Mr. Ibu’s two legs not amputated – Family clarifies

0

The family of comic actor, John Okafor, aka Mr. Ibu, has reacted to misconceptions surrounding Mr. Ibu’s health, revealing that the actor has not undergone amputation on both legs.

They clarified that the initial amputation proved insufficient to resolve his health challenges, which led to a subsequent amputation on the same leg.

The family also refuted claims attributing Mr. Ibu’s illness to diabetes, disclosing that the actor has been contending with clotting of the blood in his leg.

This was contained in a statement on the actor’s Instagram page on Saturday, December 16.

It reads,We wish to express our sincere gratitude to well-meaning Nigerians and the general public for your immense contributions, physically, spiritually, and most above all financially on getting our daddy Mr John Okafor (Mr Ibu) back on his feet again.

“We wish to correct some misconceptions making rounds on social media concerning the current state of our father’s health.
First, we would like to state that our daddy wasn’t amputated on both legs but only one.

The first amputation didn’t completely correct his health predicament so the doctors had to go ahead to amputate the same leg further to ensure we didn’t lose him.

“Daddy’s cause of sickness is also not diabetes but he’s had constant clotting of the blood in his leg (diseased blood vessels) and other health challenges posing risk to his life, therefore the need for the amputation.

“Lastly, the only reason why the family has not flown him out of the country to date is that the doctors have tagged him ‘Not Fit to Fly’.
“This tag has made it extremely impossible to get him out of the country for advanced treatment as no airline will fly him.
“Daddy is currently admitted at one of the biggest and best hospitals we’ve got in Nigeria as of today and the hospital has availed him a pool of very astute professionals.

“As Daddy is recuperating, we urge his friends, colleagues, fans, and Nigerians at large to keep him in their prayers and peddle down on unconfirmed reports concerning our dad’s health.

“Thank you Nigerians you all have been very supportive this period. God bless you all.

Ordinary minds can’t understand me – Sonnie Badu shades his critics

Gospel artist Sonnie Badu has conveyed a message to the people of Ghana, asserting that he was not born to be comprehended by ordinary minds.

He describes his life as a mystery rather than an open book.

In a post on his social media announcing his presence in America he said “Atlanta I am home … see you tomorrow @therockhillchurch I was not born to be understood by the ordinary mind I am a mystery”.

Sonnie Badu has been at the centre point of discussions in Ghana this Christmas season over his accident.

There was the perception that the musician faked the accident to hype his event Rhythms of Africa which was a massive success.

Prior to the event, the Baba hitmaker had shared pictures of him in crutches on his social media pages, announcing that he had undergone a major surgery following a domestic accident.

Interestingly, some netizens claimed that the said domestic accident was just a means for Sonnie Badu to hype his concert

Well, their speculations may have been justified when Sonnie Badu, hit the stage and in his usual elements gave an eclectic performance that will surely linger on the minds of patrons for a long time.

And this time round, Sonnie Badu, who had been moving around in crutches for a week after the said domestic performed without it.

Just after his performance, the Wonder God artiste took back the crutches and was helped to get off the stage.

This has further boosted the beliefs of some netizens who claim that the crutches episode was just a promotional strategy for Rhytms of Africa.

19 pastors gave me fake cheques worth GHC450k during my mom’s funeral – Kumchacha

0

Prophet Nicholas Osei, aka Kumchacha, has disclosed how some 19 pastors scammed him four years ago by giving him fake cheques during the final funeral rites for his late mother.

According to the founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries, twenty (20) pastors presented him with a cheque exceeding GHC450,000 at the funeral.

Speaking in an interview on Onua TV, Kumchacha revealed that he later discovered the shocking revelation that the cheques were counterfeit when he attempted to withdraw the funds from the bank.

Upon investigation, he was informed that the majority of the cheques were not valid.

Interestingly, only one individual’s cheque was recognized as genuine, allowing for the successful withdrawal of the funds.

Expressing his frustration, Kumchacha disclosed that he has been unable to access the money from the cheques provided by the 19 other pastors to this day.

“Last four years when my mother died, 20 pastors gave me a cheque but I was able to get the funds for just one of them meanwhile the family had already taken the amounts into account thinking it would come later.

As I speak, I have not been able to withdraw the funds on the cheque. Some of them gave me a cheque of GH¢20,000 others GH¢10,000 and GH¢5,000 as well. I had to go to the bank several times to the extent that I felt shy at a point,” Kumchacha lamented.

He invoked his late mother’s spirit to go after the pastors until they redeem their commitment.

“I am calling on my mother’s ghost to haunt them till they honour their promise. My deceased mother is called Maame Ama, I pray she beats them for two years. why would you give me a fake cheque?” he quizzed.

Kumchacha did not disclose the names of the men of God who gave him the fake cheques.

I had two miscarriages after my wedding in 2019 – Selina Boateng

Ghanaian Gospel music sensation, Selina Boateng has opened up about the profound challenges she faced in her early years of marriage, detailing how she experienced two heartbreaking miscarriages after her wedding in 2019.

The renowned singer, known for her soul-stirring vocals, courageously shared the emotional toll these losses took on her and her husband.

According to the ‘Asuma Asem’ singer, she got pregnant in her first year of marriage but had a miscarriage two months later.

She added that she got pregnant again in her second year of marriage and again had a miscarriage.

However, her maker proved himself faithful during the third of her marriage by blessing her a baby boy who’s name is Samuel Opoku Berchie.

The celebrated gospel diva made this revelation during an exclusive interview on The Delay Show aired last Saturday;

“I got pregnant in my first year of marriage but had a miscarriage after two months. I got pregnant again in the second year but had a miscarriage after four months. The third was in the third year and by God’s grace, it was successful,” Selina recounted.

When asked what could have caused the miscarriages, Selina Boateng said:

“The doctor was not specific about what was causing that except that they mentioned stress. I think I was all over the place, traveling and performing so that could be the cause.”

“So, for the third one, they advised me to have enough rest. Though I did not rest the way they wanted, I was able to give birth because they tied my womb,” she added.

Meanwhile, contrary to suggestions that she gained weight due to excessive food intake, the crooner attributed her current stature to the aftermath of childbirth.

“I feel very bad about the act of body-shaming, especially in the context of postpartum weight gain,” she said. “I am not alone in experiencing changes in my body after childbirth; it is a natural process. While some comments serve as motivation for me to embark on a weight loss journey, others are unnecessarily rude.”

Selina continued by stressing it is important to recognize that weight gain after giving birth is a “common occurrence and can result from various factors”

Nigerians Stream My Movies More Than Ghanaians Do – Prince David Osei

0

Multiple award-winning Ghanaian actor and movie producer, Prince David Osei has expressed his observations on the streaming trends of his movies, noting a significant contrast between Nigerian and Ghanaian audiences.

According to him, Nigerians exhibit a greater enthusiasm for his work, engaging more actively in streaming his movies than Ghanaians do.

The renowned actor, made this revelation while expressing worry over the support and appreciation Ghanaians offer to their creative industry, specifically in the realm of music and entertainment.

“It is no secret that our neighboring country, Nigeria, has gained tremendous global recognition for their music.

They have managed to market and promote their music effectively, captivating audiences all over the world. In the era of social media, proper marketing is crucial to ensure the impact and success of our creative endeavors.

Even if the DJs were to stop playing Nigerian music at parties and events, Ghanaians would still stream Nigerian music worldwide.

This is a reality we must acknowledge. Artists like Black Sheriff, King Promise, Sark, Stonebwoy, Gyakie to mention but few, have witnessed their music being streamed more in Nigeria than in Ghana,” he wrote on his social media pages.

The popular screen god continued; “As an actor, I have come to notice that Nigerians tend to stream my movies more than Ghanaians. It is disheartening to see that a significant portion of the views on some of my movies on YouTube, reaching over 1.5 million, come from Nigeria specifically.”

Prince, to a greater extent urged Ghanaians to learn to appreciate and support their own talents just as Nigerians do.

According to him, until Ghanaians change their mindset, show love, and pay more attention to their musicians, actors, sportsmen, and other creatives, nothing will change.

“In this era of social media, we cannot force anyone to listen to a certain kind of music or watch specific movies. However, we can make a difference by shifting our focus towards our own local talents and giving them the love and support they deserve.

“Let us break free from the influence of foreign telenovelas that constantly air on our screens.

Our families have become accustomed to them, but it is up to us to change this trend. Only through appreciation and support can we uplift and celebrate our own celebrities and superstars.

“I urge you all to join me on this journey of embracing and magnifying the rich talents that we possess as Ghanaians. Together, we can make a difference and bring forth a brighter future for our creative industry,” he added.

Known for his soulful melodies and insightful perspectives, Kwabena Kwabena has raised pertinent concerns about the initiative’s viability, emphasizing that financial considerations may ultimately dictate the success or failure of the program.

The Play Ghana initiative, designed to amplify the presence of Ghanaian music across diverse platforms, has been a central topic of discourse within the music industry. However, Kwabena Kwabena, during a recent episode of UTV’s Showbiz Night, openly questioned the initiative’s feasibility given the existing financial landscape.

“Money rules the game. If there is no money, the game will be dull. For me, the Play Ghana initiative is not feasible because it all boils down to financial constraints,” the artist stated, offering a straightforward perspective on the challenges faced by the industry.

Kwabena Kwabena’s comments underscore the challenges faced by artists and stakeholders within the industry in the absence of robust financial support and infrastructure, emphasizing the need for constructive measures to propel the initiative forward.

“The reality is glaring, it seems not feasible, it should not just be a loose talk without constructive measures in place to push the initiative 80% airplay. it is a numbers game and the investors need to reach a viable consensus to drive the appeal of the Play Ghana initiative and garner substantial interest among stakeholders”

Kwabena Kwabena suggested that collaborative efforts among stakeholders, including artists, policymakers, DJs, and industry players, are essential to developing sustainable solutions that effectively address the challenge.
