I Was Advised To Boycott VGMA – King Promise Reveals

Ghanaian musician, King Promise, has revealed he was advised to boycott the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

According to him, many people gave him this advice after he couldn’t win an award despite having multiple nominations.

However, the ‘Tokyo’ singer performed at subsequent editions of the award scheme.

“It’s not the people because when I drop the music it goes crazy so I mean I know the fans do support me, Even with the VGMAs there were times where I had advice from people who were like ‘cancel them, don’t go again’. People say a lot of stuff it’s up to you to make what you think of it.

“I always went still and performed, even when I didn’t win, I go the next year to perform, It’s about the fans for me,” Promise told Berla Mundi on TV3.

He stressed his readiness to serve his fans.

“Awards or not I was born to do this, I make this music from a special place and it’s not because of awards yeah so for that fact when we get an award, we drop bangers, when we don’t get we still drop bangers, we just keep going,” he said.

King Promise won Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste and Album of the Year at the VGMA 2023.

King Promise Teases Collaboration With Black Sherif

King Promise and Black Sherif will ‘cook’ something for their fans soon.

The ‘Selfish’ singer teased his collaboration with Sherif in a recent interview.

He gave the hint after revealing that they have not worked together before.

“We haven’t worked together but we have a connection, sometimes not because we are friends we should force the song, I like it to be very natural. Like I Knew Sark for four years before we made a song, same thing with R2Bees, I knew Wizkid a long time before we did a song,” he told Berla Mundi on TV3’s ‘New Day’ show.

“I can’t reveal a lot of things but we plan on working soon, big smash, of course, it’s coming.”

Reacting to the assertions that Black Sherif’s album should have won the VGMA 2023 Album of the Year, King said: “But I think when it comes to things like this even the times that I have been nominated that I didn’t win, there were so many people who thought I deserved it and should have won but it doesn’t mean whoever won did not deserve it and I respect it.”

The Ghanaian musician further revealed his love for Sherif and his album.

“And I heard him speak about it. Big ups to Blacko. His album is one of my favourites as well. I love Blacko.”

Davido reveals how his father got a contract with the world bank after his performance at the world cup

Award-winning Nigerian artist David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, HAS recently revealed how he facilitated a connection between his father, Mr. Adedeji Adeleke, and World Bank President David Malpass.

Davido shared that his father had been trying to meet with Malpass for some time but had been unsuccessful.

During an interview with American media personality Big Boi, Davido disclosed that he had a chance encounter with Malpass at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

After Davido performed at the closing ceremony, he happened to meet Malpass at his hotel, who praised his performance.

Upon exchanging pleasantries and Malpass introducing himself, Davido quickly seized the opportunity and contacted his father, informing him of the meeting with the President of the World Bank.

In response, his father requested to speak with Malpass, prompting Davido to pass the phone to the esteemed economist.

Through Davido’s intervention, his father and David Malpass were able to establish a connection and discuss potential opportunities.

The precise nature of the deal or collaboration resulting from this connection was not specified in the interview.

Davido said; “My dad has a lot of friends in high places and he has been trying to look for the president of the world bank. He’s been trying to get to the guy and the guy was at the world cup.

He sees me in the hotel and says “Davido I enjoyed your performance, I am the President of the World Bank”, I said; “Hold on “hello daddy, I have the president of the world bank” and he said; “Give him the phone”, connected the deal just like that.”
