Fella Makafui recounts how she almost took her own life

Ghanaian actress Fella Makafui recently shared a poignant moment from her life where she felt driven to contemplate suicide due to relentless negative comments on social media.

In an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, the actress said she can boldly attest to the fact that she is one of the most bullied celebrities in Ghana.

Talking about what pushed her to the edge, Fella, who is currently promoting her ‘Resonance’ movie, said it really messed up her mental health.

Surviving the negative experience, Fella Makafui said she decided not to reply critics who don’t promote her positively.

“So far as you don’t say it that much, it stays where it is. The bad word travels more than the truth. 2019, I was having a meeting with my manager, and he told me about something that was happening on social media and I almost took my life.

If I tell you today that I don’t come out publicly, that’s it. The trolling effect had to be debunked, I don’t say so much to prove a point. If we are talking about people that get bullied, I am one of them. The moment I say it, it’s gone, so I don’t want to mention it.”

Fella Makafui thank God for giving her the grace to go through these difficulties.

“I just believe that God blesses us through our hearts. We shouldn’t hate and envy, I move with these three things. I think God is probably blessing me. I don’t think I go to church like that, I think we should do well.”

Fella Precious Makafui is a Ghanaian actress and a philanthropist. She is known mostly for her role in Yolo.

Actress Fella Makafui has vehemently denied any romantic involvement with rapper D-Black, dispelling swirling rumors linking them together.

Recall that in early April 2024, videos and pictures went viral on social media showing Fella Makafui smoking a cigar with D-Black.

Despite the ongoing tension, D-Black supported Medikal’s London concert on social media. Medikal, however, responded negatively, labelling D-Black as ‘fake’ and using offensive language, which sparked diverse reactions online.

Speaking on the Daybreak Hitz show on Hitz FM on April 29, the former Yolo star declined to address the issue, insisting that there was nothing to discuss.

Fella maintained a stance of respect and loyalty towards D-Black, whom she considers a brother, and said she chose not to focus on the negative energy surrounding the incident.
“Let’s not disrespect D-Black and his family.

I don’t even want to channel my energy into this thing, you know, this whole thing. Because D-Black is like a brother to me. That’s my big brother. Come on.

There were thousands of people in the club. I went there with my friends to chill,” she said.

When asked about her husband’s reaction to a video that surfaced from the club, Makafui chose to keep her comments private, stating, “No comments.”

Reflecting on his involvement in university activities, Guru reminisced about his active participation in various events such as Hall Week celebrations and collaborations with the Student Representative Council (SRC).

Notably, he successfully organized an event featuring Mister Drew, enhancing the vibrant campus atmosphere.

“The University of Ghana has always been my aspiration, and being there feels surreal. I was eager to contribute in any way possible. In my first year, I supported and sponsored some Hall Week celebrations and collaborated with the SRC for Evandy Hall Week. Bringing Mister Drew was a highlight,” he shared.

Guru also shed light on his motivations for pursuing higher education, attributing his decision to pandemic-induced boredom and his mother’s encouragement to complete his degree.

Initially enrolling in a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, he later switched to Political Science and Information Studies, aiming to apply his expertise on a global scale, particularly with aspirations to work with the United Nations.

“After the onset of COVID, I felt a sense of ennui. So I thought, ‘Why not delve into academics?’ My mother has always emphasized the importance of education, urging me to complete my degree.

Thus, I enrolled at the University of Ghana, initially studying Information Technology. Later, I switched to Political Science and Information Studies. My ultimate goal is to make a difference on a global platform, particularly by working with the UN,” Guru explained.

Celestine Donkor finally addresses weight loss surgery rumours

0

Award-winning Ghanaian artist, Celestine Donkor has addressed speculations regarding her potential pursuit of weight loss surgery, clarifying that she hasn’t made any decisions in that regard.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio, the well-known gospel singer cum fashionista acknowledged societal pressures, especially within the entertainment industry, to conform to certain body standards, but emphasized her focus on health considerations.

Celestine further highlighted her research, indicating that weight-related surgeries are typically recommended based on health assessments and imminent risks to one’s well-being. Despite being plus-sized, she asserted that her fitness and absence of health issues commonly associated with her body type.

“I am plus size but very active. I might even overtake a lot of slim people in a marathon. The fat is in my genes, and in my family, we are big. I have never had high blood pressure or anything. I do regular check-ups and drink a lot of water, and I have enough rest, so health-wise, I am fine,” she shared.

Expressing her reservations about surgery, the ‘Only You’ hitmaker cited her fear of knives and previous experiences with childbirth-related incisions. She preferred exploring alternative methods like dieting, exercise, and intermittent fasting, considering them less risky.

Even when presented with financial incentives for surgery, Donkor prioritized investing in her spiritual growth over physical alterations. She underscored the transient nature of the human body and its eventual demise, emphasizing the enduring significance of the soul.

“I can confidently say here that personally if I have GH¢40,000 or GH¢50,000 to work on this body, I will invest in my soul. This body will perish, no matter how slim and nicely carved it is.

“The worthless creature after death is the human body; even animal body has value because we use them as food, but for humans, the body is no longer worthy than to be trashed,” she noted

Ultimately, Celestine Donkor emphasized her commitment to holistic well-being, valuing spiritual enrichment over superficial changes to her physical appearance.
