Most Young Artistes Are Doing ‘Sharp Sharp’ Music; They Don’t Meet My Standards – Ambolley

0

Veteran Ghanaian Highlife musician, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, has made his observation about young artistes known.

Speaking in a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, he tagged songs composed by these young acts as ‘sharp sharp’ music.

According to him, most of these young artistes do not meet his standards when it comes to collaboration.

He recalled how they took their time to compose and arrange songs during their time.

“I am not looking at the money. I am not going to say because they have money, I am going to charge them and do it. It has to be what I believe in and the substance of the music must have a positive impact on listeners.

“In our time, we learnt what music really was and the rudiments of music composition, arrangement and all other elements that make good music. That is not available to the young ones lately. All they do is to depend on the computer and after that give themselves all kinds of titles,” the veteran musician stated.

He added: “Many of them want to do music with me but they are not at par with what I expect. And if you are not up to that, I am sorry, I won’t team up with you.

“I have been approached several times by some of the young ones, they want me to endorse their stuff, but I decline because whatever work I put my mark on has to be real music. Most of them are doing what I call ‘sharp sharp’ music which has a very short shelf life.”

Singling out a few ones, Gyedu-Blay further stated: “There are a few exceptional ones who have the potential to make a significant impact on our music scene and we know them, and these are the ones I will not hesitate to work with.”

Speaking in an interview with GhPage TV, Brother Sammy stated that divorce is not a sin and encouraged individuals who are being maltreated in marriage to quit as early as possible.

“Marrying a pastor is not difficult, you just have to understand them. Most pastors have divorced their wives to marry again. It [divorce] is not a sin. Most people have married witches. If you stay in a marriage and die out of maltreatment, then you are the most foolish person. Because you could have quit since you went into it yourself.

“Jesus that people are so concerned about when it comes to marriage did he marry? I don’t understand why people don’t divorce when they’re being maltreated citing the kids,” he indicated.

The controversial gospel artiste further called on the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to make sure couples sign an annual contract where they have the right to renew or not depending on the situation at hand.

“To me, I will plead with Nana Akufo-Addo to make marriage a yearly contract where people have the right to renew or not depending on how they feel. But when a woman is being told to stay in a marriage even when they are not comfortable because of the children, it’s worrying,” he added.
