweet, he emphasized that the instability and unrest in neighboring countries should not be taken lightly, as there is a possibility it could affect Ghana as well.

Hoping that the current government is paying attention, he urged our politicians to take appropriate measures to prevent any potential uprisings and ensure stability in the nation.

“Whatever is happening in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger is not too far away from Ghana. I hope our politicians are taking notes,” Kwaw Kese tweeted Wednesday, Aug 2.

Over the week in Niger, the military junta, now calling itself the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Fatherland, announced on Wednesday that it had captured democratically-elected President Mohamed Bazoum and removed his government from power, citing national security and corruption.

The coup is led by General Abdourahmane Tchiani, the commander of the presidential guard and a close ally of Bazoum’s predecessor, Mahamadou Issoufou.
