Embattled  CEO of Menzgold Ghana Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM1), has been granted bail in his ongoing trial on 39 counts of fraud and money laundering charges.

The decision, handed down by the court today, includes several conditions that Mr. Mensah must adhere to during his release.

In a significant development, the court granted bail to NAM1 in the amount of GH¢500 million, a substantial sum designed to ensure his presence at future court proceedings.

This bail amount is accompanied by the requirement of four sureties, and notably, none of them are required to be justified.

Additionally, as part of the bail conditions, NAM1 has been directed to deposit his passport at the court registry, preventing him from leaving the country during the trial.

These developments come after the businessman pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him, along with Menzgold Ghana Limited and Brew Marketing Consult, his co-defendants in the case.

Kwame Akuffo, the legal representative for NAM1, requested that the court upheld the previous bail condition of GH¢5 million without justification, which was granted when the case was heard at the circuit court before the state entered a nolle prosequi.

Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah Yeboah, representing the state, did not oppose the bail application. However, he emphasized the importance of NAM1 depositing his passport and urged the court to consider the substantial sum of GH¢1.68 billion involved in the matter.

After careful consideration, the judge granted bail to NAM1 in the amount of GH¢500 million with four sureties, all of which are not required to be justified.

Furthermore, Mr. Mensah has been directed to report to the CID headquarters every Thursday, ensuring his cooperation with the ongoing legal proceedings.

The case continues to garner significant attention, with the next court date pending.

Leaving the SDA church changed my destiny for good – Kwaku Manu

0

Kwaku Manu was born into the Seventh-Day Adventist Church but he has shunned the church without any regret.

During a conversation with Ghanaian Radio Presenter, Nana Romeo on Ayekoo Ayekoo show on Accra 100.5 FM, the actor said “I used to be an SDA member, then I moved to Mama Vida’s church … since it’s a fitting and conducive place, I stayed put.”

Kwaku Manu details that since his job “involves many people,” he needs “an arm that is heavy and strong to push him [forward], both physically and spiritually”.

Kwaku Manu also emphasises that he needed a church that guarantees spiritual fortification.

In my speaking, it can happen that some people are in favour or against. I’m an actor. It’s a job that involves multitudes [also]. If your spirit is not heavy and strong, you cannot stand before or lead multitudes,” he said.

He continued that “so looking at the home I am from, and looking at myself – I always say my spirit speaks to me – I couldn’t have come out [of obscurity, staying there].

You know God can destine you for greatness but if care is not taken, human beings can suppress it? Moses was told to take the Israelites to the Promised Land but he couldn’t make it himself. So, you can hear God’s voice alright but ask yourself if the church you’re in can take you to your expected end,” Manu added.

According to the actor, “the [SDA] church does not like moviemaking. It’s like being a Jehovah’s Witness and wanting to become president. How can that happen? So if you have that vision, you need to leave that place [congregation]”.

Justifying his reason for leaving the SDA church, Kwaku Manu said there are instances in the Bible where God told people to move away from their present location if they wanted to be prosperous and established.

“Traditional marriage is the actual marriage and not white wedding” – Rex Omar educates African youths

0

Award-winning Ghanaian veteran highlife musician, Rex Omar, has educated African youths about the power traditional wedding ceremony wields.

In a Facebook post that has now gone viral – Rex Omar explained that the traditional wedding ceremony isn’t a mere engagement.

He added that the notion that the traditional wedding ceremony doesn’t hold any importance should be dumped.

He wrote…

“My dear young people of

AFRICA

After the two families have met and you’re done performing the traditional marriage ceremony with all the customs, please STOP calling it an engagement! That is the actual marriage according to our AFRICAN tradition laid down for us by our ANCESTORS.

Do NOT after that put pressure on yourselves waste money that could have been used to start life to go perform another white European wedding ceremony and call that the marriage.

Our ANCESTORS were NOT stupid!

For the lack of knowledge, my people perished.”

Below are some of the reactions from netizens who have come across Rex Omar’s post about the typical traditional wedding that modern youths have pinned as a mere engagement.

Godwin Aven Great counsel

Thank you for bringing this up. A very meaningful declaration which I hope will set the records straight and free us from the ignorance of loss of identity as Africans and Ghanaians for that matter.

The churches are to blame for this maladjustement because they have given the wrong and rather misleading interpretation to what constitutes a lawful marriage.

The late President Rawlings found this out as an obstacle so under his administration a law was passed to allow for the registration of such marriage to conform to a documented legal regime without necessarily going the extra length to spend money on wedding dresses and all other wasteful expenditure….but still most churches don’t recognise couples as married until they the chosen few pastors hear their own voice proclaiming that the two are joined together.

PEOPLE, RISE UP: IGNORANCE IS EXPENSIVE.

Kwawtwintoh Mensah – Thanks for this great piece. So silly of those saying that traditional marriage is an engage

Prospéré Tsidi Quarshie – Blame on the absence of policies/strategies of Social re-engineering,not necessarily the people who engage in it

Orchestration Lighting Interestingly, without the traditional ceremony the white wedding can’t happen. The church always insists you do the traditional ceremony first. That is enough evidence to show the importance of traditional marriage
