Charterhouse Will Take VGMAs Plaques If You Return Them – Mark Okreku Mantey To Ohemaa Mercy & O.J

O.J & Ohemaa Mercy

Spokesperson for VGMAs board, Mark Okreku Mantey has said on Accra FM’s Gospel 360 entertainment show that Charterhouse will receive the award plaques should gospel musicians Ohemaa Mercy and O.J return them as they’ve threatened.

Speaking to Andy Favoured, host of the show about the VGMAs bribery allegation brouhaha, blogger and OAP Zionfelix questioned him if they will receive the awards plaques from gospel musicians Ohemaa Mercy and OJ should they return them. Mr. Okraku Mantey in response noted that they cannot force any individual to keep an award they have won even though they have given it to the musicians forever. The boss of Slip Music added that he is sure Kwaw Kese who took one of his plaques to TV3 years back because he didn’t respect the award has regretted his actions but it is late for him to correct the mistake.

He further asked gospel musicians to think about what the public will say about them in future should they return their VGMAs plaques.

“We cannot force anyone who wants to bring his awards to take it. If you give us reasons as to why you are bringing it, we cannot ask you to keep it even though it is something we have given to you.

Kwaw Kese put one of the awards at TV3 saying it was manufactured with woods but I’m sure if you talk to him now, he has regretted doing that but it is late.

If you bring it, we have nothing to say, we will accept it but think about the future because everybody has seen your behavior” Okraku Mantey replied Zionfeix on Accra FM.

Mr. Twum Ampofo, manager for Ohemaa Mercy and O.J in an interview with Zionfelix on Radio Univers’ Brunch2Lunch entertainment show weeks ago said they were going to return all their VGMAs plagues on certain conditions. Whilst Ohemaa Mercy’s husband who doubles as her manager wanted names of those who offered bribes to be mentioned, minister O.J wanted to know the time gospel musicians started offering bribe and how long it lasted to know if the year he won his awards fall within those periods.

I Never Said Daddy Lumba Is Not My Class – Kojo Antwi

Kojo Antwi

“Mr. Music Man”, Kojo Antwi has denied publication, which suggested that he said on Weekend Warmer on Joy FM with DJ Black that Daddy Lumba is not his ‘class’ in the world of music.

Clearing the air on the publication on Entertainment Cirkle on Kumasi-based Kesben FM, disappointed Kojo Antwi rebuked the media for misrepresenting his words after the interview with DJ Black. According to him, the media now dwells on sensationalism to promote their platforms, something he thinks is not right. Narrating how he started music with Daddy Lumba and Amakye Dede over two decades ago, the maestro revealed that he filled The O2 Academy Bristol with Daddy Lumba on two occasions so why would he come out to say that the “Biribi Gye Gye Wo” singer is not his class.

He added that the media wants another feud after the public lost interest in the Shatta Wale-Samini beef to keep their platforms active hence the fale publication. The “Medofopa” hitmaker stated without mincing words during his interview with DJ Roar, host of the show that the media will not succeed in creating confusion between them. He continued that he has never said anywhere that Daddy Lumba or Amakye Dede is not his class.

The musician who sounded disappointed challenged Ghanaians to request for the recorded interview from Multimedia to ascertain the truth in what he is saying.

The GHAMRO chairman further stated that they (Daddy Lumba, Amakye Dede and himself) are all “market leaders in the music industry so this is not the time to bring division among us. It is not necessary. I’ll never stand anywhere and speak like that”

Recounting what he said on Joy FM, Kojo Antwi narrated, “ When I went for DJ Black’s interview, he asked if I had seen the twitter debate about Daddy Lumba and myself and I said yes. What I said was I think this debate should have happened ten or fifteen years ago but not now. I think that comparison they are doing is really not good for us because we don’t have anything to prove anymore. I also said we have already done what we have to do so when it comes to my shows, I invite people like Angélique Kidjo and others. When it comes to aiming, I want to aim to the highest. I never mentioned that he is not my class.”

Myjoyonline.com reported February 6 this year that “Music maestro, Kojo Antwi has explained that as much as Daddy Lumba is a great musician, he is not in his ‘class’.

According to him, his exploits as a musician puts him on a higher pedestal than Daddy Lumba.

Recently, there has been numerous debates on social media as to who is bigger between two of Ghana’s biggest music acts; Daddy Lumba and Kojo Antwi.

While he notes that such comparisons are unnecessary, the music maestro believes that he has done more to put him above Daddy Lumba.

Speaking on the Weekend Warmer on Joy FM with DJ Black, the ‘Dadie Anoma’ hit singer said, “they should have had this debate ten years ago.”

He explained that, “Daddy is a great musician, he’s inspired me a lot, we were meant to be here at this time but for me I think, if you listen to what I do, the kind of shows I do and the rest.

“I think when it comes to comparison, I’m not saying Daddy Lumba doesn’t deserve to be there, but I think my target as being with the Angélique Kidjo, Salif Keita, Youssou N’Dour, [I am way up]. If you don’t achieve that, you will fall in between.”

Ministerial Vetting: Rex Omar Lauds Catherine Afeku’s Performance

1
Rex Omar

Ghanaians have shared divergent thoughts about the performance of Tourism, Arts and Culture minister-designate, Catherine Afeku when she appeared before the appointment committee this week.

Whilst some individuals were not impressed with her performance, many others believe she gave right answers to the questions she was asked. One of the many entertainers who was satisfied with her plan for the ministry during the vetting is legendary highlife musician, Rex Omar.

The “Paapa” singer in an interview with Hitz FM’s MzGee said he was in love with Mrs. Afeku’s intelligence and composure when she sat before the committee to answer them. According to the musician who campaigned for the leading opposition party, NDC prior to the 2016 general election, madam Catherine Afeku can help the ministry should she become minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture.

“Generally I was impressed because her ministry is very broad. Based on the questions that were asked, I liked her intelligence composure and she also seems to be an affable person.

There isn’t a single person that has been sent to any ministry that knows all so from what I heard during her vetting, I think that if she deals with the people in the various sector relating to that ministry, she can do something.” he opined.

Commenting on the committee’s focus on tourism neglecting the creative arts sector when the minister designate for Tourism, Arts and Culture appeared before them, Rex Omar stated, “that has always been the problem. The committee didn’t know, the country doesn’t know and the policy makers don’t also know.

“The committee asked some intelligent questions in relation to tourism because they feel it is something they can touch but when you talk about music, they still don’t see the business aspect of it. They didn’t know and you can’t fault them.”

Charterhouse Finally Breaks Silence On George Quaye’s Bribery Claim

6

Charterhouse, Organizers of Ghana’s most prestigious music awards scheme, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) has disassociated itself from bribery allegations levelled against Gospel musicians by it’s Public Relations Officer, George Quaye.

In a press briefing held in Accra on Friday, February 10,  2017, Executive Director of Charterhouse, Mrs Theresah Ayoade stated that the bribery allegations against Gospel musicians made by George Quaye were not authorised by the board neither were they statements made by the board.

“We first of all wish to categorically state that statements made by Mr. George Quaye which made the media rounds over the past week are not statements made by the board. He was not authorized by the board nor acting as spokesperson of the board when he made those statements but rather he made those statements in his personal capacity as a TV show host.

The board therefore disassociates itself from those statements.

Regarding the content of what he said which makes referral to this scheme, the board cannot verify the statement he made so to as, they are untenable therefore as far as the world is concerned, there is no bribery issue from the Gospel music community or any other persons for that matter..”

In January 2017, George Quaye, on the award-winning TV show, ‘Pundits’, stated emphatically that, the most offers of bribe that come to him as an Executive of the scheme – are from gospel artists.

These allegations were met with bitter spills from the Gospel music fraternity who criticised George and asked that he mentions names of the culprits.

Nii Ayi Hammond and Mark Okraku-Mantey have since been appointed to speak on behalf of the board. However, George remains the official spokesperson for Charterhouse and the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

George, in a lengthy letter later apologised for his statement.

Read the apology from below.

On the Tuesday 24th January 2017 edition of the PUNDITS, a talk show that airs on GHOne TV and hosted by myself, I passed a comment that suggested that some gospel musicians had over the years attempted to influence VGMA officials, including me, in a bid to ensure that they won various awards in which they might have been nominated.

The comment was made in the context of the discussion which started our “Dark Side of GH Music Series”. A three part series that will touch on the various intricacies, complications, challenges, foibles of the industry practitioners, temptations and other bottlenecks confronting the music industry in Ghana.

In our discussion of the first part, which asked whether or not the envy, hatred and malice in Ghana’s Gospel fraternity were a myth or reality, with guests, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, gospel heavyweight, Diana Hopeson and Gospel Artiste Manager and Producer, Kwesi Ernest, I passed the unfortunate comment to buttress points of human nature, hatred and backbiting made by my other guests.

Indeed there is nothing I can say to justify the claims I made on the show and nothing that has been said by anyone even to confirm or support that assertion matters at this time.

As the executive that speaks for the scheme, a comment like that shouldn’t have come from me regardless it’s veracity or otherwise.

If anyone has challenged and asked musicians or industry players that have levelled similar against the scheme to either substantiate with evidence or withdraw and apologise, it has been me.

I therefore take my own advice, totally withdraw and also apologise to the entire Gospel Music Community of Ghana for my rather careless comment.

It was unfortunate and it will not happen again.

THE PUNDITS will continue next Tuesday with the second part of the “Dark Side of GH Music” series and I will render a verbal apology on the show.

Again, I totally apologise for casting that slur on the Ghanaian Gospel Music Industry and any individual who might have been offended in one way or the other.

Thank you.

Kwadwo Nkansah Liwin Hot For Shooting “Mama Boss Papa” Video At Church

1

Kumawood superstar Kwadwo Nkansah Liwin before the year 2016 ended gave his fans a song to use for the election and Christmas celebrations.

Weeks after the release of “Mam Boss Papa” song, he put out the music video for the song and as at press time, it had about 377,000 on YouTube. When most people are comfortably enjoying the Steve Gyamfi directed music video, others including Accra FM presenter, Nana Romeo have serious issues with the actor cum musician, Steve Gyamfi who directed the video and concept of the video.

Nana Romeo

The “Ayekoo Ayekoo” host on Accra FM telling Zionfelix.net about his displeasure said Liwin and his crew did wrong by shooting the music video at church. The radio presenter real name Abdul Karim Tanko continued that the Kumawood poster boy could have shot the music video anywhere aside church auditorium looking at the content of the song.

Romeo who confessed his love for Liwin’s works described the concept for the music video as “too bad” which “tarnishes the image of Christianity”. According to him, no individual can shoot such a music video at a Mosque because Muslims will not allow it.

“Liwin has been entertaining us for long and I know we all love him. He recently released his video for “Mama Boss Papa” song and after critically watching it, I did not like concept of the video. If you listen to the song, it has nothing to do with the word of God but he shot the video at a church auditorium.

The concept for the music video from the beginning to the end was too bad which tarnishes the image of Christianity. You can never do this at where Muslims worship because they will discipline you.

How can you shoot a clip in a church and take along with you alcohol and promote promiscuity there? Angry Nana Romeo bemoaned the actor.

He also called on pastors and Christians to talk against Liwin’s “Mama Boss Papa” music video to deter other musicians from repeating the mistake.

Counselor Lutterodt Comment On My Relationship With Kofi Adjorlolo Nonsense To Me – Wife-To-Be

59
Victoria Lebene Mensah kofi Adjorlolo

Victoria Lebene, the Ghanaian actress who is bent on marrying veteran actor Kofi Adjorlolo despite their 40 years age difference says whatever Counselor Lutterodt said days ago about their relationship does not matter to her.

The marriage counselor in a video, which went viral days ago, vowed not to allow the actor who is in his late 60s marry the actress who is in her late 20s.

And Councelor made Kofi Adjorlolo’s wife-to-be cried

A video posted by Zionfelix.com (@zionfelixdotcom) on

Victoria Lebene reacting to the comments in an interview with Hitz FM’s MzGee stated that Kofi Adjorlolo might be old but it does not make him a weak person.

Vic added that she was just quiet listening to the controversial counselor whilst making the statement on Okay FM just for his opinion to be relevant to himself. She continued that everything he said about their relationship at that time went into deaf ears.

“Kofi Adjorlolo is his friend so he thinks I’m younger and I’ll kill him with my strength. The fact that someone is old doesn’t mean that he is weak. You are not in his system neither do you have a medical report to prove that he is weak.

I was just trying to listen to his opinion and make his opinion relevant to himself but I never took what he was saying.”

Giving reasons for her tears when Counselor Lutterodt was talking about their relationship in public, the budding actress disclosed that “I was just crying because I felt why would someone who calls himself a pastor give such a bad remark to affect two people who are coming together to make something happen.”

Victoria Lebene who further told MzGee that she is not bothered by the Reverend Minister’s utterance concluded that his statement was too harsh but she would not have a problem with him because that is his style of gaining attention.

Afia Schwarzenegger Gives Several Reasons To Prove Why Ghana @ 60 Celebration Is Needless

5

Comedienne Afia Schwarzenegger believes spending millions of Ghana cedis for Ghana @ 60 celebrations this year is not needed now when citizens in the country are suffering.

The outspoken TV and radio presenter explaining why she thinks this year’s Independence Day celebration is not necessary stated clearly that nothing shows the country is worth celebrating. Speaking to MzGee on Hitz FM’s Showbiz This Week entertainment show, she opined that the country is cursed.

Detailing her comment that Ghana is cursed, she told MzGee “if your 60 years mother is acting the way Ghana is acting, is she not cursed? I always see Ghana as my mother who is 69. I don’t see my mother going to Nigeria to prostitute for gas. I don’t see my mother jumping from one country to the other begging. If you will see Ghana’s name in the international news, then it’s we begging or making mockery of ourselves.

Afia further advised that Ghanaians should pray for the country to develop instead of the leaders organising an event to drag school children to stand in the sun for hours when they the government officials will have dinner at night.

She also asked clean up exercise to be done to keep the country clean instead of celebrating Ghana @ 60.

“In two weeks from now, we should expect the 60 years cloth and dinner. We will invite Head of States to this country for the event. We will also need security for this same event.

Why can’t we do a cleanup exercise for the soldiers to dispose of the dirt so that we won’t have another flooding in June” angry Afia Schwarzenegger said.
