Ghanaian actor Papa Kumasi has disclosed the huge sacrifice comedian and actor Dr. Likee aka Ras Nene made to ensure the success of his comedy show in the United Kingdom over the weekend.

Speaking in a chat with Poleeno of Poleeno Multimedia after the event at the Indigo O2, Papa Kumasi revealed that Dr. Likee sold his own car to finance the much-talked-about show.

According to him, reports suggesting that the event was heavily sponsored by external financiers were inaccurate, insisting that Dr. Likee personally carried the burden of funding the production which was over Ghc3 million.

“Dr. Likee had to sell his own car just to sponsor the show. No one can sit anywhere and say it’s not true; the person should come out and prove that,” Papa Kumasi stated during the interview.

Despite the financial challenges, he noted that the team felt fulfilled and overwhelmed by the massive support they received from fans from different parts of the world.

He further revealed that many patrons who attended the event were not even based in London, with some supporters reportedly travelling all the way from the United States just to witness the comedy show.

Papa Kumasi also expressed gratitude to several personalities who encouraged and supported the team before the event. He mentioned names including Abeiku Santana, Kwame Asare Obeng and Abla Dzifa Gomashie for standing by them with guidance and encouragement.

The actor stressed that the success of the UK event was largely driven by Dr. Likee’s determination and sacrifice.

The show itself turned out to be a memorable night for patrons as major acts aside Dr. Likee, including Nana Ama McBrown, Akwasi Boadi (Akrobeto), Shifo, Opoku Bilson and surprise act Stonebwoy all thrilled the audience and gave attendees a night to remember at the Indigo O2.
